A jazz singer shocked some Denver residents after replacing the words to the national anthem with those of the "Black National Anthem" during the annual State of the City address this week.

Rene Marie was asked to sing "The Star-Spangled Banner" before Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper delivered the annual address on Tuesday. Instead, she sang the lyrics of "Lift Every Voice and Sing" — a hymn commonly referred to as the "Black National Anthem" — to the tune of the national anthem, MyFOXColorado.com reported.

"If anyone has got a right to be angry it's probably me," Hickenlooper told the station. "I guess what I feel most is just deeply disappointed."

The mayor said only Marie, her husband and a musical adviser knew what the local jazz singer had in mind.

"What she said was that she was very sorry, that she meant no disrespect, that she was trying to make a creative expression of her love for the country," Hickenlooper said.

But the change in lyrics angered many residents, including City Councilman Charlie Brown.

"I was mad," he told MyFOXColorado.com . "I almost walked off the stage."

The Fed Govt. has announced that this year for the July 4th, fireworks celebration in downtown DC using your tax money to pay for the fireworks, to pay for the police and EMT overtime, for the cleanup afterwards will also pay for phone messages of Fireworks information in Spanish. How refreshing that the 20 million illegals in the US can now understand where to go for a free show to celebrate the freedoms they would never get in there home country. Well we feed them, house them, educate them, medicate them, raise their kids and give them our Social Security so why not entertain them

Excuse me if I don’t shed any tears over the passing of former President Ronald Reagan. While the news of the 40th president’s death brought on a flood of sentimentality over the nation’s media this past weekend, I could not help but recall what the Reagan presidency really meant for Black Americans. Similar to what occurred upon the death of Richard Nixon, amnesia has set upon journalists as they recall Reagan’s era; choosing to indulge in idol worship rather than serious reflection on the former president’s policies.

Inspectors are collecting soil, water and produce samples, reviewing export logs and combing packing plants in three major tomato-growing states in Mexico.
Since April, more than 900 people have contracted the same strain of salmonella, but its source is unclear.
But the U.S. Food and Drug Administration appears no closer to finding the source of a mysterious salmonella outbreak that has sickened more than 900 people nationwide. It's not even 100 percent sure that tomatoes are the cause.
A team of three FDA inspectors has gone through five farms in the western states of Jalisco and Sinaloa in the past two weeks, looking at all aspects of tomato production: the greenhouses where they are grown, the packing plants where they are shut into boxes, the shipping methods for the trip north to the U.S.
They also plan to visit the northern state of Coahuila to finish up their study.
The results can't come too soon for the three Mexican states that were targeted by the FDA, along with farms in Texas and Florida.
Bonanza 2001 farm in Autlan, Jalisco, which normally exports about 12,000 tons of tomatoes a year to the U.S., has hundreds of tons sitting in a warehouse near the Texas-Mexico border as demand has plummeted, said spokesman Luis Almejo.

In Virginia, 1654 John Casor, a black man, became the first legaly recognized slave in the United States. He was "owned" by a black colonist named Anthony Johnson. check it out.

Well, got to go to Union Station in DC again today, 10 out of the first ten black women I saw ALL had butts 2x or 3x or 4x a large normal rear end. There was big, bigger and can not say biggest as once I see one that can not be beat, a bigger one comes down the isle, or trys to. Somewhere there must be a record of these things and how much they weight and how much food they need to be maintianed? Just to make an end to the day getting off in Baltimore there was a quad butt in front of me. I did not know if it was male or female as it had the baggy pants, the blinged sneaks and the dreadlock/corrow/ratsnest going on. When it turned I knew it was female as it was too ugly to be a guy. As if that is not enough, she pounced over to a car in the handcap space and drove away. No pride in looks, no pride in attitude and makes you wonder what all the black pride is about you see on TV with Al and Jessy? It will be great when we get a couple ifn the White House as it will make for great photo-oooops.

Everytime I start considering voting for Obama instead of McCain something like "Lift every voice and sing" in Denver happens. I've always voted Democrat but this time Obama supporters have just played to many 'hate' cards. The whole black vs. white thing needs to end and I will not vote for anyone with a racist attitude.

I have no idea who this singer is but she obviously is a citizen of the wrong country. I'd rather vote Republican then vote for 4-8 years of racist, anti-american hate. I'm also going to start looking into claiming citizenship in another country and leaving. They can lose my taxes.
