Unbelievable! The woman had a history of mental illness and they let her have a gun. This murder/suicide thing seems to becoming quite popular and rampant lately and most likely because of this horrible economy and unemployment. The same reasons most crimes are on the rise. These cowards who want to off themselves are taking others with them, most often taking their whole family with them. I wonder if the woman's son knew anything about his mothers intentions to murder him before she offed herself. Maybe her future looked absolutely bleak and worthless to her in these hard times but I find it hard to believe any 20 year old has nothing to live for and that his own mother made such a decision for him. Hell it isn't safe to be around your own family members, especially in the home in these hard times.

Things like this seem to be happening more and more. Family members taking others with them. Obviously, the son had trust with his mother. Just because she wanted out, it's so sad that she took her son along with her.

Another idiot writing about guns who knows nothing about people who have chosen to own and become proficient with a gun for various legitimate reasons. I tell you what. Please go to your computer and make yourself a sign to place by your front door.

I really hope we have someone other than Casselberry PD investigating this. Those guys couldn't figure out a connect the dots picture let alone a real crime. I just hope none of them slip and fall while they're at the scene.

I was at the Shoot Straight Apopka Store @ 1:32PM.
Attendance was very light. Which is quite shocking as it
is normally overly packed on the weekend.
I just bought a Springfield Armory XD .357 and along with my XD .9mm I had a very good day at the range. The XD is an amazing weapon and I was very pleased.
I do on occasion shoot at the Casselberry store, but Apopka is my main store.

It is unlawful for a mentally ill person to own or possess a handgun in Florida. It us unlawful for someone under 21 to purchase a handgun in Florida. Our legislators must have missed something for this to happen. Let's pass some more laws!

The vast majority of people who are murdered are killed by people they know-usually friends or relatives. In this case a mother killed her son. How does having guns in your house protect you against family members who want to kill you with the family gun? You say Democrats have no brains. Does this mean you Republican gun nuts are geniuses?

How about the idiots that drink and drive? How about unprotected swimmng pools that drown little children on a weekly basis in this area? Idiots always find ways to be idiots - has nothing to do with a gun.

Oh so you all have the CORRECT answers.
As of March 2009-

In the ENTIRE USA-the car you drive cased 15.3 Deaths per 100,000 folks.
Poisoning- 8.0 deaths per 100K
Bicycles & Trikes-.3 per 100K
Firearms-.27 per 100K
So Cars, Poisoning, Falls, Choking, Drowning, Fires, Medical Mishaps, Bikes were many, many times more DEADLY and CAPRICIOUS than Firearms!

Your 57 times more likely to die in a car than a Firearm accident.

These are the latest statistics.
So before making a bonehead argument about "guns kill people" and want to regulate it away ( in complete violation of the 2nd Amendment in the US Constitution ), before that is done, make sure cars, bikes and other things are regulated.

In the USA, 43,000 folks were killed by Drinking then Driving.

If you run those numbers quickly, you get an average of 117 Americans who are murdered by Cars every 24 hours.
That's 819 in a week.
That's a staggering 3,276 Americans murdered by DUI every single month.

The problem is not weapons, it's our attitude.
We need more NRA sponsored-education programs.
Educate folks, don't keep them ignorant.

Remember-the true idiots are behind the wheel.

Anybody care to dispute that?

Here's someone who can RENT a gun
and ammunition:

Attempted suicide by hanging.
Was examined in emergency room.
Was transferred under Baker Act
Was released to relative within 24 hrs

Here's someone who CAN NOT rent:

The above person who went to a range
3 weeks later and has already
killed himself.
