"Others have complained that the project is being used to justify new development in areas without an adequate independent water supply. "

This is not a complaint, it's a fact. The BOS, along with the EHD have continually used the SVWP as an excuse to increase building in the North County area. It's "paper water" justification. Now the BOS wants a "specific list of benefits from the project"?! HUH? If you don't know what the benefits are to the project, how can you simply add to something that is being depleted?

Just in the last three months the BOS added 3 to 4 new lots of record in the North County Prunedale area, knowing full well that there is a very serious water quality problem. The only common sense thinker was Supervisor Jane Parker. The rest, including Calcagno okayed it. Now he wants to know the "specific benefits from the project", including a time line.

Would you puncture a hole in your boat knowing that you don't have a plan, or resource to fix the problem? Very poor leadership and vision is an understatement.

I wonder why environmentalists dislike people so much? Is it a nature vs nurture question? Some kind of collective mental issue?

Dear Gopher,
Just so you know, I am not a tree hugger or whatever else you might conjure up. I happen to live in North County. The whole region is well over 250% in overdraft. Having the current supervisor continue to increase the population by allowing housing, whether it be small subdivisions, or SFD, is totally irresponsible. His lack of concern, regardless of what he says, has continued to show itself every single time he okays another straw in the emptying glass. His vision and common sense, or lack thereof, is directly porportional to his actions. I invite you and the current representation of the district to live in the area, and truck in hundreds of dollars worth of potable water so you can sustain yourself, all the while, your represntative continues to c*r*a*p in your hand.

So if there was sufficient water, you're saying you wouldn't have a problem with more houses?
