Of course, this student is under the age of 21, so possession of the handgun is a federal offense. Illegally carrying a concealed weapon is a federal offense. Having a firearm on school grounds is a federal offense. All of these are punishable with hefty jail (or juvenile detention) time and fines. However, I'll just about bet that this kid is going to get in school suspension. That'll teach him to break the law.

Prosecute gun violations to the greatest extent the law allows and gun crimes will be reduced. Slap them on the wrist and they'll get used to it... with tragic results.

Why do we continue to let our youth do these things. Our police departments have to be sooooo politically correct these days it isn't worth their time to try and correct these problems. We as citizens need to step up and care for our youth. We need to take a stand against gang activity. If you don't think its around you.... you need to wake up! These troubled kids today NEED for us to step up and wake up! Whats it going to take for you to take a stand????? Your kid getting shot or killed? Support our local officers and not the politicians! Get our court systems back! Love your neighbor and community. Just do something! This kind of thing is getting out of hand!

There is too many of these situations happening. Parents are not doing their parental duties, "Let the teachers take care of the problems",this is the feeling too many pas and mas have. If the law in this country would act like the judiciary and not kindergarten we would be much better off in all areas.I hate to say it but i am anti back packs for this very reason, weapons and drugs.

Normal people can't do anything about it. There are too many lawyers just waiting to go after anyone that violates a precious child's civil rights.

Typical Parkland High School. The hoodlums get away with something over there every day. There is absolutely no excuse for this type of behavior. Wake up people, there is no place in any of our schools for these senseless acts. Read the police reports and I think you will be shocked. Not just Parkland but all the schools in Forsyth County are subjected to gangs, guns, misbehavior, violenc e. Shame on you school officials and courts for letting this continue!!

I agree..I was intrigued about the Unloaded Gun part..I didn't think that there was any difference. I was under the impression that having a GUN on School property was a Felony....

I disagree with you. Granted you make some very emotional knee-jerk statements that seem valid but it really isn't the government's responsibility, otherwise known as The Schools, to police family decisions regarding personal integrity.

Personally? I would love to read Resource Officer Reports presented for each infraction at every Forsyth high school. Please extend your self-righteous anger into a viable citizen's brigade that demands every school infraction be posted publicly.

Please post our source: "Read the police reports and I think you will be shocked."

This guy should be permanently expelled from school and charged with a felony. My nephew in Davidson County School, grade 11 was pushed, he fell against a coach in the lunchroom. He was kicked out of school but the football player that pushed him is still in school and playing ball.

I guess it's the way of the world.

Noo, you cant blame Parkland as a whole. Why say typical? I graduated from there in 2008 and most of us had our heads on straight, even the younger kids did. Maybe it all went downhill from there though after 2008. idk.But just because they found the gun on him people want to make a big deal. And I understand that because of the safety of the other students. But, he has probably brought that thing so many other times, there maybe is a deadly weapon in that school on a student daily for all we know.

This has happened so very much in almost every school system in this state.
These events were reported to the police but did not make it to the news.
The administrators know that by publicly reporting the event, they get copycats.
These schools need desperately to put some
"Rules that Work" in place.
"Standard Mode of Dress" would help so much.
Has anyone visited a school to see pants to the knees, underwear in view, shirts out, hats on head, cleavage all over the place, short short shorts etc?
No Electronic Devices in view..keep them in your backpacks, lockers, or pockets.
Stop coddling and make the students and their parents step up to the plate..'Accountability"
Do not put all of the poverty-stricken neighborhood children in same schools!
The students from these neighborhoods have as much ability to be successful as all the rest but are so distracted by the peer pressure, the gangs etc.
Arrest the parents that are obviously not taking care of their children!
Teach these young people to abstain!
Check the number of teen pregnancies..Some are 16 with 3 children already and who knows where dad is!
Do not blame WSFC schools for all of the breakdowns.
The school system can't be solely responsible for the communities that are allowing these children to obtain guns, have multiple pregnancies, stay up late, do zero homework,.....and all because it is "Cool".
Get Real People!

This looser has not learned anything in school. A waste of taxpayer funds. We will probably hear this name with the correction system.
