'Tax Increases Will Not Solve Our $16 Trillion Debt'

In this week's Republican address, Florida senator Marco Rubio suggests there are much bigger problems than marginal tax hikes, which President Obama strongly supports.

"Americans are struggling to find or keep middle class jobs for two reasons: because our economy is not creating enough of these jobs and because too many of our people don't have the education or skills required for the jobs that are being created," says Rubio. "A limited government can and must help solve these challenges.

"We must get the national debt under control. Tax increases will not solve our $16 trillion debt. Only economic growth and a reform of entitlement programs will help control the debt.

"We must reform our complicated, uncertain, job-killing tax code, by getting rid of unjustified loopholes. But our goal should be to generate new revenue by creating new taxpayers, not new taxes.
"We must follow a balanced approach to regulations. Regulations are needed, but they cost money to follow. The more expensive a regulation is, the less money a business has leftover to give raises or hire new people.

"We must not let American innovation in our energy industry go to waste. We have the potential for all kinds of new middle class jobs--from the fields and platforms where we drill, to the manufacturing plants that will return to the U.S. with the lower cost of energy. But we need government to encourage these job opportunities, not continue to block them.

"A return to sound monetary policy would also help by making the future value of a dollar more predictable.

"And we must get the cost of health insurance under control. You should be able to get a health care plan that fits your needs and your budget, from any company in America that's willing to sell it to you, and with the same tax benefit if you buy it yourself or have an employer buy it for you

Middle class are struggling because the time has come for the middle class to actually wake up and go to a actual job and not one with a title of assistant to the assistant to the assistants assistant. Back in the hey days of Clintons terms, we were a power house of economy, a surplus of goods, housing was booming, and I do remember gas prices of .69 per gallon there for a few weeks. We grown to accustom the lifestyle then but when Bush won over Gore in 2000 it all went to crap. I am not blaming Bush alone for the problems we are having today but I am saying is that Bush was to blame for a majority of them. Two wars, lied on TV to all of us, protected the wealthy in America and the "Great Recession" of all recessions fell under his watch whether you agree or not. Who controls congress at that time had nothing to do with what all snowballed
in the previous years. I think most in here believe what they want to believe and when someone else believes different, then it offends them. That there shows how weak and insecure people are in America today. Its all about "me" and "I could care less about you". I read where someone posted they wanted to "tax" just one political party. That had to be the most ignorant statement ever made in Topix.

Until those that are in denial learn to pull themselves up by their boot straps and realize we all have to work together to rebuild what our govt tore down, nothing will change or it will be years upon years before prosperity comes around again so we can live once again in the "hey day" of milk and honey.

I dont blame congress, I blame you who put them in there. I dont vote, and dont tell me I cant gripe because I can, I PAY TAXES! Dont tell me I cant gripe when it was YOU who voted those idiots in office, not me. So its your fault, not mine.

we are all on a planet circling our sun at about 60,000 miles an hour while spinning on our axis at about 1,000 miles per hour so any feeling of motionlessness and permanence is an illusion.

Why I am even responding to a person like you who feeds off of attention, I really dont know why. You live your life of lies and hatred and while peddling backwards the rest of the country will progress and move forward. Sit there at your desk or wherever you feel at ease to lie like the devil, and preach those scriptures from the King James Version till your neck turns blue. The sad thing is, I think we all know just what a fake and immature internet punk you really are. You're good for jokes. Thats about it.
