What is some of yalls favorite memorys of your childhood in C'ville. Mine are, riding the loope, going to Century , Sigma Sorority pledging during the summer and Sigma Dance at Christmas. Sledding on the levee when it snowed and Clark's drive in had car hops.

The Tillman’s tire swing when I was young (thanks Susan); childhood sweethearts (who will not be named here, although you may figure out who you are); teachers--Mrs. Hand, Mrs. Dunavant, Mrs. Hill, Mr. Neely Mitchell, Mr. J.Y. Miller, Mr. Mike McGraw and his wife, Mrs. Huibbard, Joe Parkinson, Mrs. Porter (H.S. Counselor) to name a few, White’s hole, Harold Bruce’s Big Star and crew; cruising the loop; Little League and my team’s trip to St. Louis to watch the Card’s and Mets play (thanks to Mr. Johnson); Friday night football (congratulations on your season Tigers, and thanks Keith C. for the play-by-plays you post on the “friends and grads’ list); the CHS marching band trip to New Orleans and that huge 1st Place troply (thanks Mr. Ford wherever you are); graduation and the trip to the lake that night with a couple of my best friends; Fourth of July fireworks off the barge; CHS initiation being thrown (quite far) over the wall by the “Wall Gang”. This is a condensed version of good memories of Caruthersville. Thanks for asking the question. I think of home often.

My memories are a few as follows: going to Nelson's candy store with my cousin, going to Dairy Queen, church with my grandmother, riding the loop with my grandfather, swimming at the Neptune, walking to the Yarn-It with my sister, walking from East 9th to 3rd (not past the river my grandfather would say), Thursday night when my grandfather would come home from court and just the wonderful friendly atmosphere that the city used to have. Thank You for taking such good care of me as a child and my family. I also remember my mother being homecoming queen at CHS

More fond memories are the always benevolent owners at Crow's Market, cold cut (sliced while you wait) sandwiches from Pruiett's? How about the toy section at the Ben Franklin?... Tiger Hut (is that still there)? Watching movies (without driving a half-hour or more) at the Gem. The Colson factory Christmas party at the Gem every year for the kids of its employees (complete with Santa, stockings and toys for us.)

Goodman's grocery, Knox's, Magic Mart, Grabers, Penneys, Sawyers Drug Store, Kaspers bakery, Modern Shoe, Mom having lunch every day for my sister and friends that worked at Brown Shoe, riding the ferry across the river to tan and play in the water, (OH MY GOD, I would have killed my kids if they had of done this). My goodness, I feel old. These places were so popular and most of us have forgotten them. Thanks for this post, brought back some wonderful memories and good times.

I remember going to Mrs. Tate's house for a swimming party in Kennett after school once. That was awesome that she would do that. She was a great teacher. I liked her spunk, anyone know how she is now????
