The US is under seige by a group of gun crazy nuts!

What has happened to plain old common-sense? Why is it legal (in this country) to have access to assault weapons that were designed for only one purpose MASS MURDER?

Tell me when was the last time you went hunting with an assault weapon? Have you ever had the need to use a weapon that will fire up to 70-100 rounds of bullets in rapid succession while squirrel, pheasant, deer, or elk hunting?

The kind of arsonal that has been used in the MANY MASS MURDERS in the US over the last few years truly belong to the solders in the military and CERTAINLY NOT TO CIVILIANS!!!

Here are a few interesting facts:

The US has about 5% of population of the world but has 50% of all the guns in the world.

In the US there are more than 11,000 homicide deaths per 100,000 population as compared to around 100 in other countries like the UK, Japan, Australia & Canada.

That means that homicides are almost 1000 times more in the US.

The corralation of a larger number of guns with big numbers of homicides & accidents is so obvious.

One reason give for such incidents is that it is the work of psychopaths of mentally ill people.

However, the US does not have any disporportionately higher number of such people than the rest of the world.

WAKE UP & OPEN YOUR EYES & YOUR HEART - IT'S TIME TO PASS SOME SERIOUS GUN CONTROL LEGISLATION!!!

guns to a lot of us is a hobby its like collecting old cars or trucks .it doesnt matter what type of gun it is we just like them .i hunted to as a child we didnt use dogs to rabbit hunt that was the lazy way.its our given right to own as many guns as we want as bad a gun as we want. the reason we have more guns than any other country on the planet is the same reason we have stupid military bases everywhere ,we are paranoid.

Guest, you are correct. Law abiding citizens do not have an issue with alot of this. However, this regime has focused on everything that will hurt the law abiding citizen and to "trust" them with just these changes would be foolish. The proof is in the pudding. What they say and what they do are two different things. Its obvious that 50% of the people do not like this adminitration. They find the dems more radical and antiamerican than ever before. Jobs have found no place in their rhetoric nor the economy. But they want to levy even more taxes on the working class (not just the rich). People need to wake up. They fugde the numbers to make the oblivous think things are getting better. So is all of this just more "smoke and mirrors?

You need to get your interesting facts correct. That 11,000 figure you came up with, would be 11,000 per 300,000,000, plus not 11,000 per 100,000. And think about this if some nut job is going to kill
a large number of people, he will just fill his pockets with 10 or 15 5 shot clips. I can change out a clip in 1 or 2 seconds with my

"ickley",
I beg to defer with you on several issues!

First of all, the people of America overwhelming showed their approval of the Obama administration by electing him president & putting more Democrats in both the house & senate on Nov 6. And today - Obama's approval rating is at 52%!

As far as gun control, Americans by a majority of 60-80%(both Democrats & Republicans) agree we must clamp down on gun control.

Do you not know taxes are lower in this country now that they have been in decades? Yes, we need the rich to pay their fair share of taxes - because we still are in debt for the two wars that George Bushs put of a credit card.

The failures of the Bush administration is what got this country into this mess (which will take decades to climb out of). However, Obama has been able to make remarkable strides in cleaning up some of the Bush mess (without the help of Republicans).

Our economy is begining to slowly stabilize, manufacturing is making a big come-back, the stock market is up and things are on an upward trend - all thanks to the Obama administration!!!

Did you know George Bush is the only president that gave huge tax cuts and then started two wars. No president in history has ever done this. Every president in history has had to raise taxes when we went to war (to pay for the war).

It would seem Bush set out to intentionally sagatoge the financial integrity of this country.

Maybe it seems that over 50% of the people are against the Obama administration. Yes, this is what you will find in the southern states (where racism is alive & well), but thank God, this is not the case across the entire country.

Common Sence,
Many of the 26 children/adults who where were gunned down in Connecticut might very likely be alive today - had assault weapons & the rounds of ammunition (which would allow 70-100 bullets to be fired in rapid succession) been banned & illegal at the time.

This mentally deranged murderer - stole his mothers' guns and ammunition. And by all reports, these guns & ammunition were PURCHASED LEGALLY. If there had been laws banning such weapons & ammunition - this insane man would not have had access to them.

Sure, this same man could have come in and murdered several people - but the time that it took him to reload (even a few seconds) would more than likely allowed someone to stop him and maybe even kill him before could have gunned down 26 people!

Yes, this man was a nut job. And America has many other mentally deranged nut jobs out there - however, America does NOT have disporportionally any more "nut jobs" than other countries (that have much stricter gun control laws than we do.

Don't you find it interesting that other countries don't have near as many homicides & gun accidents as America does?

I just have one question for you. If you had been living in New Town, Connecticut - and it was one of YOUR CHILDREN (a first grader) that was gunned down & slaughtered by this madman - would you still cling to your same views against GUN CONTROL???

There are an estimated 350,000,000 guns in the US today. Nut jobs and criminals will get one if he wants it. I have no idea how many assault type weapons are out there, I imagine that there are lots of them. Stopping the sale now will not stop someone that is determined to kill. Would you have the government confiscate all of them?

Common Sence,
Nobody is advocating taking everyone's guns. But, we are advocating making it much much harder for people who shouldn't have guns from getting them.

And we're also advocating a permanent ban on any kind of assault weapon & the type of ammuniton that could fire large numbers - up to 100 bullets in rapid succession. Why does any gun need to be able to shoot over 5 bullets without reloading??? These types of guns & ammunition are for military use ONLY!!!

But speaking of the 350,000,000 guns you say are in this country. Can you explain why other countries with much tighter gun controls (and roughly the same number of nut jobs in their country) have DRAMATICALLY LESS HOMICIDES & MASS MURDERS THAN AMERICA DOES???

There is most definately a correlation between an excessive number of guns in this country and the excessive number of homicides & mass murders in this country.

In my personal opinion - it appears we have a bunch of overly paranoid people in this country - who believe that Obama and the Democrats want to confiscate everyone's guns.

The main reason for this paranoria - is the constant propaganda coming from the NRA (which is funded by the gun industry) People are being warned that they must be ready to defend their 2nd ammendment rights.(they are being admonished to hoard up guns & ammunition for when OBAMA COMES TO TAKE OUR GUNS AWAY)!

This paranoia hoax (being purpatrated by the NRA & the gun industry) is scaring the hell out of many people. AND THIS PARANOIA HOAX IS SELLING LOTS & LOTS OF GUNS & AMMUNITION!

So, what this all means is that the NRA & THE GUN MANUFACTURES ARE GETTING RICH FROM THE PARANOIA OF THE AMERICAN PEOPLE.

And I'm sure they are laughing all the way to the bank...

Rolla, I don't own an assault rifle, don't want one. But here is my problem, why can Obama and the Democrats infringe on the 2nd amendment but
will not even think about touching the 1st? " Oh no we can't censer violence from movies and games, that infringes on the right of free speech." (plus it would piss off our Hollywood pals) I think that the amount of violence that people see in movies, TV and video games has as much more to do with these whack jobs killing as does the availability of assault weapons.

The only people this offends are the people that hate Obama because hes black and he got elected twice as president. Lets cut to the chase and get down to the bare bone facts about this and stop tap dancing around the real issue here.

If the POTUS would have been white and republican, those who bash Obama for his decision would have applauded this decision if the tables were turned.
It doesnt matter what Obama does, the racist republicans and tea billies will hate him for the sole purpose of his skin color. Perfect example? Comrade "Wimp"-ston. Anything the guy posts is pure racism and hatred based.

Well, that may sound like common "sence" but have you ever played a violent video game? Does playing Call of Duty or watching Braveheart make you want to go on a murder spree? Ridiculous.

There are no studies linking gun violence to violent images or games. None. I guess that's what set the cowboys off during the Wild West... all of those gruesome campfire stories.

What did this sh*t kickers have in common with today's "patriots"? Racism, liquor and guns.

The shooters ar15 was still in the car. He used only pistols. And the only one with more than ten bullets in it was the nine mm. Not saying we don't need stricter gun laws. But in this case it wouldn't have made a difference cause he didn't use his assault rifle. Do u realize I can go to the local gun shop and buy ten lbs of tannerite with no license. And if u don't know what tannerite is. Google it. I'd be more concerned about this being legal than bullets.
Not true. Google it again and don't rely on the Infowars link: http://www.snopes.com/politics/guns/newtown.a...

The seeming contradiction over how Adam Lanza could have used a Bushmaster version AR-15 rifle in the shootings when that same weapon was supposedly found locked in the trunk of his car afterwards was cleared up a few days later. The weapon found in the trunk of Lanza's car was a shotgun, not an AR-15:
Adam Lanza brought three weapons inside Sandy Hook Elementary school on December 14 and left a fourth in his car, police said. Those weapons were a Bushmaster AR-15 rifle and two handguns a Glock 10 mm and a Sig Sauer 9 mm. In the car he left a shotgun ...
The medical examiner was therefore correct, not mistaken, when he stated that the rifle was the primary weapon used in the shootings.

You actually believe that the countless number of hours that Klebold and Harris spent playing Doom and watching Natural Born Killers had nothing to do with Columbine? How could anyone not believe that? By the way, no assault weapons used.

Common Sence,
I would love to see our government infringe of the 1st amendment! Yes, I think it would do this country more good than anything else to take ALL those hate & fear mongers (like Limbaugh, Beck, Hannity & and all the Fox goons) off the airways.

Yes, Democrats have their own talk shows, radio & tv. But, from what I've observed for several years - is that, there would be no need for liberal/progressive radio or tv if they would take the so-called hate & fear mongering CONSERVATIVES off the air.

Because 95% of what is discussed on liberal/progressive radio & tv is revealing (to the people) all the lies, fear & hate mongering coming out of the Conservative airways.

In other words, there is so many lies, hate & fear mongering coming out of the Conservatives airways - that it necessitates liberals having their own airways to contradict all this lying, hate & fear - so people will know what the facts really are!

I agree with you 100% that we need to start censoring our movies, tv, music, internet & video games of all violence. We also need to clean up all the vulgarity, ponography & obsenity from movies, tv, music, video games & the internet.

But, alas, violence, sex, ponography & obsenity in the movies, tv, music, internet & video games makes BIG MONEY! And as long as there is BIG MONEY to be made. Both (Bible-believing good Christian) Republicans & Democrats are not going to mess with it too much.

A few years ago, Al Gore's wife took on the recording industry - with modest success. I honestly don't know if the laws that were passed during this time - are still on the books.

Yes, it is a sad state of affairs - but a big percentage of all the problems in this country is brought on by MONEY...

There is not a verse in the Bible that is more true than this verse:

(1st Timothy 6:10) "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some covet after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrors."
