Border Mayor: Not One Dime of Taxpayer Money for Illegals

As President Obama continues to do nothing to stop the border crisis, many local communities are being forced to find ways to care for the thousands of illegals making their way into the country.
Much of the care illegals are receiving is being paid for with taxpayer dollars, eating away at communities that already suffer from limited resources because of Obama's other Failed Policies.
As a result, much of the work being done to provide food, shelter, and care for illegal immigrants is being shifted to private organizations that have graciously volunteered to use their financial resources and manpower to help with this humanitarian crisis.....
Unfortunately, these groups will eventually run out of funds, once again shifting the burden back to taxpayers. One Texas mayor has stated that he will not be diverting anymore of his cities public funds to provide aid for illegals pouring into the U.S.
Laredo Mayor Raul Salinas told the media that he refuses to raise taxes in the city to pay for illegals, stating that this is a problem that should be paid for by the federal government, not local cities.
via Info Wars:
The mayor of a Texas border town has announced his city will not be diverting public funds to further aid the illegal immigrant invasion, a problem which is straining the resources of other border towns.
Laredo, Texas, Mayor Raul Salinas says there is simply no feasible way for his town to cover the expenses associated with sheltering and providing for the immigrant influx passing right through his town.
Whats going to happen when the faith organizations run out of money? The burden will be on cities, Salinas said. The border city of McAllen, Texas, spent more than $70,000 in June providing for immigrants.
Short of raising taxes on his towns residents, which he states he is not willing to do, Mayor Salinas says he will not dig into the citys coffers for a problem needing to be addressed at the federal level.
Were strapped. We cannot put the local taxpayers in strain, Salinas said. Were not going to raise taxes. If we use some tax money, and were tight for money now, are we going to get reimbursed? Thats the challenge that we face, Salinas said...
Mayor Salinas is right. Its the federal governments responsibility to secure the border and provide the funds necessary to care for, and then deport, the illegals currently staying in the country, not local cities and communities.
Rather than taking more taxes to help pay for this care, members of Congress should have to fund the budget out of their own paychecks. Perhaps this would provide sufficient motivation in the future to ensure another situation like this doesnt occur.
