"Calling renewable energy development a “critical area of economic growth,” Rep. Raul Ruiz on Friday called on fellow lawmakers to reform the federal tax code in a way that benefits wind, solar and other green industries."

If the project can be used as a baseload or spinning source of power, then it can be worthwhile to go forward with such a project. Solar PV over thousands of acres of land in remote areas where the generated product is "shipped" to market over power corridors is much less efficient than putting the solar PV modules right on the roofs of homes and businesses. The electric industry as a whole needs to get into the power storage business. It would help stabilize the grid and allow peak smoothing as well as spinning reserve power. This can be used no matter what power generation source is used.
