Bad Experience with TAO Auto

I took my car to TAO Auto for repairs, and had a bad experience.
Has anyone else had experience with having their car repaired at TAO AUTO?

What is a fair price markup?

TAO Auto cost for repair part:$110.55
TOYOTA Original Equipment Manufacturer Part Cost:$75.39

Tao Auto of Cary has always delivered great, quality service. They are honest about what is wrong and fix things for a fair price.
One time I went in because I had a problem with my emergency brake on my stick-shift honda. Some guys in Asheville said it'd be $300 to fix. When I brought it home, Tao Auto in Cary looked at it and fixed it for free. It wasn't a major issue at all, but they could have reamed me for a "repair." They didn't. That is what I heard about them through word of mouth, and it is true. They are good. I trust those guys.
Tao Auto of Cary gets 5 out of 5 stars!

Confidence men always act nice to people they are taking advantage of.
Everyday people are taken advantage of by people who act nice to them as they take advantage of them at the same time.
TAO Auto earned that unsatisfactory rating by the Better Business Bureau. That rating did not just happen on its own.

Sorry you had a bad experience. I can't speak to the BBB rating, but I have had 4 excellent experiences with TAO. I have a Toyota Sequioa and Honda Pilot. I traditionally had used dealers for service. Heard the owner of TAO on 680AM when I moved here 3 years ago and thought I would give them a try. Not only have they fixed the not so minor issues, but they also saved me money by not doing service that I felt certain was required, but in fact was not needed. Just today, they performed two services at no charge....repaired a nail in my tire and changed a directional signal bulb. Will, the Cary location manager will take time with you on the phone and lives up to his word. If I had to say something bad about them, it would be that the lobby smells like an ashtray. Since I have never spent more than 5 minutes in there, they can puff away all they want as long as they take great care of my cars.

I have been going to Tao since 1998. They have never been anything less than wonderful. I was sold after my first experience with them. My 91 Honda CRX as randomly cutting off quite frequently while driving...not good. I was prepared for them to tell me something terrible was wrong. I had a loose wire and they charged me $20 for labor. I have never looked back and have always been treated well and never once "taken for a ride"

tao has been an excellent company to deal with......except for that no working on saturday thing... :)

Last year Tao helped me get a refund from another "car repair" center. After a major repair, timing belts, etc. my car ran terrible. A friend recommended Tao - they knew eactly what was wrong, fixed and gave me a detail statement to help me get a refund for the prior service center. Wll go to TAO from now on.

I have been a TAO customer since 1992. They have maintained 2 vehicles (1991 Acura Integra/2003 Acura TL) well beyond 100K miles. They are great. They provide excellent service at very reasonable rates. I do much of the minor maintenance myself and depend on TAO for major service. I have never had anything less than positive results.

+1 for good experience with Tao of Cary.
You need to make an appointment for service, but the work has always been perfect and the prices much lower than the dealership prices.

We have not paid the BBB for many years and that is why we have a bad rating. If you pay them they "fix" the comments. It is the BBB you should be investigating.

I agree, over 1/2 a decade customer myself. My only complaints were how they only want to use Genuine Honda parts for major components whenever possible, and things like the Honda catalytic converter are extremely expensive.

Most everything else has been routine maintenance or relatively minor repairs, and many times small things like missing clips, or something came loose, they will fix for free. We have over 210,000 miles on one car, and 160,000 on the other both Hondas. And Tao has been the major source of repairs outside the warranty periods.

Now we only go to the Cary location, perhaps the other is not as good, I can't address other locations. In Cary they are friendly, and recognize and address us by name we've been going there so long, and have always stood by their work.

Its terrible, but I'm the type if you lie to me once, or even steer me wrong, you've lost my business for a LONG time, and they have managed to keep my business.

Oh I forgot, my Mom is also a fan of theirs. Her Toyota died (and coincidentally needed an oil change). She had it towed to Tao at my recommendation. They changed the oil, and called with the bad news her computer was dead, it was going to be hundreds for them to repair it or she could take it to a Toyota dealer and they "might" cover it under warranty, even though it was way outside the warranty period.

She said she wanted to try the dealer. So TAO helped arrange the towing, and sure enough Toyota covered the repair. A month or so later I noticed the Oil change sticker was Tao, and found out she had never gone in and paid, they only interacted on the phone. So when I went for an oil change myself, I asked, he pulled the invoice from the wall (one of a couple records on the wall). It was for just the oil change, no diagnostic charge, and I paid it. He didn't hound my Mom, nor bring it up to me, I had to ask him about it. He said he knew we would figure it out, and that helped cement how our family has a "relationship" with Tao. Like in the "Good ole days".
