Is it Leather Corners, or Leather Corner Post?

Full story: The Morning Call

Q: I drive on Kernsville Road every day in both directions. On Kernsville Road between Routes 100 and 309, there is the Leather Corner Post Hotel.

I was born and raised in this area and my grandmother used to live just outside of it. The village itself is Leather Corner Post. The restaurant, we always just called "Leather Corner Post", but I'm not sure of the official name.

The restaurant/bar where the Boombas are played is called "Leather Corner Post Hotel". You can run a google search using that phrase and find at least 3 valid hits. The business was sold to new owners in 2002 and I don't know if they are still playing boombas there.(I am the proud owner of 2 of their boombas!)

It is called Leather Corner Post. The hotel got its name from the story ,that a theif stole some leather hides from down the road. He was beinging chased, and threw the leather hides over the hitching posts in front of the building,so he could get away!Hence the name Leather Corner Post.

I was born in 1945 in that third, "red brick" house just south of the now Parkland Middle School on route #309. Paul Miller Trucking was there at that time. I played the Boombas at Leather Corner Post in the late 60's, and then it changed hands in the 70's, and I now see new owners since 2002 from this posting! My grandpa Claude Frey is in the cemetery behind the hotel. I loved that noise every Tuesday and Saturday night! I wish I had a Boomba now to relieve the tension like I did then. Good Memories! I helped build cabins at Camp Horseshoe in the late 50's! Just east of the hotel there were only 4 houses that sat in a row! My uncle Grim lived in Orefield right at Herman's market in that little development where Huckleberry road and #309 connect. My Grammy lived at Crackerport Damn! That was a Lehigh Portland Cement home now gone!$8.00 a month rent in those days! The good old days! What happened? Here I am in Warr Acres, OK 73122 It's ok, but not like Kern's Dam was! I grew up just one mile down the road towards the horseshoe. It was called Leather Corner Post and the story about it's name is similar to Robin's. My uncle, James Wenner, owned the hotel from about the late 30's to some time in the latter 40's. Steve Mazepa, who may have owned the hotel after my uncle, I'm not sure, there was another Steve in there somewhere but I beleive Mazepa was the first one to introduce the boom-ba's.
