NO ARD FOR ABRAHAM. ONCE A USER ALWAYS A USER. HE SHOULD BE FIRED. NO FIRST OFFENSE PLEA BARGAIN. WE ARE TALKING ABOUT A ELEMENTRY SCHOOL TEACHER. THE QUESTION SHOULD BE HOW LONG HAS HE BEEN ON DRUGS PRIOR TO HIM BEING CAUGHT. WHOEVER GAVE THE TIP SHULD BE APPLAUDED.

It would be nice if the writer included more details.

According to an affidavit:

Members of the Lehigh County Drug Task Force received a tip that Abraham had picked up Mastroddi at her home at 4 p.m. on Oct. 4.

Officers staked out the home and saw Abraham return to drop off Mastroddi, then followed him home. There, they found cocaine in his pants pocket after he told them he was carrying drugs.

Abraham told the officers he and Mastroddi had gone to Northampton, where he gave her $120 to buy cocaine.

Waldron said the question of how Abraham fell into drug use will be answered by counselors as the case goes through the court system.

Am I to believe that picking someone up and dropping them off is grounds to be stopped and searched by the police. There has to be more to the story.

Seems like Teachers should be watched more than the students, I guess they make too much money also! Drug Test them like they do the students and while your at it check the Lawyers, cops and all people on the taxpayers
payrolls.

He is a teacher, and he should never do drugs; however if he can clean up his act I don't have a problem with him teaching at another district. I could have used the $150 he threw away on coke.

In America we criminalize Americans with unpopular genetic traits and diseases.

"Like many other psychiatric illnesses, drug abuse and dependence comprise a complex set of genetic disorders..." National Institutes on Drug Abuse Genetics Working Group http://www.drugabuse.gov/about/organization/G...
---

"Once thought of as weak-willed people who lacked the moral strength to just say no to drugs, addicts are now viewed as victims of genes that make them susceptible to the powerful pull of mind-altering substances." 14 Nov 2000, New York Times http://www.mapinc.org/drugnews/v00/n1700/a07....
----

"A quarter of the U.S. adult population is hooked on alcohol, cocaine, nicotine, amphetamines or some other substance." 04 Nov 2000, Los Angeles Times
----
Just as certain genes make some people more prone to heart disease, cancer or Alzheimer's disease, scientists now believe that other genes may make them more susceptible to becoming addicted to heroin, marijuana or other compounds that affect the brain's natural reward system.

``It appears that the genetic vulnerability for substance and alcohol abuse is fairly general in our society,'' says Dr. David Goldman, chief of neuro-genetics at the U.S. National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. I'm not afraid, and Most Police Agency's already have that policy in effect. Would be interesting if Lawyers were forced to though...lol.

My only response to that suggestion would be they better start with Welfare recipients or anyone body else receiving assistance first.

I am sure that this aspect of the case you mention is only part of the entire investigation.

There was a reason why he was being watched in the first place.

They are not gonna give up the entire story before any hearings take place, that will all come out during Court proceedings.

what a shame, i have known Mr.A for 20 years and he taught all three of my children, he is an outstanding teacher who devotes himself to professionalism and he is truly loved by the children he has taught, i have never heard a person say anything negative about Mr. A This is definately a case where bad things happen to good people, i wish for his sake this wouldnt have happened, but now that it has, and the situation over in bethlehem with the principle, maybe pop drug testing would be a good idea, the bus drivers are periodically tested, i have been tested at my job, why not the teachers of our children, this could be a tool that could prevent such things. Mr. A now owes his dept to society and the court system will handle that, and i am sure the school board has its policy on such items and will act accordingly, i hope for his sake he can make his way through this and get his life back on track, we all have skeletons hidden in our closets and you never know when they will come out, Mr A will probably spend some time in jail and probation, lose his job and his teaching credentials, and also be fined for his actions, what a waste of a great teacher because of drugs and his involvement in such activities

I second that suggestion! How can we make it a law?Oh,I forgot,we already have laws on the books that aren't being enforced due to special interest groups fighting them.
COOL laws for one, stand for Country Of Origin Labels. In 2002,the USA was supposed to label all foods to show which nations the products came from but it has been fought & delayed these five years by the many importers
who are afraid to tell consumers that the foods they buy may have been produced in third world countries.

What happened to all the posts from last night?? Was there to much info on this teacher here that topix felt the need to delete them?? Yes Mr A was a nice man..But if you ask me he was a bit strange..Im sorry I dont think he should be able to teach after all this is over..There has been to much controversey with him in the past,I think if Catty is smart they will not let him back into the district...No parent in their right mind is going to want him teaching their children..

No,they disappeared on my computer as well. That's what ya get when ya hire someone who lied that they graduated from a junior college and who has lied on all their job resumes to being something they weren't and subsequently got fired from previous jobs or asked to leave.
Not their fault they have multiple arrests in various states for drug and alcohol abuse.Someone else got them hooked back thirty years ago, spending money like it was water, maxing out their credit cards and running to bars daily to get sloshed.
Don't check out anyones credentials or run a background check.Might find out too many things that wouldn't sit well with other employees who actually graduated from college and are focused on their work instead of speeding thru an assignment in order to run out and get high.

I see they are running this as an updated story. There is probably another thread farther back that has previous comments. I was following the story about the Parkland-Penn state football player and saw there were at least 3 threads running on that. I went out for a few hours, came back and found that a number of posts had been erased.

Well said. I also have known Mr. A for decades and saw him to be a kind, wonderful person who tried to bring sunshine to all those around him. He doesn't have a mean bone in his body. Please, if you feel you need to talk negatively about him, look at your mother, father, brother, sister, children and know no family is immune from these kind of issues. What is important is how we deal with our problems. I pray for recovery for him and that his family will somehow be able to find happiness.

Now why did'nt they bust him on the spot??Why follow him home? Why did he have to be arrested in front of his family? I think there is something missing from this story..
