This should be a reminder that we can all act "out of character" without proper maintenance of our character. When money, property, prestige, etc rule character, we act out of those values...and resort communities are areas highly defined by money, property and prestige.

This was not one of those "resort communities". George cut the timber, sawed the lumber and oversaw every aspect of building these small rental cottages. It was a dream he and Judy shared.

I remember when George went to his class reunion, he spoke often of his military service and even more often about his work in engineering with the phone company. His death is a tragedy and I cannot imagine what happened that night that led Mr. Picklesimer to pickup a gun.

I never met Jim Picklesimer and cannot speak to his character or place in the business but George was not a "second handyman" as described in other articles. There would be no "Whiteside Cove Cottages" without George Gunter. May he rest in peace.

I do know Jim,George and Judy. I see someone being used as a fall guy here. Jim has been used and abused for years by many. Jim is all heart and would never hurt anyone unless he thought a woman or child were going to be hurt. He is a very protective person. I have seen this by the way he has treated my children. Yes, I will still trust him today , before I will some other people I've known longer. Maybe someone else' motives needs to be questionedbesides Jim's.
