Florida roads are usually flat, straight and dry. How DO people screw it up so bad?

I drove by this morning and there is a huge hole in the concrete barrier wall. She had to be going pretty fast to put a hole in it that big.

To the friends and family of this accident victim...My heart goes out to you for your loss and I know you are suffering great grief. Please let this be the last comment you read. My daughter was killed in an accident last week and people left hateful and vicious comments that were incredibly painful for the family.
To people reading these comments...many will post claiming to know details, they do not. many will post claiming to me someone they are not (ie the wife of an officer on the scene, a witness who was there when it happened) they are not. The people who write these terrible things are sick individuals who have some twisted desire to put in they're FALSE two cents. noone knows the details of an accident within days of it happening and please don't encourage these hateful people with responce.

You are so right.Thank you for these kind words. I agree with you 100%. Everyone jumps to conclusions before they know the facts. They think they know it all. My heart goes out to you and your family over your loss and to the family of these two young women.

I am SO SO sorry about your daughter, the pain you are in must be almost unbearable. I cannot imagine. You are absolutely right in saying what you did, and it was very kind of you to reach out in such a terrible time for you.

I was friends with Christine. We met while we were really young and working together at a local movie theater probably 6 yrs ago. She was a very sweet girl who was SO EXCITED to be dating a great guy. They were engaged and were planning their future together. Please don't leave comments about her state of mind. You don't know this girl. She could have made a simple mistake and removed her eyes from the road for just a couple of seconds. She was a great friend and will be missed by her friends, family, and Billy. She and I drifted apart and have not spoken in quite a while, but I can tell you that it broke my heart to read this article today and see Christine's names mentioned as the fatality.

I am glad to see there is someone out there who has never made a mistake while driving! Why do you keep assuming booze or drugs were involved? You are mean and insensitive and your radical comments have no place on a board where someone's daughter/mother/fiance/best friend just passed away in a terrible accident. Why would you assume someone was not nice or kind simply because they wrecked their car? Most people I know have been in at least one car accident. Christine was a beautiful, intelligent, friendly, and vibrant young woman who was in the process of planning a wedding with the guy she has been dating for years. She had her whole life ahead of her. And all you can do is make blanket statements regarding her value as a human being based upon the fact that you assume (for no reason) that there was booze or drugs involved. Why? Because she was SPEEDING? Do not tell me you never speed. Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones, Rockwell. Please quit leaving negative comments on this board. Instead, focus your thoughts on the young lady who is fighting for her life in the hospital.

Christine was a great person and truly cared about people. She always respected other people and tried to help them. It would be nice if people who did not know her, or were not there to see what exactly happened, would be respectful of her and not say such negative things! The bottom line is she, along with her fiance and family, lost out on a promising future. I would like to finish with a quote that I learned as a child "If you don't have something nice to say, don't say anything at all."

sure be interesting to see when they find out what was involved. booze, drugs, stupidity... I'm surprised that they flew across 17-92 without stopping & never hit someone on that road. thank God for that! one thing is for sure, she must have really been flying to go through that concrete wall. it's not a small wall.
You're so sad. What if she had a seizure and her body became rigid to the point that her foot slammed the excelerator and caused her to crash at a high speed??? It's such a pain to live amongst people who are as thoughtless & as quick to decide as YOU. She has a family that will ultimately read your ignorant comments and feel even worse than they already do. Nice attitude;)

To those of you posting negative comments, tell me something. If this was your sister, mother, wife, daughter, girlfriend, would you still think she was an awful person for being in a car accident? Please refrain from speaking ill of the dead. All it does is break hearts. She was a wonderful person, and deserves more respect. Especially because YOU are alive and well. She is not here to defend herself. Grow up and leave her family and friends to mourn. Let Christine rest in peace. As Sarah said, you should focus your energy on the girl fighting for her life.

**Tink, God be with you and your family. I'm so deeply sorry for your loss.

Did you ever stop to think that maybe something got lodged behind the pedal and they weren't able to brake, or that there was a malfunction in the cars steering column? You don't live in this area and have no idea what kind of person Christine was, so you should really keep your foul opinions to yourself. I knew and loved Christine, we were friends for almost 3 years and I can say with all my heart that she was a kind, generous person who loved life and the people around her...and even if the toxicology report comes back with something in her system, it makes this tragedy no better or worse. We've still lost this beautiful girl and her family and friends will still have to face the grief of losing her. You could at least take the feelings of the living into consideration before you speak ill of the person they lost. Shame on you man, I hope when you die your family doesn't have to go through the heartache of people like you bashing the person they lost.

one person is dean, another may die. that car could have hit others & possibly killed innocent people. and all I hear is she made a little mistake? it wasn't a little mistake. the facts will come out even thought so many don't want to really know what they are. but if beside the unlawful speeding, running a stop sign, possible booze and/or drugs are involved, then what????? then they were not such nice, kind people. they put other lives in jeopardy. sorry but there is NO EXCUSE for that kind of behavior.
I knew Christine. She WAS NICE & KIND. What makes you think it was her fault at all. We do not know the details of what happened. I prefer not to judge others, specially when I do not know all of the facts. You do NOT have the right to make such judgements either, NO ONE does. At a time like this when people should be reaching out to others who have lost someone, you choose to write mean and hatefull things about someone you don't even know? Shame on you!
My heart goes out to Kristen's family & friends. R.I.P. Christine, you were loved and you will be missed.

Assuming the worst in people? Someone you don't even know? You should learn not to judge. You should certainly learn not to speak ill of the dead and respect the living. ANYTHING could have gone wrong. How about some sympathy for the family & friends of both woman.
I knew Christine and she was a wonderful loving person. R.I.P. lovely Christine, you will be missed.

This road was not flat, straight, or dry at the time of the accident.

They call them accidents for a reason. She was driving a car that was not hers in a dark area she may not have been in a while. Maybe you should wait for an official statement by law enforcement. She may not have been at fault at all!

I'm a firefighter and have been to many auto accident scenes and it does not take as much speed as you might think to put a hole in a concrete barrier.

This blog is ridiculous. Some of the scenarios about the seizures, the dirt under the pedal and such stuff ridiculous. It was an accident that's it. A young person lost her life. That is a tragedy. All this accusing and stuff. Some of you need to get a life and quit blogging.
