I find this interesting since Jim DeReign has not done any court appointments since the Public Defenders office came in-at least 10 +years. I seriously doubt he said,"It won't affect you anyways."

Jim Dereign is a joke, I was assigned him as a public defender a while back. Instead of doing his job and trying to get minor charges off of me, which was entirely possible, he simply told me to plead guilty, "It won't affect you anyways" he said. Now it's on my record and prevents me from having "good" jobs.

My vote is yes. He's the best around I love Byron Lubber, he was a great Judge while I was going to court, he talked to Me as a person not a case number. He is a very sweet man. He loves his job. Yes people make (mistakes) an do did he by sending a person where they didn't want to go but in the end of the story it wasn't a mistake after all. His health is decreased. So out with the old an ready for the new. We need Daniel. I believe he will change caruthersville for the GOOD. VOTE DANIRL. HE IS HONEST MAN AND A CHRISTIAN. OUR TOEN NEEDS GOD.

I will be voting for Daniel for one sole reason. Carter is boasting about his conviction rate as prosecuting attorney. The question is, HOW MANY WENT TO JAIL for the crimes they committed?

There have been too many "slap on the wrists" by Carter and if elected, it will only spill over to that position. Too many deals have been made to criminals that should have served time for their crime.

I want a judge that will drop the hammer on criminals for the crimes they commit. Not one that is afraid to drop the gavel on the crime.

I am voting for Daniel

If you're going to make accusations or speculations, you might learn to use Google first. Below you will find, in fact, actual statistics on incarceration rates for the entire state of Missouri. As you will note, Pemiscot is #2 for the state. The job of an Associate Judge is not to sentence felony cases, they deal primarily in civil cases. Again, a little research goes a long way. Billy has always been fair and cares deeply about the people of his community. I hate to see his name drug through the mud. He's got my vote all the way!

Like I said.

Conviction yes, BUT HOW MANY WENT TO PRISON? About 90% of them got slapped on the wrist and the county residents know this. There is no accusations there is cold hard facts and the fact is Carter has been soft on convictions. I am not dragging anyones name through the mud when I am stating the obvious facts.

Those are the obvious facts. Those are incarceration rates by sentencing counties. And, as I mentioned before, Pemiscot is #2. I'm not sure how you are confusing conviction and incarceration. Incarceration means that they went to prison. That's a slap on the wrist I wouldn't ever care to take.

lol a lot of the incarceration rates come from city courts, most of the big cases here have gotten suspended imposition of sentence. you are skewing numbers. Our jail also houses city prisoners....incarceration means they were in our jail....lol another lie. What about the child abuser who just got off on child endangerment misdemeanor and the child rapist who got plea deal and probation. What about the county employees who stole and got suspended impositions so they wouldn't have felonies...how many copper thiefs are in jail....and the list goes on and on

our deputies and cops are making good cases and he is pleading them out to nothing

This report is from the Missouri Department of Corrections. City cases don't get sent to DOC. Geez, people. A little research goes a long way.

I have nothing against Mr. Carter, but I do know and have heard he will do anything to have to not go to trial. He will plea bargain and these criminals are just getting probation which pretty much means nothing. I agree with "expect it" on all the cases above that have led to pretty much a slap on the wrist. You can pretty much do anything around here and not get sentenced, that's what's wrong with the system, and oh, what about the State Employee who had sex with a disabled client, more than once, that case is going on 2 years almost, it's ridiculous, and don't tell me he didn't do it, because he confessed to everything and was given every chance in the book to get a lawyer, I know he is telling his wife, family and Church it isn't true but the proof is in his confession, so what is taking so long on that case? No, I didn't see the tape but I personally know someone who did, and he spilled his guts, come on now, this is a very serious case with many charges and he is free and buying new things and acting like he is so innocent, Mr. Carter will probably try to just plea bargain on that one, too...I'm voting for Daniel!

Daniel is an attorney who works for these same people you speak of. It is an attorney's job to get their clients a lesser sentence or probation instead of incarceration. So, while you're bashing our prosecutor, you might investigate what attorneys duties are for those who pay them.

I meant criminals in general, thank you! Not these specific ones that you outlined, just persons who have committed crimes.

@Carter's Got My Vote, you cant hide from the truth that Carter has been soft on conviction and way too many plea bargain deals. The people want criminals put away from society to feel "safe", not to see them walked on a leash.

Its a little too late for excuses because the people of the county are tired of plea bargains.

You have your opinion, I have mine, as do the rest of the voter's in this county. Billy has a vast support group as can clearly be seen with one trip through the county. A pissing contest isn't on my agenda today, so I'll let statistics stand for themselves. Notice, I never had to say one harsh word about his rival to make my point. Unfortunately, when there are no facts or numbers to support your argument, people resort to ignorance. Have a great day! And, don't forget to vote!!

Are you referring to all the signs put out on vacant lots and residents property without permission? My mother had one put in her yard without permission; sorry to say but it's now in the trash. Mr. Carter whether he is good or not will not get our vote due to the disrespect.

I don't think he has to put his signs anywhere without permission. I've known that kid his whole life and he's never disrespected anyone. Don't mind the backlash, Billy. You've got our vote.
