Romney A "Chicken Hawk" That Wouldnt Fight For His Country

Romney suggested on “60 Minutes” recently that President Obama, who ordered the killing of Osama Bin Laden, was weak on foreign policy. He criticizes Obama for announcing a withdrawal date from Afghanistan after 11 years of war started by George W. Bush and over 2,000 American troops killed.

During Wednesday’s presidential debate, Romney will attack Obama on Iran and his handling of the killing of Ambassador Chris Stevens and three other Americans in Benghazi, Libya. All of which is saber-rattling nonsense.

Obama has replied,“If Gov. Romney is suggesting we should start another war, he should say so.”

One thing is for sure: If Romney does get elected and does start another war, no one in his family will fight in it. Neither his father nor Mitt Romney himself nor any of his five sons ever served in the military.

“One of the ways my sons serve our country is helping me get elected,” Romney has said. Heroic.

Romney was military age during the Vietnam War, which he fervently supported in pro-war demonstrations on campus at Stanford University. But instead of running to the nearest recruitment station to volunteer, Willard Mitt Romney avoided the draft by taking three deferments to serve as a missionary in Paris for 31 months.

“It was not my desire to go off and serve in Vietnam,” Romney told the Boston Herald in 1994.

On Wednesday night, two Vietnam vets from Brooklyn will be watching the debate.

“Romney likes to talk tough on the campaign trail,” says George Ryan of Windsor Terrace.“But I sure didn’t run into him on the Ho Chi Minh trail. While I was fighting with the G-Battalion of the 65th Infantry in places like Khe San and Con Thien and Hue during the Tet Offensive, Romney was in Paris eating croissants.”

“Funny how guys like Romney like to act tough with other people’s sons,” he added.

Kevin Burns, a native of Park Slope, was drafted in 1969 and sent to Vietnam, even though he was legally blind in his right eye.

“My drill sergeant rigged an M-16 and told me to shoot left-handed or I’d go through boot camp again. But I didn’t have a left-handed M-16 in the bush in ’Nam, where I almost killed a fellow G.I. who came up on my blind side. When I first came home from ’Nam, I was homeless on the streets. So I guess I’m one of Romney’s 47% he considers handout artists.”

Burns clawed his way out of homelessness through the G.I. Bill and became a successful real estate agent. He lost his sister, Margaret Connor, who worked for Cantor Fitzgerald, at the World Trade Center on 9/11.

He cheered Obama for ordering the Bin Laden raid and for ending the Iraq war, and wishes he’d withdraw from Afghanistan tomorrow.

Burns says of Romney,“He’s asking for $2 trillion more in the military budget for wars he intends to start in Iran and Syria, sending more 47-percenters like me and the guys I see in wheelchairs in the veterans hospital every week.... And he wants to be commander in chief? What a sick joke.”

Do or die SEMPER FI!

I think it should be mandatory that all US Presidential hopefuls must serve in the US military.

Mitt took off to France and rode a bicycle while men in this country died in Nam. He father and grandfather never served in war.

He will send your children to war cause they should be the ones to die not the 1 percent he's from.

President Barack Obama, along with many Democrats, likes to say that, while they may disagree with the GOP on many issues related to national security, they absolutely share their admiration and dedication to members of our armed forces. Obama, in particular, enjoys being seen visiting troops and having photos taken with members of our military. So, why is his campaign and the Democrat party suing to restrict their ability to vote in the upcoming election?

On July 17th, the Obama for America Campaign, the Democratic National Committee, and the Ohio Democratic Party filed suit in OH to strike down part of that state's law governing voting by members of the military. Their suit said that part of the law is "arbitrary" with "no discernible rational basis."

Currently, Ohio allows the public to vote early in-person up until the Friday before the election. Members of the military are given three extra days to do so. While the Democrats may see this as "arbitrary" and having "no discernible rational basis," I think it is entirely reasonable given the demands on servicemen and women's time and their obligations to their sworn duty.

The National Defense Committee reports:

[f]or each of the last three years, the Department of Defense’s Federal Voting Assistance Program has reported to the President and the Congress that the number one reason for military voter disenfranchisement is inadequate time to successfully vote.

I think it's unconscionable that we as a nation wouldn't make it as easy as possible for members of the military to vote. They arguably have more right to vote than the rest of us, since it is their service and sacrifice that ensures we have the right to vote in the first place.

If anyone proposes legislation to combat voter fraud, Democrats will loudly scream that the proposal could "disenfranchise" some voter, somewhere. We must ensure, they argue, that voting is easy and accessible to every single voter. Every voter, that is, except the men and women of our military.

Make no mistake, the Democrat lawsuit is intended to disenfranchise some unknown number of military voters. The judge should reject it with prejudice

THAT"S A LIE !!!

The Gop in OHIO wanted all extra days for voting cut back 2 three days.

There was no way in HE!! the military would have been able to vote.

They also wanted everyone to have a certain photo id 2 vote.

The Gop DID NOT WANT the military 2 use their MILITARY PHOTO ID.

The deomcrats fought back so our MILITARY COULD VOTE!!

The democrats won the long battle here in OHIO for our military and others 2 vote.

So U can thank the democrats for fighting 4 our MILITARY right 2 vote.

Today is the first day in OHIO for voting.

President Obama never served and refuses to listen to the advice of the Joint Chiefs and senior commanders on the ground. Instead he would rather use the military to appease the left and keep their votes. Also please remember President Obama is the one who got us involved in the no-fly zone and other things. Also let's remember he is allowing the cutting of $1 trillion dollars from the defense budget.

Well,

Let me start by saying that your arguments might be more credible if you used real English instead of Chat speak.

Let me also be the one to inform that you are wrong. It is Dems who filed suit to eliminate the 3 day period of early voting

By the way, whatever happened to Obama's jobs council? I looked it up. The last meeting of the jobs council was in January. Remember all those study groups the first year of Obama's regime? They'd meet in the White House, and the media, the Drive-Bys would take their cameras in there, they got all excited, and their tongues are hitting the floor (panting) everybody panting away, Obama's having work groups. Yeah

Then why are so many military people overseas not getting to vote absentee? Obama knows they will not vote for him. What about Lockheed? The law says they have to give their employees a certain amount of time before getting pink slips, Obama stepped over that law told them to wait until after the elections. The man in my opinion knows he's done nothing and hes running scared!!!! He has to do what he can to get votes. If he could he would pay people to go vote for him. Hes scared that is all there is to it, he knows he can't run on his record.

Have you served your country? Probably not, but you seem to blame it all on Obama when thats wrong. It wasnt Obama who sent troops to Iraq. It wasnt Obama who sent troops to Afghanistan. It was Obama who gave the order to carry out the mission that brought down the most terrifying terrorist on the planet.

Until you have served your country and fought for it you know nothing! Ive killed hundreds of fathers brothers, nephews, uncles, cousins, and so on. Ive seen their bodies ripped apart and their brains explode. Ive fought in the bush where the heat wold make pussies like you pass out. Keep blaming it on Obama pussfuck. Thats all you got.

Jarhead,

I have no idea why you have to be so insulting in your comments but you certain have the mouth of a drunken sailor, opps sorry the mouth of a seagoing bellhop.

I went into the Army in 1973 and took my basic training at Fort Dix, NJ where I was in Alpha/3/2. I left there and went the ASA School Brigade at Fort Devens Mass where I had the honor of taking my training with members of all services, including the USMC and might I say that those men and women were far more intelligent and courteous than you are. I left there and went to Germany for five years. I came back and was assigned the CONUS MI Group at Fort Meade Maryland for five years and worked in a supporting roll with the NSA. When I left there I was sent to Frankfurt Germany where I stayed for three years. I ETS'ed after that assignment when I was an E-6 on the E-7 list

That is all I am allowed to mention about my career and assignments under a nondisclosure agreement I signed.

So where did you serve and with what units.
