Now at GHS there can only be 3 people in a line at once. The rest have to wait outside the lunchroom till those three are done;then 3 more. How stupid is this!?! Fries only allowed twice a month and you're only allowed 7 fries and yes they count them!Elementary gets like 3 chicken nuggets. It goes on and on.Parents need to go and check out school lunch now,it's pathetic.I also heard that the food and rules were different for GHS and Carthage.I feel sorry for all that have to eat it,especially any of the athletes.Thank you Mrs.Obumer.....

Here's an idea: pack a lunch and quit complaining. Be thankful you can get lunch at school, period. In some countries they can't even get clean water in all of the school buildings.
While you're at it, be thankful you have janitors to clean up after you and that you don't have to stay after school to do that cleaning, like in China and other countries.
Despite all of it's faults, the USA is still an amazing place to live. We have so much more than so many and still complain about the silliest stuff.
If you don't like the food then bring your own. Problem solved.

As for my children we PAY for lunch! So I am thankful that we get lunch in school.....your assinine comment only shows that you are an over privilegded person who probably has no children....Lunch in school provides in many cases the ONLY food some children get each day. I work there, I know these children and I know this to be the truth. Miss Obama and her so called "health menu" have NO idea what the real world is like!

Also, having lunch in school provides jobs for many people as well.....

Let's be honest. The children who can afford to pack a lunch are not the HUNGRY ones!

It has been written so let it also be spoken: Because some country can't get clean water and China's students have to stay after to clean the school, students here must accept sh!t for lunch without complaint.

Just because sh!t is good enough for your kids, its not for mine! And as far as bringing lunch, you can't bring anything you want.No salt,no ketchup,no ranch and the list goes on and on.Do you think 7 fries is enough or 3 chicken nuggets.Do you feed your kids the same thing at home as they eat at school or leftovers from school? If you feel so bad for China then feed your family a bowl of rice and send your extra money to China.

I don't have a child in school yet so I have no idea what the problem is. I went and looked at the menu for this month, and the only difference I see is a side salad with most meals and fries only twice. How is that a huge deal? Now if a child is limited to what he/she can have and is walking away hungry then I would have a major problem. And the no ketchup and no ranch is not good either. I refuse to be limited on condiments so why should our children be limited? Please let me know if I am missing a huge point as I don't know. One thing I do know is that kids are so picky now. My mama sat supper/dinner in front of you; you either ate it or went hungry. You did not have a choice of a real meal or fast food every night. Someone please enlighten me of the problem.

You are seriously not comparing your mama's or anyone's mama's home cooked supper or dinner to today's school food.

2 ketchup packets, tiny portions. My kids comes home from school starving. Yet breakfast they get sweet rolls, pop tarts, 2 bowls cereal...I don't blame our cafeteria workers...I blame in idiot in chief...they decided childhood obesity is from lunch.. newsflash...these kids need to get outside and play. No tv, video games, computers good old fashioned playing. Maybe then kids wouldn't be so fat!!

The blame is your school board and superintendent for changing the rules. Why does the Omamas get to dictate what our children can eat in school. There has always been salt and pepper on the tables at school and we grew up OK. I for one am a PAYING parent and I feel our children are being short-changed with the schoollunches. I can't believe that parents aren't going to the school board meeting " as a group " since there is power in numbers, and change what is going on.

No actually I was not. Just trying to make a point that kids are picky eaters. If it is not fried, or grilled they won't eat it. I honestly did not eat school food. I chose pickles dipped in ranch dressing daily. I just wondered what some of the rules were to lunch and bringing your lunch etc.

Posting about school lunch on Topix is not going to change anything. Go talk to your school board member. I know the next post will be, our school board members don't do anything... They have their own agendas... blah, blah, blah. Sorry folks that is how it works. If you want it changes go make some noise.

Bunch of us has tried but Feds are dictating lunches...BOE has no control over Fed regulations, so whining to the board is useless. Thanks idiots in DC!

If the food isn't good enough for yours, send what you think is that meets the rules. Seriously. Is this your biggest issue in your life? If so, you're pretty lucky. If not, maybe focus on that bigger stuff and show your kids that it's good to be thankful instead of pitching a fit if we don't get our way completely.
Like one poster said, most kids eat free. Did you know 16 million, right here in the US, will go hungry tonight? Don't you think they'd be thankful for that meal?
I swear people are so stinking spoiled these days!

You absolutely sound like you voted for one of the idiots who thinks they should be able to dictate what people can eat.
