He could go but I doubt it. His nephew moved here to play for him and has one more year. I dont see him leaving til he graduates but I guess he could.

Looks like they will offically offer Maynard today. Heard directly from board member they will offer 12,000 over his pay at Smith co. Plus will only teach study hall 8-2 have Football last period of the day. I would think 900 a month, no headachs of being priciple, and 5 min drive to work should get him. They also said they would make 3 other coaching spots avalible for him to bring with him. 3umor has it would be Tackett, some other Smith coach I can't remember, and Dyer from Macon.

And I thought they were pushing it in the the early 1970's with Yeaman, McDonald and Landreth. But then again Landreth also coached girl's BB and McDonald boy's BB & PE.

Well times do change...remember with SCHS wasnt accredited? When we lost all our football games? People with learning disabilities were put in a class and just passed without their special needs being addressed. We had 1 principal and 1 secretary and 1 guidance counselor and the auditorium could accomadate graduation? 7th and 8th grade were combined with us and seniors were dating 7th graders! So even though we had fun and look back on the good ole days with fondness things have changed and many for the better!

Any truth to this? Did he take the job? If its truth, he should. Hard to turn a offer like that down. I don't think anyone at SC would blame him & would understand the circumstances. He would be missed though.

Bigger is not always better. Carthage was a fun place to grow up in even though - looking back - there wasn't that much to do but we always managed to find things to keep us entertained until bedtime. I guess I am one of those taxpayers who want the most bang for my buck. In my days at SCHS, Fowler Stanton was the band director, chorus director, as well as band teacher to all students from the 4th grade up. And if that wasn't enough, he also drove the school bus everyday from the Jackson County line to SCHS. Turney Ford wasn't the legend at SCHS he was at GHS but him and Capolenor managed to coach all sports + PE. Even though SCHS wasn't the football powerhouse it was later known for, Ford built them into a winning team b4 he was "moved" to GHS and handed over everything to Yeaman.
