. Why? So we can Continue to pay BM more than any other superintendent around here. So we can act like a new school is going to be built when the acreage is not there. So we can
Build on classrooms in the current high school to hold all the out of district kids. So we can make the football complex even nicer. So we can build a new kitchen to make sure we can feed all the out of district kids. So we can build a drama ctr when there is already a new stage at the elementary. So we can continue to employee people with the last name Cooksey. So we can make sure there are plenty of Football
Coaches on staff. So we can continue to give Gary perks.

If your already registered you don't have to do anything but vote. Come on people it is what it is. You either pay it & keep Fairview or you pay it & go to Boyd County. It's one of those catch 22, you either pay willing or you pay regardless... If you pay regardless it will end up more.. THINK for yourselves people not what others tell you...

Mr. Musick was quoted on the paper stating the district was in sound financial shape and the school would not close rather the tax was passes or not. The people of WW already pay high enough property taxes. in fact the revenue from propert taxes went up over $350,000 from 2010 to 2012. New development is also going up by Walmart which can be taxed. There IS plenty of money within the in district students. In fact if they could just close the current high school and build on the 7-9 classrooms in the facility plan at a cost of about 1,600,000 this would be enough room in a new facility to hold all the approximately 530 actual in district students. The budget of course would have to be adjusted to meet the actual need of the in district students. It would be hard for our superintendent to be the second highest paid in the area and a good bit of other perks that some staff enjoy would have to go by the wayside and of course some would have to find employment elsewhere but if the board would actually focus on the in district students the dynamics of the community this could be feasible. Having 40%+ of the students population not living in the community and their patents not paying any fees or taxes to the board is the problem here. The people of Westwood, many which are retired or on fixed income simply cannot keep up with the trend of an ever expanding student population whose parents provide nothing in the form of local property taxes or fees.

Alot of new tax money has come into our district with walmart an the rest of the add ons up on that hill, in the last few years. Has that money been used in the best interests of the school buildings, or something else? I just don't feel that the 40% or so of the out of district students are going to come back to the community to live or bring their kids to school here, so I don't like the idea of paying more tax for them to have a nicer place. I have a child in school here and I want her to have the best she can have but our utilities have went up 17% all ready! think of it like this, that's 3 more hours a month most people will have to work just to pay the extra tax!!! I work long enough already! I will vote NO and so will the others in my family and some friends. I want the best for my child and it may turn out the "Ole Fairview" just might not cut it. Unless you can play ball.

I haven't been reading any of these topics, so this isn't a troll question, I seriously want to know.

Where can I see the enrollment and superintendent pay figures? I could believe Musik being high paid, I just want to see how much. Also, It seems to me 40% out of district enrollment unbelievably very high.

U can ask at the boards office or u can goggle Kentucky Department of Education Superintendent's pay, then go to School District Personnel Information go down the list to where it says Superintendents Salaries (2001-2013). It is right there in black and white. Public record.

The 40% came from info that a board member put out in addition enrollment numbers on the KDE website.

why should I pay more taxes to a school who has a student population that is 40% out of district and their parents don't contribute a dime in tax base....and have the " recruits" get special treatment. Come on ....this little click needs broken up and run the district for district kids ....and don't get me started on all the money wasted on sports perks.....Vote No .....unless u r retarded and like to give your hard earned money away.

Either have the out of district kids pay their fair share equal to what the average Fairview kid accounts for in property taxes or don't let em come. Bill says it ain't closing either way the vote goes, don't like it when kids families don't want to move to the Wood but they want their kids to go to Fairview for football. Just heard some BC kids are coming, a set of twins and some others but the parents of the twins just bought a house in Ashland. So here we go aga.in even more out of district student athletes whose parents don't pay a dime to the school in property taxes coming to Fairview for sports and actually costing the local tax payers Money, This crap has got to stop. People in WW shouldn't have to pay for the Real Fairview kids and out of district kids in local property taxes. Let these parents pay the $4,000 or so a year it will cost the local tax payers to educate the twins. Get it., we can't afford it.

The parents in boyd county are already paying taxes for BCHS and their kids dont go to school there. Its just how things go. You pay for the district you live in, not where your kid goes to school. We are one of the very few districts in the area not to have a school tax. Everyone else is already paying it. No one wants to shell out more money, but its really not going to break any of us. People are running around acting like this is going to be the end of the world. We should have to pay this.

This silly thing about the school closing is all coming from those inside the school itself. Have yet to see it typed anywhere other than from people employed by the school. just propaganda any way you view it! "Ole Fairview" isn't going to close even after WE shut down the tax (3 strikes and your out) Change is coming, you wait an see!
