<quoted text>Hey Phil was it you or your brother that checked how much gas was in the golf cart by lighting a lighter to see?
I would really like to take the easy road and blame that on my brother but it happened to me. Drew Jones was with me that day and I ended up seeing him a few years ago when he took a job in Cape. That was the first thing he brought up. The funny thing about that is my dad demanded that I never use that golf cart but I did anyway for two years prior. That very day was the first day that he gave me permission. I left my mark on the fifth hole for well over a year. What had happened is the gas line came apart and leaked onto the exhaust. by time I found out, it was ignited and there wasn't anything I could do about it. When it blew, it looked like a mini atomic bomb. By they way, who is this with such a good memory?

My name is right there. We were in scouts together and my little sister was your age I believe.

Hi Robin! of course I remember you. How are you? You need to kick my butt also because you should have been on my list. Be easy on Jimmie because he was helping me get started remembering names and probably didn't want to type every name in the class.

<quoted text>Wow! I didn't do too bad. I'm Phil Penzel. I moved north to Jackson in 1976 (just northwest of Cape) because that is were my family's construction company was located. We lived in C'ville while my dad built the Missouri approach to the river bridge and the I-155 highway up to the bridge. I went to Southside in first grade, moved away for a year and a half and then moved back to C'ville during the middle of the 3rd grade and stayed until the middle of the 8th. I lived for a few years south of Brian Dodd which was Scott Waddell's old house. It was the other side of the Neptune pool. That's how I remember them. David Thompson lived down the street. I also lived at C'ville for a summer during the middle '80's. I think 1985.
Jimmy, I'm sorry but I am having trouble picturing you at the moment. I hear the memory gets worse as you get older. I actually was invited to a couple of your class reunions and showed up at the 10 year in 1991 during the day portion in the park. I remember that because my daughter was 1. I was going to try to come to another but they didn't give the dates and the times on the invitation and I didn't know who to contact to find out.
Congratulations Phillip. You know, as kid living in Caruthersville, I remember you never really got a fair break with the children your age who were the kids of Caruthersville's "old guard.". There was a "network" of sorts there and if you were not born into one of the old established Caruthersville families or simply had not been raised from infancy and up in Caruthersville, the other kids seemed to view you as an outsider of sorts. Phillip, I checked out your family business website. I am very impressed, you have done well and certainly so in spite of Caruthersville. There are so many in Caruthersville who snubbed you because you were an "outsider." And, even though I, myslef, was an "outsider," I snubbed you also. I apologize Phillip, I sincerely do. Equally, I take a sense of pride and satisfaction in knowing that you have become quite successful in your family business. That satisfaction comes in knowing that there are many Caruthersville "old guard" kids who snubbed you when you lived there but would truly envy your success and accomplisments today. Oh, and if it is any consolation, that party date with Ann Morris that never happened even though you asked David Thompson to ask her for you,...my, my, mighten she now regret her decision so many years ago. Very Good Phillip, very good! By the way, if you ever have a chance, "google" your name, the name Ann and David Thompson together and see if you don't stumble on to something that will make you laugh. Many of you might not know this but I came down in the middle '90's and built Casio Aztar. Go to our website www.penzel.com and hit the Commercial tab in the middle and then scroll all the way to the bottom. It was one of my personal projects. If I got the chance to rebuild the High School, that would be great.

Unless I blocked a lot out of my memory, I don't remember being shunned. I actually had good memories. You have to remember that the age that I was in C'ville was the prime of my social life for me because when I moved to Jackson, I had to start all over and it is hard to do at a pre-high school age. I could kick my own butt for not doing a better job keeping up with people at C'ville.
By the way, I tried to do what you said and didn't get the results I expected. Can you help me out on that google site? Also, what is your name? If you don't want to give that on here you can get my email address off of my website and go that route. If you don't get on the website today its because we just got another ice storm and the power is off on our server. So try again later.

Congrats Phil, you have done very well! I think it would be great if your company rebuilt the High School.
