Man seriously hurt when hit by car in Salinas

I hope the guy survives... but too many people think the pedestrian has the right away all the time and that's where they're wrong. Pedestrians have a right of way only in crosswalks and cars need to yield to them. Where there's no crosswalks the car has the right off way and pedestrians HAVE to yield to the car.
I occasionally drive through Salinas and I get these self righteous people just stepping directly into moving traffic think they're cool or something not thinking they are endangering themselves and the occupants of the driver as they can cause an accident. Then you those horrible mothers the shove thier strollers first into oncoming traffic to slow them down to cross. Ohh and watch out Sunday mornings when church services ends, partitioners think because they attended church that they are invincible and blindly cross the streets.
This poor guy had to learn the hard way...
