I know all the bad stuff about trying to control who should or should not have kids and the stuff the Nazi's did, but you BIL should have had his nuts clipped at puberty. Your sister, too, for that matter. Sorry if that offends you, but the girl had no defenses and apparently no one to protect her
Fry both of them in this life and the next.I don't care that she was simple. Somethings even low functioning people should know or they shouldn't be left alone with children.
Are you close enough geographically to be able to help with the love and support she needs?
no, I'm not offended in any way ,i can't stand those two ,i never said she was simple someone else said that , oh they knew right from wrong and didn't care , i lived in bethlehem until 2004, then i moved to michigan they have my niece in a grouphome somewhere ,i don't know where nobody will tell me where she is or how she's doing.

The big problem is that in the Lehigh Valley, children at risk are being left with their families because it has been decided that it is better than foster care.

There is a movement to provide services for parents that are abusive/neglectful while the child is in the home, rather than removing the child. An aside, these services are already available for parents who have their children removed, but few take advantage.

Organizations like Lehigh valley families togher http://www.lvfamiliestogether.org/ have a lot of influence, and we will see more and more of this happening, because the children are left in or returned to unsafe home. The only thing that will stop it is public outcry.

I didn't think Cereal City was downplaying the damaging nature of the crime perpetrated on this young girl. I thought he/she was emphasizing the fact that having been a victim in no way diminishes the child's worth, and that as a 10 year old there is absolutely no way the girl was responsible for what happened to her: all the guilt is on the perpetrator and the enabler, both of whom SHOULD have been the girl's protectors.
And I hope that somehow this little girl learns what love really is.

If this was your niece, would you stop? I wouldn't. She needs someone to step up for her.

Try calling the PA version of Children and Family Services and ask for teh case worker assigned to your niece's case. Tell them you are concerned and a relative and ask that they give your niece your love. They may or may not allow contact;that is probably being controlled by a judge at this point.
Your strongest card may well be that you are from out of the area and presumably had less or no contact with the bio parents, may they burn in h-e-l-l.

I agree. How much are you willing to pay for that? How much do you think CPS workers should get paid? How much do you think they do get paid? Don't know about elsewhere, but here in Chicago it's between $20,000 to $30,000 for bachelor's level positions and $30,000 to $40,000 for master's level positions. No matter how sincere and dedicated one is, not many people can live on that kind of money.

It is a screwed up country we live in where people who throw a ball or show their bits and pieces in front of a camera make millions of $$, but people in these most important of jobs make squat.

This poor girl/child is left without a family or family support system. No one stood by this innocent. She is in residential placement. I bleed for her.
