We are planning to buy a house on Scarlet Oak Ct, close to Martinez border. Is it a safe area? Overall statistics on safety for Pleasanton is lower than for US.
Which areas of this town are BAD?
Thanks!

concord is a good place to live.but do you know why there police force is one of the biggest if not the biggest is because in the mid 90's they had alot of gangs forming all over the city.north concord was home of V.C.N vadeo concord nortenos.solano way and grant was home of SOLANO SIDE AND DOG POUND .MOUMENT WAS HOME OF SUR13. TRG.CLAYTON ROAD WAS HOME.NORTENOS.IN THE MID 90'S CONCORD POLICE HAD A SMALL DEPARTMENT ON PARKSIDE DRIVE .BUY THE LIBARY WHEN THINGS WERE GETTING OUT OF HAND THE CONCORD POLICE DAPARTMENT BUILT A NEW FUCILTY 5 TIMES BIGGER THAN THERE LAST ONE. THEY ALSO PUT THREE SUB STATIONS IN THE THREE PARTS OF CONCORD ONE'S ON MOUMENT ONE'S ON SOLANO AND GRANT AND THE OTHER ONES CLAYTON.THEY DID ALL THIS AROUND 1996.BUY DONIG THESE THINGS THE POLICE CAN ALWAYS STAY ON TOP OF THE GANGS.MOST THE GANG MEMBERS IN THAT TIME ARE EITHER LOCK UP OR DEAD.OR SOME CHANGE THERE LIVES AROUND.BUT IN THAT TIME CONCORD WAS GETTIN REAL BAD BUT THE POLICE WERE ON TOP OF THERE GAME AND CONCORD IS SILL A GOOD PLACE LIVE.THEY STILL HAVE GANGS BUT THEY CANT DO WHAT THE 95 96 GANGS WERE DOING BACK THEN.

I currently live near grant -- not far from the hospital and have for the last 20 yrs. Have had NO PROBLEMS in our neighborhood. But I am sure that you who don't even live in corcord have no real idea what you are talking about.

If I lived off Solano and Grant, I would have moved to Kentucky too.
There are many good areas of Concord. Sure they are "bad areas" but they are all over just about every city. You just have to have a little common sense about where you go.
The "Mexican Gang" problem is not wide spread. Just don't be stupid about what is going on around you. Sure South of Detroit Ave.(One Gang hood) North of Meadow Lane.(The Other Gang). Hanging around Sunshine Drive between Meadow and Detroit, Your likely to see some Cop's type action.

I moved to Concord in 2010 and have lived on Meadow Lane the entire time.

Things I've had to deal with:
1) Someone smashing my car window and stealing my leather jacket, but not my iPod or stereo
2) Random non-english speaking hoodlums trying to camp out on my steps smoking weed - which I honestly don't mind so much, except for the fact that they DON'T LIVE HERE - I DO!
3) Graffiti, graffiti, graffiti. This is not the place to live if you hate, hate, hate having your property tagged up by gang members who would have received an F in Art due to their absolutely horrendous tagging skills. I've seen MUCH prettier graffiti elsewhere LOL
3) Meth heads. Crazy people. Random people you've never seen before that will yell at you and call you things like "f**king b**ch" for absolutely no reason just because you're walking to your mailbox.

Sadly, I don't have the money to move just yet and after living here for a year and a half, those issues have only popped up a few times very randomly. You're pretty alright so long as you stay inside or go elsewhere for your enjoyment - Hanging out outdoors here is just a big no-no, you're just asking for crazies to bother you.

I live alone too so it absolutely sucks at the moment, but I will hopefully be getting the hell out of here sooner than later!

Diagnosis? Livable, but only if you really have no other choice.

Also, to note - most of the gangs in Concord are full of high school kids and young, dumb, unemployable idiots - mostly of Spanish/Latin descent. It's not racism, it's fact - just open your eyes!

How about the Pleasant Hill neighborhood just off the 680 frwy off of Monument Blvd? Everyone says to stay away from Monument Blvd in Concord, but is this PH area on the Concord border considered safe?
