excellent point
Socialism works on paper well but most countries that have a socialist form of government are operating on approximately a 70% tax base which simply put means for every dollar you earn, you get to keep a whopping 30 cents. I don't mind helping the poor but this share the wealth idea sucks big time.

What is your problem? You really have issues you know? How 'bout you ignore my threads and posts and stop commenting to me? Will that make you feel better? I really don't know any more that I can do for you. I'm not a doctor.

I apologize for being harsh. I just thought it was a funny cartoon that contained an accurate description of socialism. And yeah, it is a little fun to needle liberals. ;-)

As far as the theology threads, that's what they are there for, to cause us to think, even disagree. Even the posts I disagree with make me think for the most part.

Carlton, think of me rude, whatever, but what education/experience do you have to back up all the subjects you have posted about? I know education isn't everything but it keeps one abreast of current areas. Also, communism and socialism do look good on paper, kind of like democracy, in every culture the rich and powerful rule, no one gives anything about the poor or working class. That's just my view.

I will answer your question but first answer this, John's baptism, was it of God or man?/snicker
sick and tired wrote:

No it doesn't. Watching the news keeps one abreast of current events. "Areas"?? "Education" is supposed to "educate" but more often than not, it just "socializes".

Socialism is a refuge for scoundrels. It keeps the career politicans who are too lazy to work for a living in office. But that's just my not so humble opinion.

John's baptism was by Jesus, who was God in the flesh. In your definition of socialism what's the difference than what the U.S is going through now? As for your "not so humble opinion" James 4:10,"Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up." Opinions get us in trouble, kind of like assuming, we all know what that does. You must like debates Carlton, or you may call it, discussions.

I was only joking.

Pretty much. We're on the same path as Europe. It looks good when you consider all of the "freebies" but as Reagan said, "As government grows, liberty contracts".

Hey, buddy, I'm the MOST humble fellow you'll ever meet. I should be given an award for humility and I would wear it with pride!

No. I just like being right!

Seriously, I was just ribbing you. I did think that your asking for credentials was rather elitist, thus the reason for my question.

Matt 21:23-27

23 Jesus entered the temple courts, and, while he was teaching, the chief priests and the elders of the people came to him. "By what authority are you doing these things?" they asked. "And who gave you this authority?"

24 Jesus replied, "I will also ask you one question. If you answer me, I will tell you by what authority I am doing these things. 25 John's baptism-where did it come from? Was it from heaven, or from men?"

They discussed it among themselves and said, "If we say,'From heaven,' he will ask,'Then why didn't you believe him?' 26 But if we say,'From men'-we are afraid of the people, for they all hold that John was a prophet."

27 So they answered Jesus, "We don't know."

Then he said, "Neither will I tell you by what authority I am doing these things.

It appears Jesus didn't have his Master's of Divinity or a PhD.

I'm not asking Jesus am I? And what human should dare compare themselves to Jesus, he didn't have to have one, he knew everything, omnipresent, omniscent and all. I was just asking a presumably(yes i know what that gets me), harmless question forgive my inquiry. I just have measley 2 years in college. Fixing to get my bachelors. But that's just me.

You know, even I know better than to joke with that one...

Okay, but what about the apostles? Except for Paul, they were all pretty unlearned.

Acts 4:13
After they found out that Peter and John had no education or special training, they were surprised to see how boldly they spoke. They realized that these men had been with Jesus.

Well consider yourself schooled. LOL. I interpreted what you wrote as trying to shut down debate. If I had been discussing how to build an atomic weapon, you might have had a valid point... although I did stay in a Holiday Express last night.

Even if I had a PhD, I wouldn't mention it on here. It really turns me off to see people hide behind the letters after their names.

Good for you. Seriously. I hope you go far. Regardless, your degree or lack of one would not cause me to give greater or lesser creedence to your opinions.

“For since in the wisdom of God the world through its wisdom did not know him, God was pleased through the foolishness of what was preached to save those who believe. 22 Jews demand miraculous signs and Greeks look for wisdom, 23 but we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, 24 but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God. 25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than man’s wisdom, and the weakness of God is stronger than man’s strength. 26 Brothers, think of what you were when you were called. Not many of you were wise by human standards; not many were influential; not many were of noble birth. 27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise; God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong. 28 He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things–and the things that are not–to nullify the things that are, 29 so that no one may boast before him. 30 It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God–that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption. 31 Therefore, as it is written:“Let him who boasts boast in the Lord.” 1 Corinthians 21-31

We may not be the world's choice, but we are God's choice. I find that exhilarating.

If you like a bounch of politicians to have special rights to distribute your money, then support socialism.

IF you like more money being spent on wars, and going to save banks then support socialism-. Socialism will ensure a bigger tax flow from private hands into the hands of the monopoly that the autorities have.

But - If you want to help the poor, go out the streets give some money to the poor, anyone can do that.
