I also heard the Sweetwater rumour at Stonewall/Wegmans from a "friend of a friend," again with the Planning Commission as the supposed source. I haven't been able to confirm though, but it's definately possible as that is a good location for a Sweetwater and I 100% guarantee Great American Restaurants is opening a restaurant out here soon. However, I would think a location at Market Square in Virginia Gateway more likely because of their relationship with Peterson and proximity to a movie theatre.

Unless they are planning a Sweetwater at Stonewall and a Coastal Flats at Market Square? Now that would actually make sense and of course be nice for all of us, because there will be at least an hour wait at either of them on prime evenings...

I noticed that Gardener Station in Gainesville will be getting a Fresh Market and Kohls, I didn't know that center was going to be that big! I will take all the new development we can get! I also read Wegmans was going to be a Spring 09 delivery, but Wegman's website now says Fall 08.

Sweetwater would be great. Anyone hear about any other rest. coming? Eggspectation really fall out?

I'm excited about all the new retail going up soon, however the traffic at rt 29 / linton hall is awful. How can it support all this traffic with new stores when it can't support it now.

They are already widening Linton Hall and they are going to build an interchange at 29/Linton Hall in about 3 or so years. Until then things will be a bit congested at that 29/Linton Hall stoplight but eventually the first stoplight on 29 from 66 will be in front of Virginia Oaks.

Is there a Web Site for Gardner Station? I read the new Kohl's was going at the corner of 15 and 66.

I actually saw it on the website for the Shoppes at Lake Manassas website. Not sure about a website for Gardener Station at this point.

I could not find anything when I did a google search for Gardner Station. I would love Kohl's around here. Where is Gardner Station in relation to the Shoppes at Lake Manassas? The Wegman's is going in at the Shoppes at Lake Manassas, right?

I have never been to an eggspectations before, it doesn't sound like an upscale restaurant. How is it?

This is somewhat off topic, but how do you actually get to Lake Manassas if you want to walk around it?

Quinn, Wegmans is going to Shopes at Stonewall. Shoppes at Lake Manassas will be an outside mall.
Eggspectations is a great European style restaurant, definitely somewhat upscale.
I heard that you cannot walk around Lake Manassas, in other words it is not organized like Burke lake for example.

Where is Eggspectation going? I love that place, they have such a great selection!

Thanks Kab, hard to keep track of all this development ;-) Being from Europe I would like to visit an Eggspectations. Interesting to see how it is compared with Europe itself.

Well, it was supposed to go to Madison Crescent, but it seems to be off the radar. I like it too, so let's keep on hoping...

Just figured I'd throw out info when I got it. Not big news, but a "World of Wings" looks to be opening at Dominion Valley:

Looks slightly interesting.

Of course, I'm really waiting for some good ethnic choices like Thai, Vietnamese, and Indian as all we seem to be getting are so far are american/chinese/italian/texme x style places.

By the way, if you haven't tried the Afghan Kabob place yet give it a try: the boneless chicken kabobs are fantastic (use the green dipping sauce). They also have a couple sides that we really like...

And a few other restaurants that might be common knowledge but just in case:

Desiderio's Restaurant in Madison Crescent
Brooklyn Brothers Pizza in Madison Crescent
Maggie Moos in Madison Crescent
Pei Wei in Gateway Commons
Margerita Pizza in Gateway Commons (essentially the same as Tony's New York Pizza in Bristow Commons: owned by his brother)
Vinny's Italian Grill in Gainesville Square
Smoothie King in Gainesville Square

Can it be? Finally a Thai restaurant heading to Gainesville?

Saw an ABC permit sign in a window at the old CardSmart in Somerset for a liquour license for a restaurant named "Thai New Wave"

Here's hoping they have a good Penang Chicken Curry, Drunken Noodle, and make their basil chicken Thai Hot Hot Hot!!!

Actually, more news on this Thai restaurant. Looks like the trade name for the "Thai New Wave" restaurant is Anothai, so it looks like an existing restaurant in Loudon is expanding here.

Here is the website:

And looks like they have gotten some good reviews, especially for the Drunken Noodle! Nice!!!

I know where I will be eating at least 3-4 times a month soon...

You guys / gals are AWESOME! I moved out of the Gainesville area back to CA, but I've always kept in touch with all the growth that's taking place. Who knows, maybe we'll have to come back for some Thai. Altough there are 10 within 5 miles here in Silicon(e) Valley. Keep me posted on that night club. We'll need a good baby sitter if that props up. Cheers!:-)

I used to live next door to you, in Campbell, CA. Plenty of Thai restaurants in that area. Just like places closer in to DC. I think Gainesville is to DC as Tracy, CA is to San Fran.

Moved here to NoVa because of IT work with Government, more pay, and of course real estate is more affordable here. I only miss the Bay Area in the winter when it's cold on the east coast. Luckily this winter has been mild like the last few winters: 70's a few days this week and 60's the rest in January.:) But I know the cold is right around the corner.

Any ideas on what's going in Braemar, behind Bank of America/Arby's?
