A bright idea in solar

Vincent Battaglia is eagerly awaiting former President Bill Clinton's keynote speech this week at Solar Power International, a convention expected to draw thousands of solar industry experts to Orlando.
"By 2020, Gov. Jerry Brown has set a goal for the state to generate 12 gigawatts from solar, wind, fuel cells and other clean energy sources. So far, the state has installed generating capacity of about 1.2 gigawatts, enough electricity for almost 200,000 homes a year, according to the study."
So,200K for 1.2GW or 2 million homes for 12GW of generated power. Why not put a 4KW peak system on 2 million roofs? The power is used where it is generated, no EIRs, no land lease agreements and no new power corridors across vast streaches of land. A 4KW peak system takes up about 315 square feet on a home's roof and costs about 18,000 to install. Just about the same as the list price of an economy car. Pay this once and reap the power production of the system for life.

This was a great idea.
A lot of people would benefit from this, if this would happen.
