I looked on the Illinois Sex Offender's Registration page and the town of Casey seems to have 10 reported Sex Offenders. Considering Casey is such a small town, why do so many Sex Offenders live here? Does anyone know anything about them, like where their offenses here or did they just pick this town to move to? I just wanted to know if anyone knows if any of these people registered on the site are or have been a danger in our town?

They are always a threat, however, as long as they are "compliant" there is less of a problem. I, however, would be leary if one lived near me. I would be much more protective of my child.

There are 14 listed and (2) of those are in DOC. If you go to IL Sex Offender Reg, click on the name and it will tell you what the offense was and what county. It will also give you a pic. Need more. Check out www.JUDICI.com . Check surrounding counties. Read the "history".

Kenneth McCoy is a lifer, sad part, he procreated.

WHY do they come to small towns? Family? Country? Easy targets? Don't like big towns/cities?

Sometimes (very seldom) you will run across one that got "screwed" by the system. Far and few between but I do know of two in my lifetime.

Why do they come to Casey? Because there is an element town that encourages it by letting the prison system know that cheap housing will be provided if they come here after they are released. Since they are basically indigent, the state picks up the cost. It's a no-lose situation for the landlord.

Casey has a way of making it simple for non-workers who rely on the welfare system to reside in the city. Some of the landlords grab onto this government money, no matter what care their properties might receive. As long as it is encouraged, expect these kinds to continue moving here. Take a look around on a typical workday and see how many people, not old enough to retire, are roaming around. I would also believe the same applies to sex offenders, due to lack of ability to gain employment.

F.C.L.- I agree with you 100%. Officials in Casey are concerned with the "appearance" of town and not the issues that are of real concern; slumlords, etc. They would prefer to sweep it under the rug until it poses a problem.

They must not be completely concerned with the appearance or the buildings at the main four way would be redone. I happen to know a person living off of wellfare. She CAN'T get a job. No where is highering. So she goes through temp agencies and they screw her over. Have you ever tried to live off of a link card but not have enough gas to take your kids to school in the winter? Or even go to the store for food?? I know wa\hat its like. I live that kind of life. My fmaily has no money to get the nicer things in life. Like name brand foods. Let alone anything else name brand. It's not fun and it's hard. If my family could get a job life would be eaier. It's just not that easy.

I think that kz student has a point. There are a very limited number of jobs available in this town and sadly the number is shrinking.

kz student, I am sure that no one meant any harm by mentioning welfare. The programs were designed to aide people during the "hard times." Unfortunitly, like many good things, people take advantage of it and now there is a sterotype.

As much as people are complaining about Casey it may seem that the people here are cruel and unfeeling. In fact, we are so much the opposite! People don't move to Casey to live in Garard/Brewer rental properties, they move here because we have so much non-government aid in addition to the goverment aid. Our food pantry is just one example but the toy fund is another...the people here, especially the faith community are meeting needs.

I've heard a lot of responses regarding welfare, but not much on the real concern of mine... the sex offenders? Thank you 'Always Be Cautious', your information was very helpful!
I'm not sure what welfare has to do with sex crimes, I've heard of just as many rich people committing sex crimes as poor people! I mean honestly we all know more money means better lawyers, meaning more opportunities to get off more times.
Now back to the real issue here... has anyone tried to run these sex offenders out of town? Maybe with door to door fliers notifying the public, for those who don't have the internet? Since I had not heard anything about 'all' these sex offenders until now, I'm wondering just how comforted they are by living in Casey? Maybe if the people of KZ were more concerned about the people that commit crimes, rather then the people with less money... the town would have less of a problem when it comes to a HIGH about of rapist! Rape is a much BIGGER issue to me, then how much money anyone has... any day! I would feel a lot better knowing that my neighbor lived on food stamps, rather living next to some sick person with the desire to rape the three year old down the street! But thats just me.
I looked over some the other small towns and their 'Sex Offender' lists.... KZ is not too far from a lot of the bigger towns, when it comes to rape! The bigger towns have way more government housing then the smaller ones naturally, so thats clearly not the issue like some of you seem to think. Why does nobody speak up regarding these criminals... this is a HUGE issue people!!!! This is our town, our children, our wives, our mothers, and our safety!!! Does nobody else think 14 is a big number, we could run a whole car dealership just off of our sex offenders here.... thats enough sex offenders to individually rape a whole class room of OUR children!
Like I asked before, why are there so many living here? Why do the people of KZ sit back and let them feel safe living here... it should be them feeling uncomfortable. Not our children! Sex offenders often rape 'OUTSIDE' of the home, do you think they really care how much money the child has when they rape them?

Registered or not, its scary. Those people are still human. Nothing will ever change that. Why try to run them out of town? So they can move to a bigger or smaller town and get away with more??Not smart. Most of the sex offenders here are not hard to map out. Ive talked to many of them. You can tell there is something wrong with them. They seem ill. It is rather obvious. Ive been raped before. More than once. Yeah it hurts. More emotionally than physically. Eventually you learn to live with it. Its not easy by any means. But you learn to handle it in your own way.

I grew up next to a registered sex offender. I had no idea, ever. He had lots of grandkids that visited often and would come over to play. Never suspected anything. I moved out of Casey at 16. That was almost 10 years ago. I realized there would never be an opportunity of any kind for me there and left my family behind. My father is very well known in the town now as one of the biggest drug dealers around. He's constantly in trouble. I'm not sure how he's not in prison from his last big bust. When I was a teenager living there, we only had the disgusting pool hall and the park to hang out at. Most of my "friends" I had there are now living on welfare with no job, have drug habits and multiple children from multiple men. I cringe at the thought of going back but I do have to once in a while since my grandmother is very sick but I generally keep a low profile. I'm thankful I got married and no longer carry the family name thanks to the disgrace my father has brought to it. The name that was once a respectable business owning family name is now just trash. Its sad. People that have lived in Casey all their life are probably really happy not knowing how real communities live and thrive. They've never known anything different and I'm truly sad for the kids that live there now. I think very few will leave Casey and make something of themselves. High school kids reading this, head my advice: The grass is greener on the other side! Work hard in school, resist the temptations of drugs and unprotected sex (birth control anyone??) and get the hell out of there! You don't want to work at IGA or Casey Tool Machine all your life or worse, live on a link card!

If you go to www.isp.state.il.us/sor/ - 11k, you'll see these details about the Sex Crimes. It's the state's site, so things are more up to date and clear on the nature of the crime;such as the sex of the victim, the age of the victim, the county of the crime, and even if the offender is a higher risk(repeated offender or very violent or even kidnapped their victim). You can even further your search by a site called dirtsearch.com (this ones free) or for more detail there's always a full background! your local court house also holds public records, they release everything, but the child's name and it's free!I've personally noticed that most of the victims in Casey are females between the ages of 10-15 years of age! Kinda scary if you think about it, at that age children are normally more out going and loud.... only showing that most of these sex offenders don't care if they're noticed by the public! They can commit their crimes right under our noses and not blink an eye about being caught! Scary stuff if you ask me!Personally I always team my children up if they leave the house, it just gives me a better feeling about letting them out of my site!

I on one hand am very discouraged at this as well. I live in Casey and unfortunately it is our judicial system. We filed a case against a gentleman that sexually touched my 2 step daughters, they went through terrible interviews, detailed physicals (they are 9 and 11) and we take them to couseling. They county did not fully press charges and they moved to Paris, Il and it happened to 4 other girls he is now being sentenced for those. I blame our county because if they would have done something when we filed those other poor little girls wouldn't have had to go through this!!!!

yes there are other web sites each person can choose what one they want i like the watchdog they give name address pic of the people they have been known to add if this was a 13 to 18 year old or younger the pic is good due to fact if you do not know them or what they look like how will you know if they are contacting your children i think once a person who is found guilty of this crime should not be released into public they are sick

I completely agree with you. I'm not from Casey originally, but I've never met a meaner bunch of people in my life. Have you read the Topix forum on the Son Shine Center and what a CHURCH is doing to people in that town? They are allowing the "important" people to be cruel to the "nobodys" and no has been willing to stop them. Finally some people are blowing the whistle and it is UGLY!!! I agree there is no future in this town!

This town as what 3,000+ people in it, yet there's people saying this town has No FUTURE? I could see a small town of maybe 200 just giving up and tossing in the old towel, but Casey is just busy with people for someone to just give up. Every town has it's rut, you know where things seem to get a bit run down. All it takes is a few of those busy people that 'want' to show some Town Pride to get this ball on the roll! This town is sitting on a gold mind of history if we're talking about funding, there's always Historical Grants & Funding, as far as fixing the down town that is. If you were(as in all of us) to start talking about this town with some pride, maybe some of these youngsters might stop breaking local windows and start getting involved with the repairs this town needs to shine again! All this town needs is less whining and more action.... that includes of of us Adults, logging on here to talk about each other like the Jr. High children do at lunch. I've heard more cheep shots regarding peaty stuff like grammar and whining about who said what, then anything about what movements we're going to make to get this ball on a roll and clean this town up.... for good! This has nothing to do with church, a day care center, or who can spell better... this is about a town pulling together! We all need to care about our town, enough about giving up....lets try to look at ALL the towns problems and fix them, now! PS. It still concerns me on how & why this all message(above) ended up under this blog post, parents have the right to be informed by other concerned parents regarding the dangers living near their children. It's just polite to keep each other in the loop with information that is 'already' public. What is the old saying?"It takes a village to raise a child", so true in times like these. Many parents don't know much about the services they have online, let alone that this is free public information... when times change(and boy have they) people need to just reach out to each other and help a neighbor out. It's just the 'nice' thing to do!*I do believe there is a blog post already going about fixing Casey and the hopeless stuff you were talking about.... maybe you'll find the answers you were reaching out of there. I heard rumors of the town cleaning up, I hope with that note it brightens your views on the future of our town! There's is always hope!*

This topic is about child rapists, right? To me there's nothing crueler in the world then someone hurting a child!!! If a child doesn't have the RIGHT to be treated like a child, then why should we treat these sex offenders like humans? Please do tell! Yes there are laws to protect the offenders, but we also have the freedom of speech, as God Fearing Americans we can stand up to wrong doers! This really has nothing to do with any church or "important" people in town, but it has everything to do with protecting all of our children!Studies show that once a sex predator acts on their urges, they are more likely to repeat the act again... ever heard the term REPEAT OFFENDER? And for the record a child can be raped anywhere, not just on a dark street late at night. It could be at a friend's house, family member's house, walking up to the store, walking home from school, leaving church, or even in their own house! Sex offenders can also molest children of all ages, sizes, races, and they typically don't care how must money the child's parents make either... so sorry that card doesn't apply here! Maybe this town needs to get parents together more, to talk about what is going on in our town? So we all can better learn how to handle this topic with our own children. We as parents need to know what to ask our children, when to ask them, and why!(Just a thought to sit on)

Anyone needing further info and stats on pedophiles need only do a Google search. They are a ticking timebomb, and they very rarely reform.

And FYI, most child molestations are people known to the child, and many, many go unreported. Know the people you allow you child to be with.
