I can't get into this article. I have tried about 15 times and it always hangs up my computer before it gets to the article. Can someone tell me who was up for school board and who is running for school board in Steele?

I like the incumbents. I just clicked where it said examiner and it went straight through, but thanks to voter for listing names. Looks like lots of people on ballots this time for school boards....but no mayor candidates but Keith? guess that is decided. I will vote all three incumbents, I think they have been doing a pretty good job

Being on a school board is not for everyone. Very little, if any, thanks. Lots of lost sleep when it comes to making hard or even harsh decisions. Lost or at least estranged friends. I admire folks that are willing to serve (unless they have an agenda) that is motiving them. In that case they need to stay away.
For those that want to serve for the good of your school, good on you and good luck in the election.

Is there only one woman on the school board now? I think we need an equal number of men and women on the school board so we need two more women on there.

If they don't run there is nothing to do about it. If you are a woman, run.

I agree, but often times the Supt. leads board around by the nose! I wonder why North Pem Board race is so hot with 12 running?

I would like to know also, considering I will be voting it this election and haven't seen a candidate yet around my house. But my house is usually one of the last on candidates list. Who all is running, by the way? I know of two or three only from signs I've passed on the Ross overpass.

The election is on my 4 days off. I am voting for Renee Golden and only one vote! The school board continues to make stupid votes. They need a shakeup on that board. One board member has kids going to another district. Now how can a member make votes in a school that he doesn't believe in sending his kids to.
just wonderin

I'm voting for Renee Golden too. We have some on there that don't have children going there any longer and we need to make room for the ones that do have children attending SP.

It has been a long time since a female has been on the board. It would be a good thing since women tend to have more to do with their children's school life. Also, there needs to be a changing of the guard. The same people have been in office way too long with too many of the same results. So of the three up for re-election, are any of them leaving or is their position just up again.

BTW, I now know about Renee Golden running. I don't really know her. I know one of the Luye's is running. And I have seen posters for Rinehart, Conaway, and McGowan. Anybody know who else is running? Shoot, by election time next week, I might actually know who's running before I go to vote.

People should have to pass a test before running for a school board position. Most have no idea what their role is. South pemiscot has the most ignorant people on it. They say they work hard. 6 hour board meetings doesnt mean you work for students. That means your micromanaging you morons. Dumb ass farmers on there dont know shit. The one that lost was one of the best they had. Should have kicked off the other two. Especially the little one. He is such an idiot and wants to sit in the admin position so bad that he spends more time up at the school than he does his job! Young board members with young kids come in with ignorant extreme ideas they want for their own kids. School boards are a joke. Period! Its nothing more than a power trip. Tell me how a daycare worker, farmers, a state trooper, and pharmacist have any power or knowledge to oversee administration. Let the superintendent run things, sit your ass back, and approve recommendations on policies and personnel issues. Thats your job. Thats it. No matter who you talk to in the county, everybody knows south pem is a joke of a school.

South Pemiscot is the only school board that has 6 hr. meetings in 100 mile radius. Sometimes you just need see what other schools do at meetings then maybe you will understand why other schools meet for 2hrs.

If your having 6 hour meetings I wouldn't think that would be a positive thing. Sounds like a lot of arguing and disagreements.

I believe that they have to take a class after they are elected. I don't know how many hours it is but they are required to take a class after elected. I doubt there are any 6 hour meetings either. If there are they are few and far between.

Of course they are required to go.....duh! Its a training for new board members. However, some know its going to go in one ear and out the other and they hang onto that personal agenda The big guy is the dumbest. He looks retarted and like he belongs in special ed. Does he have something wrong?
