Just wondering what everyone thinks on this. A lot of jobs require a drug test. Teachers do not require one.

yes, i for one think teachers should have random drug tests done, i do know that a teacher at the elementary school had a drug addtiction, she also had diabetes and instead of checking her blood sugar and getting her insulin while studetns were out of the class, she was getting high.. was told to get help, did get it, didnt do any good, they gave her another chance at teaching, didnt work out,she finally quit..thankfully. so now...watch someone from the school say this isnt true..you can believe it..it is !! at least now she isnt teaching our kids, but i did hear she is teaching pre-schoolers in Blytheville, not sure though

I think any teaching staff should be tested and a background check done on them. With todays crazy society you never can be to carefull. And instead of testing once when they are hired they should be tested yearly and have random drug test done furing the school year. But I bet the education unions would not go foy it. It should be done for the safty of the children.

I think McDonald's employees should be tested. I got a Quarter Pounder the other day and it had onions on it. I ordered it it with NO ONIONS! Must have been high when they fixed it!

McDonald's employee's don't teach our kids. Come on I know there are some teachers out there reading this. Would you volunteer for a drug check?

I'll take one. I had to take one when I got a job with Shelby Co. Schools. They give one at the time of employment, but not every year after that.
Frankly i don't understand why it isn't a given for teachers, judges, police...maybe it is in some areas. What would the penalty be, in your estimation, for someone who fails?

The NTA and NEA would NEVER allow the teachers to be drug tested. However, I believe it should be mandatory. I also believe that 99.9% of all teachers are doing the best they can under the guidelines they're given. It's not our teachers who have a problem (well, maybe some of them), it's our education policies and Politicians.

NO, she isn't teaching in blytheville, she just told that so her family would believe her. Part of the whole drug addict game they play with their family. Next thing you know, she's told everyone that she's teaching again, it just isn't true though, and thankfully.

The teachers SHOULD be drug tested though. There are a couple that I know of that like to smoke a little weed and take a few xanex's (spelling??), no big deal ya know. But I am afraid there may be a couple who are on serious stuff.

This is my first time on this site. I do agree to the drug testing of teachers. I have several family members that work in the county schools doing other jobs besides teaching and they have to be drug tested. Why should a maintenance person or a custodian be tested??? Teachers should be included....

I think they should. They are teaching our kids...do you want someone who is high most of the time responsible for your child? You have to send your kids to school, you should know that they are safe while they are there. I don't see what makes people think that teachers aren't doing drugs. Not all teachers are but you don't know for sure which ones are doing drugs.

we had a art teacher way back in the late 70's and early 80's that was stoned all the time at good ole chs, as a matter of fact, we use to go to his house to get hi with him. What was his name? his wife was weird, and i think she taught at the southside or west side school. They were a trip

If I were a teacher and having to put up with 25 of my 15 year old daughters-I'd probably be using drugs or considering suicide.

Yes, he was the same person that complained about the hiring at the rec center. He gets a little excited at times and uses some foul language and mispells a word here and there, but you surely understood what he meant. The teachers should be drug tested with background checks done at least annually. If they have been asked to resign or have been fired from other positions due to indiscretions then they should not be allowed to instruct our children either. These kids learn more about infidelity and homosexuality in the schools than on HBO. I am all for drug testing and the teachers should be too. Unless they have something to hide!
