once again, you fail to read and comprehend. please excuse yourself from this site. good day sir or ma'am.
What an idiot you are! Didn't you notice that this person left before you told them too, said you were a waste of their time, and now we can see you are. Maybe it is you who needs to learn how to understand what you read?

Wal-mart owns Sam's Club. Wal-mart (the corporation) doesn't own Lowe's. The walton family owns a large amount of Lowe's stock.
What's the difference?

Saying that Wal-Mart doesn't own Lowes, the Walton family just owns a large amount of stock in Lowes,is like saying Bill Gates doesn't own Microsoft,he just owns majority stock in the company.Give me a break.

believe it or not forrest, most of the walton family doesn't run wal-mart. I'm sure they own stock in many companies. Lowe's is a competitor of wal-mart.

How can they be competitors when they don't even sell the same types of items? And i don't care whether or not the Walton family runs Wal-Mart,they still own it.And spell my name right. It's Forest with one 'r'.

Let's start with the most important thing. I can spell your name however the hell I want. Can you provide some proof that the Waltons own wal-mart? No you can't. They don't. Shutup. Have you ever been in a Lowe's?They sell tools, they sell lawn and garden merchandise, they sell plants and flowers, they sell plumbing supplies, they sell fans and heaters. Do I need to go on? They sell similiar items.

I'm not a know it all. It's funny that I had to make the same reply once before. It was in response to JUstme. You're also the same person that keeps putting emphasis on man/woman. You are JustMe...and your ISP is located in Saint Louis. Good day.

Look f**kstick, the Waltons started WalMart. That tells me that if they were wise(which I believe they were)they didn't let all the majority stock go to someone outside the family. And just because I can't offer definite proof that they own the Co. I'll bet you can't offer proof that they don't.BTW I heard in a business report that one of Sam Waltons grand daughters was in an executive position in the company.

You talk tough on a message board don't you. "I'm still running" is a good motto for you. Punk ass little bitch. You can google search Lowe's all day and you'll find out that they don't own lowes. What the hell does Sam Walton's granddaughters have to do with anything? I'm going to let this damn message board die. It's a year old anyway. Who really gives a rat's ass who owns them anyway? Hey forest! take your ass back to the boat and catch me some shrimp!

By my calculations, based on what public information I could find, approximately 1.72 billion shares of WMT are owned between Sam Walton's living heirs, decedent heirs' estates and Walton Enterprises, LLC (the bulk of ownership with 1.68 billion shares). The next highest stock ownership is by Barclays Global Investors UK Holdings Ltd., which owns only approximately 105 million shares.

where did you get this info?

that's shares of WMT. Of course the walton's own wal-mart stock. Technically though the Waltons don't even own wal-mart. They own 39% of it. That means all most two thirds of wal-mart is owned by others. I own wal-mart stock. I guess that means I'm a wal-mart owner. I'm buying some Lowe's stock tomorrow. Then maybe Forest can once and for all prove that a wal-mart owner owns Lowes.

Why don't you get a life and realize that you are wrong! I am not justme! Do you even have a clue about the fact that more people post on here out of St Louis beside justme and myself? You must really have a dull boring life if one person can get you so upset over something. Has it ever dawned on you that I go back and read post before I ever comment on them? DUH dumba**! I feel very sorry for your mate having to deal with you. I would kick you to the curb and get someone with a "real" brain. Heck, even the scarecrow from Wizard of Oz would be better than you, at least he got a brain at some point in his existence.

It's a compilation of information I retrieved from ten or so web sites, and you are about dead-on with the 39 percent figure. The highest percentage I found estimated 43 percent. Short of some hostile take over, one would think 39% ownership in one family is controlling interest.

wouldn't that be a hoot if every other stock holder voted together to sell wal-mart?
