What I meant by that was you done have to walk a mile to get your groceries.I am not disabled, however best way was convenient for disabled people.

I miss Bestway too. Alex had a great crew.
The new owner must have thought his stuff was made of gold. He priced himself right out of business. He was selling out of date products too. I took to reading labels real closely.

But yes we do need a store back in the Bestway building. Walmart price gouges us every chance they get. Watch the sale prices on meat. I have caught them several times. Check the price per pound.

Oh and they get upset when you catch em on it. I have started taking pics with my phone of the shelf price, and the label price on the product. They get all "quiet" when you show them you know what your talking about.

I'd say you could make old Rite Aid and Bestway into a Kroger, that would be very nice.

The best solution would be for Sav-Way to move over there. Bigger store, more parking and when they get the bridge open it would not be much farther for the present customer's to drive. Closer for some.

And farther for others! Don't move sav way!

There is another possibility! If we started a e-mail campaign with "positive comments" about the need for a store in the Bestway location, what about a Dollar Market. If you have ever been in one of these stores, you will agree it would be supported. It would also increase the area for the existing Dollar General Store.

Write "positive comments" to-

Dollar General Markets are okay, but they don't carry nearly the same amounts of groceries that a regular grocery store like a Bestway or Sav-Way does. It would be like having a small Save A Lot combined with a dollar store, and it wouldn't exactly fill the void.

I don't think the population in Smith county is large enough to support a new grocery store. Sav-Way just needs to expand.

Why best way??? It sucked.
Best way was overpriced, it smelled funny, the stock was bad and the workers were rude.

WalMart is cheaper, bigger supply, and has friendlier people. Not to mention all the jobs it has created for our community.

People want to slam WalMart as some "evil corporation" but it's raised the quality of life for the citizens of our county.

Fact.

Deal.with it.

I believe if another large grocery store were to open in Carthage, Sav-A -lot or Sav-Way one would go under. No more grocery stores. Just improve the ones we have.

Both stores survived when Bestway was around. So why would it shut them down now?

That was three stores competing with wal-mart. There was not enough business to support 4 grocery stores. The weakest one had to go.
