Did funeral last almost 2 hours? Why was this? I believe him to be
a great Christian Man but there is just so much you can say without
repeating your self.Maybe long funeral's will start happening from
now on. What do you say?

You say he gave his life, body and soul to the lord "Jesus Christ". That is all you can say.

Why begrudge a man 2 hours before being placed in the ground for eternity? If you think no more of the person than that, then you shouldn't have went.

This site is unbelievable!!! This man is DEAD!!! So many people came to pay their respects and from what I've heard of him he was a good man. I was not at the funeral...I didn't know him personally but I had to go to one of the businesses near the funeral home and I could hear the singing. I actually stopped and had a moment of silence for those people because it was moving and somebody wants to come on hear and complain about how long the service was????? Unbelievable!!!

Jackie lived his life singing and praising God for his goodness. Singing was a huge part of his life as well as was Elaines. Two hours is barely enough to honor a member of our community such as Jackie Wilburn. He was honored by Gospel singing groups from all over, it takes awhile, live with it.

You obviously read something into the above posts that I missed. I
read questions that were ask by someone that didn't attend the funeral. I read NOTHING critical or negative.

I believe these 2 were pitching out negative bait
that no one took. My opinion only, we have already
preached our funeral, only God knows are hearts,
and judges our life . It is what God says that counts not our opinions of another Christian.

No one wants to tell the bad deeds of a preacher, especially after he is dead and gone.

What someone will say about you dependes on who you ask. God knows our heart, and is our judge.I have been to funerals and left wondering if that was the same person I knew. Our opinions make
no difference. Opinions are like a lot of other things... every
body has ONE!

I have been to several funerals that have lasted two hours. I have been to funerals where they just had church and rejoiced in their sainted loved one going home. The funeral is for the family, the body is just an empty shell.

A funeral main focus should be reaching the lost
or a non-repentant christian. Our funeral has already been preached, our prayers definetly need
to be lifted up for family. I know losing a love
one is never easy. We can speak all day, and half
the night but the final out come is still the same.
The spirit and soul has gone on. You are right,
the body is an empty shell. I believe Jackie was a
fine Christian man. I don't believe in labels and
name calling. There are two times we are ALL equal
when we are born and when we die. The Eternal
difference is whether you are LOST or SAVED!!

Bottom line is we paid for the funeral and there were a bunch of folks who loved my father. His Spirit filled life will not soon be forgotten. Funerals are for the living. The next time you see Wilburn in the obituary it may be mine. Warning!!!! Don't come to the funeral if you don't like preaching, praying, singing and shouting! Oh yea and Jesus will be WORSHIPED. We ain't running for office or a popularity contest. We just love God, His Son Jesus and The Holy Spirit oh yea and you.

One more thing. Google the name Jackie Wilburn and see how long it takes you to read and listen to all about this great man of God from Smith County. Actually we could have gone longer and still not got it all in. Praise God for a dad who dedicated his life to God!!!! A good name is greater than riches!

In one of above post a couple of curious questions ask about long funerals, nothing critical from aperson that did not go to funeral.
To be honest Jackie is my favorite of the Wilburn's I believed him
to be very sincere and dedicated. I am sure with his health being
poor it took alot of effort to travel, preach and sing. His sister
Patsy is a great person also, don't know the other one,Judy.

Truth, you are a mean spirited person. You obviously have no knowledge of what you are talking about. "judge not lest ye be judged"

God has blessed our family through our singing. We are very humbled to the fact that God has shown us favor. Many times we did not see how we could make it,then God would show up and make a way. If God is in something, nobody or nothing can stop it. If He is not, cant nobody or nothing make it go! Dad was a good buisness man and a good stuard of any funds that God blessed him with. Oh yea, if you attended dads funeral or viewing you saw that he had way more friends than money. He invested in people. Blessings to you "truth" and Merry Christmas, Jonathan Wilburn P.S. I never get on these dog gone forums so you will not be hearing from me again. Our family and name needs no defense.

I wonder,if God or the devil blessed your family. The bible says, the love of money is the root of ALL evil!
