Up-and-Coming Democrats

I realize the next presidential election is three years away but it's now about the time that future candidates need to establish some name recognition is they don't already have it. I see Rand Paul and Ted Cruz doing this on the republican side but I'm not seeing anyone yet for the democrats. Assuming that the Benghazi story will knock Hillary out and Biden won't get the nod because he's an idiot, do any of you see any promising democrats that might emerge -- possibly from the ranks of the governors?

It doesn't matter.

If the Dems continue having the demographic advantage in enough states to get 270 electoral votes, they can run anybody. And they are doing everything they can to cement that and increase it, with early voting, swollen rolls and pork for supporters--while it lasts that is--and immigration "reform" sure to bring Texas, Ariz. North Car. and Florida solidly into the blue column in the future with legions of newly minted Hispanic voters solidly clamped onto the gov't teet.

That said, I see Hillary as the 2016 Pres pick--Benghazi is a red herring--scandals don't affect Dems like they do Repubs. My 2016 VP picks would be Deval Patrick or Mark Warner. I'd guess Patrick would have the upper hand because he is black and will bring the base to the polls, but Warner has a longer and better record IMHO.

Don't forget Ryan and Walker for the Repubs. Cruz is trying to get some of the Latino buzz but is a newbie and kind of an outlier really. So is Paul.

Eventually, the loose monetary trick will run out of steam and the US will have to agree to some serious medicine. Entitlement payments will have to either stagnate, shrink, or become less juicy because of inflation, and its possible that enough entitlement types--blacks SEIU types, in particular, wont turn out in the record numbers of late. Lower income working and young folks will likely realize the bind they are in and Lib Dems will lose their rock star status.

This could create a small chance that Repubs could get 270, but just a little chance, not much, but a little hope for the White House. If this occurs, you may see Ryan and/or Walker make a bold move with a serious fiscal reform platform in 2020.

Things will be interesting, but will largely suck for another 5 plus years. IMHO we are about 5 years into a 15-20 year down cycle, and it may take serious social unrest or a major war to pull the US out.

The Dems have been known to regularly eat their own in the political game of saving face. They will ultimately throw Obama under the bus for Benghazi (figuratively speaking of course) all in the name of saving their queen bee Billary for a 2016 run at the WH. My prediction is she'll pick Rahm Emanuel as her VP running mate. He fits the Chicago politic theme and was the Democratic machine's de-facto candidate for Mayor. In the 2014 Mids, the House will fall from Repub control to the Dems and the Senate will stay Dem. Then, the republic you once knew will be primed and forever beholden to the dependent masses. If you thought elections have consequences lately...you ain't seen nothing yet.

"Then, the republic you once knew will be primed and forever beholden to the dependent masses" If we get to the point where all three houses--white, senate, reps, are democratic again, as capital and tax base flee the US look for Keynsian stimulus--printing cash like the world has not seen since oh, Zimbabwe or the Wiemar Republic.

Dems will then be able to complete the transition to full socialized medicine; greater govt control--with a return of stagflation; and the big kahuna--immigration reform, adding millions to Democratic voter rolls.

But eventually the pendulum will swing the other way like in 1980 or extreme social unrest with emergence of powerful white extremism.

Re 2016 I think Benghazi is a red herring. Dem voters want slop in the hog trough and don't care about foreign events. And there are enough swing voters that don't care to make it a Dem win.

Two Chitowners on the ticket would be too much for a national platform with as many planks as the Dems.

My prediction--Hil for Pres and an eastern, mid Atlantic pol for VP==preferably a governor--Patick (black) would be a more realistic pick. Longshot--Villaraigosa former mayor of LA--as a nod to Latinos. Dems are all about racial identity.

You should care. The bill comes due eventually.

And let me tell you, if the pols think that you really aren't watching or don't care, they will really turn on the stink machine.

Look at Detroit and what what Kwame Kilpatrick did there. Look at St Louis County and what Dooley has got going, even the county NAACP is not backing him any more. Labor and the prosecutor has backed away from him. Funny what an FBI investigation can do.

Obama jrs. can be stopped by hot lead--as Mr. Zimmerman pointed out.

No need to throw the kids under the bus--this is fixable.

Get involved and stay involved. Pick out an issue or two, and figure our which governmental entity is responsible, and make it your business. Introduce yourself to the responsible pols, have a little conversation with them to demonstrate your knowledge, and believe me, they will remember your name and who you are.

You should go back to voting that way. History will be on your side. Today is a good indicator of whats to come. Booker won in Jersey. Figured he would. The repub party is a disaster and in major melt down mode. They lost big time today and it makes them look like a bunch of empty suits. The puke repubs have no leverage at all anymore. I think youre right. The democrats will kick their asses in the mid terms and win both houses of congress. Hillary is a shoe in for 16. Emanuel is a turd and Id hate to see him picked. I think Debbie Wasserman Schultz would be perfect for the ticket. The next victory for our party will be the immigration bill. When we get 10 million more democrat voters with the aliens, these radical republicans will never ever gain power again. Amnesty will save the democrat party F O R E V E R! YAYYYYYYY! I love being on the government teet and cant wait until I can take full advantage of Obamacare for me and my 9 kids. EBT is a wonderful thing and I was petrified the other day when the whole system went down. Thank God for the democrat party and I only wish Obama could be elected again. Who knows maybe he can skirt the constitution and be president for life. Vote vote vote. God bless America.

It has been over a year since I started this thread and I still don't see any democrats emerging to challenge Hillary for the 2016 race. Would love to have some democrat posters respond. Considering the fact that Hillary has f--ked up almost everything she's been involved with in her political life, I'm waiting for someone to take the torch away from her to run against whoever the republicans nominate. Are there any democrat governors who have a record worthy of becoming a presidential candidate?

I may be beating a dead horse with this thread but since Hillary seems to be imploding with scandals involving the foreign donations to the Clinton Foundation and now this fiasco with her refusal to use a government email address when she was Secretary of State, some people on the democrat side (other than Warren and Biden) need to step forward as a candidate for 2016. Any of you die-hard democrats out there have any names (possibly governors) that would make a viable candidate to run against whoever the milktoast republican elites (like Carl Rove) force upon the voters? I'm thinking Rove & Co. will do everything in their power to get Jeb Bush to be the nominee.

Personally not a democrat, but I'm thinking Hil is absolutely going to be the first name on the ticket, and will torpedo uncle Joe in every way possible to make it that way--and vis a versa. My guess is that a lot of the present dust up re Hil's emails may be coming from unc Joe's operatives.

Second on the dem ticket--would be Duval Patrick, Mario Cuomo, or small possibility--Antonio Villagoroso. Long shot would be uncle Joe. I hedge on Patrick and Cuomo because everybody is upper east coast--but dem nat'l politics are more about identity than geography these days.

Regardless, I hate to say it, but my bet is that Hil is going to be Prez on Jan 20, 2017, simply because of the electoral college weighting to the big blue states.

I agree with TTU. The shifting demographics of our country mitigate in favor of a democratic victory. Unless if there is a seismic shift it will be difficult for the republicans to ever again win the presidency.

I am neither a democrat or a republican but let me ask a question> North County and the City of Florissant has been governed by democrat over many, many, many years and look what, where, how, and why have STOPPED progress for this region.

Q> Do you think there is a problem with the way government profiles, targets, and uses the authority for the good of many rather than a few?

I am totally disappointed in the machine behind the scenes of North County Politics.

We, the voters, are accountable to allow this to happen. Many are just worn out due to the process of the political machine.

The power of YOUR vote can begin making the difference. The rally cry should be:

This is my government, I want it back! So I am voting for that difference!

Thank you, John C. Engelmeyer, just an ordinary guy with a voice. Let us stand together.

If the people in North County were ambitious enough to learn history so they don't repeat the mistakes, they could really benefit from a study of what destroyed Detroit. Unfortunately, Florissant will be lucky to get a significant voter turnout so the citizens will end up with what they deserve. Voter apathy and low-information voters are about to ruin this great nation -- at all levels.

Dont need to study Detroit. Look no further than Dellwood, Jennings and Normandy.

Whether you elect a Schneider or a Behlmann or whoever, in the long run, there is a federally sponsored scheme to run you out of town so that a favored demographic can take your houses for basically nothing. Started with rental programs. Then the schools. Now the police and local govts.

I take care of a rental house in Bellefountaine Ns for a relative. The house has basically new siding, doors, windows, roof, and HVAC, all installed since 2000. The house and land is now not worth the cost of those improvements. And it is a nice house. The tenant is an illiterate baby making machine and her brood, fully financed by the govt and managed by an agency. They pay her rent, utilities and taxes. I assume they feed her and her brood also. I take care of the exterior, including rake leaves and clean gutters. They never go outside and basically watch TV all day and night--and they have Charter?????????? She is my third tenant in 2.5 years. The others were evicted at my request for lease violations. It is really unbelievable.

Too bad LBJ isn't still alive. He would be so proud to see how his Great Society programs are helping your tenants. Plus, if he was alive, he would be a shoe-in to be re-elected as president. Remember his bragging that his programs would keep the dependent masses (Topix word police won't let me write what Johnson really said) voting democrat for the next 200 years.

In the case of my tenant, not sure she is capable of living on her own or holding a job, she is really dim.

I was over there one day taking care of the yard, and she came up to me with a ticket that was on her car. Expired plates. Pretty simple, but she could not read it. Sad. And apparently her children are on disability. Crack exposed. I guess I can understand it possibly happening once. But she has two. There was one car seat, but it was not secured. Her front tires were basically bald. But she has Charter and some kind of big phone, and all of the hair extensions and paintbrush eyelashes!

I really cannot grasp this girl's reality. Seems like maybe a dorm or an assisted living apartment would have been a better idea, something with onsite supervision. When society puts a person like that in a single family house, in the Riverview Gardens School District no less, with no capability to help with homework, with the burden of owning a car, I think that it is stacked for failure. And she is by far the best of the 3 tenants that I have had.

TTU -- I know you read a lot of books to keep informed so I thought I would suggest to you a book I just started reading. I suggested this on another Topix thread but repeat it below in case you didn't see it. It's quite insightful.
----------
For those of you calling people racists as well as those being called a racist, there is a fairly new book out (written by a black man named Taleeb Starkes) that might interest you. The Topix word police won't let me print the subtitle but the main title is The Un-Civil War. I just started reading it so I can't give you an honest review but here's what is on the back cover: "Taleeb Starkes admittedly possesses multi-layered animosity towards a dysfunctional and sociopathic subculture that openly exists within the African-American community. His abhorrence runs so deeply that he has dedicated a substantial portion of his adult life combatting them and their tenets. For more than a decade, he has used mentorship to deter the youth from being seduced by this subculture; however, that lone, altruistic effort has seemingly done little to stifle their steady proliferation. Feeling a sense of urgency, his strategy was revised to focus on penning this confrontational book. Although this book vividly captures his experiences and addresses the cultural divide within the African-American community, it should not be dismissed as another anecdotal tale of an inner-city existence. Instead, it's a war report that's flooded with statistics, headlines, and evidence exposing this eminent threat to society. Hopefully, his radical effort will inspire similarly frustrated, like-minded citizens to speak out against this menacing subculture. Undoubtedly, whether the book is cheered or jeered, it is definitely a catalyst for candid conversation."

Amazon has 133 reviews of this book with a rating of 4 1/2 stars out of 5. You may want to read some of the reviews before purchasing.

Thanks MW, its on my list. What is really scary here is that this "subculture" is really an engineered product. No different than Marines who were trained to kill and hate their enemy during basic training, then unleashed on the battle field. These "thugs" we are seeing now are literally foot soldiers in an ongoing cultural war for vast spans of land and booty.

When the subculture first lands on the beach, it is used to ruin schools, driving off young families. Then the subculture floods in and gains a population majority, which is used to gain control of the local school districts so the handlers can loot them.

The subculture's continued presence is then used to ruin neighborhoods with crime so that the houses are cheap and plentiful for the slum lords to buy and run as section 8 and other low income housing scams like Canfield Greens. That eventually deteriorates and the handlers then get community development block grant cash from sympathetic gov'ts. This is occurring in literally every major city in the US and is very lucrative.

The latest twist is that when the outgoing demographic uses CCW and aggressive policing to try and hold the line, the handlers respond by ginning up a Trayvon Martin or Mike Brown incident, to try and emasculate the cops and local CCW folks.

Fortunately, in MO the legislative majority is well aware of the goings on and is on the side of the good guys. They have been aggressive in the school arena, and aren't likely to get snookered. In the Fed system the good guys have the majority in both houses and at least some are aware of what's going on, and besides, the feds are literally broke. So other than the BS from DOJ civil rights division, there is not much coming out of the feds.
