I went to the Southern Lehigh production, and frankly, I was amazed. It was absolutely flawless. And West Side Story is a tough gig.
Those kids deserve a lot of credit for their work and dedication. I hope they do well.

Congratulations to all those nominated. I think it is wonderful that more respect is being given to this extra curricular activity. however, I do have one small issue. I would like to know how much money is being spent on some of these shows. I have heard that Freedom spent as much as $65,000 to produce the Wizard of Oz. Now if this is all raised by the cast and crew (ads, car washes, etc.) that is fine. If taxpayer money is being used, I have a problem. I am not just talking about Freedom. Liberty did Peter Pan and paid for professionals to come in to help cast members fly. I know this is not cheap. How much do these schools pay to win an award? What is the message being sent? Don't stop having the shows. Just use some common sense when looking at cost.
Good luck to all the nominees.

Hmm, me thinks you stink as well. The drain of the pedestal continues.

I have no idea how much they cost, but don't forget they do get the price of the tickets.

I could care less EXCEPT what it cost the taxpayer. Yea I know, the teacher/director did it for free. How about all the educational time the poor children lost. Wanna bet the poor children spent more time this week acting when studing.

I don't think any educational time was lost -- it is my understanding that all rehearsals were after school and on Saturdays.

It is great that the schools are becoming competative about something other than athletics! I took my niece to see the production at Freedom. It was simply superb! What a positive experience for all involved. It was certainly worth the $10 per ticket that I spent.

I saw a few productions myself, and I think that parkland's was very impressive and modern. I never would have thought such a thing could come from a high school. I think that southern and parkland, deserve many awards.
