Bestway certainly wasn't weak. Can you give me some examples on how it was weak?
Best way was the best store around,Then Wal-Mart opened and the owners of BestWay decided they couldn't compete with Wal-Mart and they sold out to someone else and he couldn't run the store as well as the previous oweners and he lost customers and had to close.

Management has a lot to do with a grocery stores success !
Look how Sav-Way has grown and improved over the years !
The bridge being closed hasn't seemed to hurt thier business !
Selection and atmosphere are what grocery shoppers want along with reasonable prices !
Qudoes to Todd & Angela for having the most successful business in Smith Co

You are so right. I don't think we need another grocery store in Carthage, it would definately take customers from the other stores and that might cause one store to go under. I still think Todd should move to the Bestway location.

Why best way??? It sucked.
Best way was overpriced, it smelled funny, the stock was bad and the workers were rude.
WalMart is cheaper, bigger supply, and has friendlier people. Not to mention all the jobs it has created for our community.
People want to slam WalMart as some "evil corporation" but it's raised the quality of life for the citizens of our county.
Fact.
Deal.with it.
well you must work at wal-mart or be relatedto someone who works in upper management. You are stupid if you think wal-mart has brought a better quality of life to anyone in Smith County. Look around are you blind, deaf and dumb? You have to be to believe any of the crap you posted. The only people who are living large from walmart is the family of Sam Walton who are again on the top of the Forbes list of BILLIONAIRES, none of which has ever put in a hard days work in their lives. I am not sure what you consider a higher standard of living? Obviously you can fool yourself into thinking that walmart has raise the standard around here. You are stupid.

Well I work at Walmart and not in management ( cashier) and by them giving me a job with regular hours and pay has helped my family tremendously !
If I drove to Lebanon or Cookeville to work I wouldn't be any better of after travel expenses.
So yes Walmart has helped at least one family in smith co!

Walmart is not a gift to anyone, just ask any of the business owners who built this town, built homes, supported each other is business and as neighbors and friends. All, while their money and assets staying here, not making someone else wealthy. You may live comfortably but at what cost to this community. Now tell me again how walmart is good for this county?

Wal-Mart does cause some small business' to close, but look at it this way,a small business, say 5 employees has to close but wal-mart comes in and hires 25 people. Which is better for the community, 5 people working or 25 working?
