Federal and State regulators better get a hold on this bank...I did not get my 1099 last year until August...7 months late...and past the time I had to file my income tax...Calls to its Ohio corporate office went unheeded...calls to board members in Ohio went unheeded...this is a very dangerous bank and ALL depositors are in great peril...they keep blaming computer gliches when it is top management

no longer a customer either! This bank is horrendous! Do Not bank with them. They simply don't care about their depositors. Furthermore, they are the #1 bank for internet fraud and do nothing to stop it. Excessive fees, terrible service, and successive screw ups add up to a bank everyone should avoid.

Agree with the above posters - our mortgage was sold to them, and they were nothing but trouble. Frequently mis-crediting payments, erroneous late reports to credit agencies.

Incompetent, uncaring, rude staff. No concern for the damage their errors caused.

Unfortunately, these companies have no real liability for their negligence. We need to change the laws to hold these organizations responsible for the bad data they put out. As is, there is practically no penalty for their malfeasance.

credit reporting is now so automated- try talking to a human- and most of those do NOT understand FICO score and implications of a mistake. Region's "accidently" put a 120 day late. Guess what happens to your score. Also- try clearing something up with a past credit card that has been swallowed by bank mergers.-some admit they can't find the records but it STILL STAYS ON YOUR CREDIT!

5/3 Bank should have stepped up and given him the loans since it was their error. The unfortunate part is once there is a mark on your report, it takes forever to correct it.

Why would any want to put their money in a bank called Fifth Third Bank? It's a silly name for a bank.

It sounds like Fifth Third Bank better get their checkbook out. They have some hefty lawsuits heading their way!
Their damage control team should have bent over backwards for the affected customers. Their arrogance is outrageous.

The first time I saw their sign, the wife and I wondered how a Bank would select that title.

I would expect soon to see a Fifth third Bank.

Yeah, if they are so good with numbers they would have called it 1 and 2/3 instead :)

They should only stop growing so fast because they have a lot of problems and incompetency.

As far as being sick of seeing one every 2 miles- what's the big deal? It's a bank- they don't attract huge crowds, or crime, and people are in and out of banks within a few minutes, they're not ugly eyesores, they don't cause traffic tieups- what's the big deal?

I agree- their name alone is enough to keep me from ever opening an account there.

Great PR for the bank with the strange name. The bank's response shows wonderful customer service. Sounds just like the kind of bank that I would want to handle my money accounts!?

Supposedly their main branch is at
Fifth and Third Street (?) in Chicago.

Or so I have heard.

History
Fifth Third traces its origins to the Bank of the Ohio Valley, which opened its doors in Cincinnati in 1858. In 1871, that bank was purchased by the Third National Bank. With the turn of the century came the union of the Third National Bank and the Fifth National Bank, and eventually the organization became known as "Fifth Third Bank."
