Full story: The Morning Call

The graffiti, which police said began to flourish Monday, includes mysterious configurations of symbols and letters drawn in varying colors on mailboxes, road signs and buildings.

How long did everyone think it would take for these things to hit the "burbs". All the cowards who left Allentown at the first sign of trouble rather than standing up for what they own, where do you run now? All you did is left a vacuem that has been filled with scum. This type of problem will continue to occur as long as people feel that it is easier to leave than to stand up for what they own. Unfortunatly the places to run will also eventualy diminish.

How sad. I grew up in Catty, and have nothing but the fondest of memories. Law is the rule. When you see the crimes that are committed and the punishment for it, you must start believing that the system is at fault, and ONLY the system can fix this $hit. Plee bargains for killing people, and slaps on the wrist for people under 18 must end. Push for tough and swift laws now. Don't let it be held up in some stupid lawmakers hands. This must end! Oh yeh and boobie trap your mail box overnight.

Horse-crap. People have lost pride in themselves, their community, their property, and their children. I blame, partly, the entitlement programs. If we destroy our home/apartment/house, the government will get us another. Bull, I can remember when poverty did not prevent you from taking pride in yourself and property. And start building more youth detention centers, and then put them to use. Too many bleeding hearts are trying to reform these little darlings. And don't make it pleasant for them. Bring back chain gangs, work details, do away with TV and amenities, and force them to attend school, after their work details. No more free rides. And why are we not lowering the age for juveniles to 14 from 18? When those standards were established, it was a different world. Make the kids accept responsibility for being stupid.

You can't blame people for "running", especially the elderly and those most likely to be crime victims. The real problem is that mayor after mayor after mayor have done nothing to stop the hispanic invasion and ultimate destruction of Allentown. Allentown is a sanctuary city for criminals, welfare recipients and rejects from the big cities. The street gangs in Allentown wield more power than the police or any politician. Cutting off welfare is the only thing that will save Allentown. The money saved could be more wisely spent in hiring a police force that can actually have a fair chance at winning this battle. Until then, it's gang rule and lots of gunshots.

Catty used to be a great town. Not even 5 years ago it was clean, the kids were respectful, there were no cars with coffee can mufflers and the crime was low. I agree, you drive down Front Street now and it does look like Allentown. There are too many absent landlords. They live in Jersey or NY and never come to see how their tennants are living. As long as that Title 20 check is in their mailbox that is all they care about. All these Hud houses are ruining the school district too. The level of learning in the schools used to be so high and something to be proud of. I'm sure now they are lowering their stanrads so the little darlings from Allentown can keep up. What a pathetic situation.

I lived in Catty for 20 years and got out when I saw the low lifes moving in. I still visit friends often and I see the street rats that are standing on corners. Trust me they are not all white kids. Many of them are inner city kids that moved in within the last 2 years. Those kids are having a huge negative infulence on the hometown Catty children.

Oh trust me the hometown kids don't need the outside influences..They are s-c-r-e-w-e-d up so as it is..I know lots of kids that were born in Catty and still live there..They are far worse han the ones coming from other places..The difference is that the Catty knuckleheads are good at hiding their true colors.Look at the graduating class this year and see how many girls are having babies..Omg the # will shock you.The amount of kids on drugs is outrageous..And of course those are the parents that swear not their kid..Parents need to open their eyes and see what their children are up to..

Exactly my point. My daughter graduated three years ago from Catty. You didn't see any of this crap in her graduating class. Well, maybe one kid that I know of that was a true bad egg. Not one girl walked the halls pregnant. For the most part they were all good hard working kids and many of them are off in collage and making good futures for themselves. However, in the last few years there has been a dramatic change in the kids. I feel it is the influence of the inner city kids moving to the burbs and the parents not paying enough attention to the "new " friends their kids are hanging out with. Couple that with xanga, myspace, cell phones, kids with too much time on their hands and this is what you get. Too many parents are letting the kids raise themselves.

One problem in Catty is the parents of the children that have lived there for ever..They are still living in the times when you were safe to walk the streets..They let their kids run the streets no questions asked.. UH Hello!! Then they wonder why their kids are getting in trouble..No supervision!!! I remember growing up in Allentown the boys were always going to Catty..When I asked why they would say cause Catty girls are easy.Trust me that was many many years ago..So obviously the Catty kids were never as innocent as they seemed..Drugs have always been around in Catty only not as obvious. Its more low key cause everyone knows each other there..
I understand inner city moving into the borough is not helping but Catty natives are not innocent either..

I lived in Catty for 15 years and you could see the decline. At first the only run down place was the so called auto parts store run buy the guy with the traveling landfills. People who know catty know who I mean. Then as the years went on Front street started looking more and more like any Front street in Allentown. I drove down Front Street a few weeks ago for the first time in a long time and I will go out of my way not to go down Front Street any time soon, it WAS inner city. Take care of it now Catty, you've ignored it long enough.

OK, something that I am noticing from many of the comments that are posted, is that none of you live in Catasauqua. I happen to live here and will continue to do so and fight the issues that the we are going through. This is the only way things can get better. Those of you viewing us as the "armpit" of the universe lets see you move here to help fix the problem. It is easy to complain, but no one is eager to take action to help make things better. Maybe now that there is light on this people should start taking action and take back their neighborhoods. Until you have the guts to do this, stop saying how horrible our area is becoming because your not part of solution, your part of the problem.
