Why did SCHS band leave game

First off, "witness" you must have me confused with someone else. I was not wearing, nor do I even own, red contacts. Secondly, I never once yelled at any fan(s). And finally, I am an approved assistant. I been working with the band since band camp, and I hope to continue doing so.

First off, this has absolutely nothing to do with the football team, football in general, or whether football or band is better. That is an invalid argument, because everyone has different perspectives. Please understand that. My name is on here because I take credibility for what I say, and I ask that if anyone tries to retaliate against me, please leave the band out. Okay, there was not weed involved. Secondly, having gone to the school, I knew a lot of kids who did smoke weed, and I didn't know of many band members. And my only question is since when did it become respectable to shove and yell at a kid? I understand that people would be angered by disrespectful kids, but nonetheless, they are kids. In reality, the police should have been called. The alumni, assistants, and definately the students, should have not been at all involved in arguments, and if they were rude, that was wrong of them. However, I will say that the people could have easily been charged with disturbance of the peace, harrassment of minors, and aggravated assault on a minor. Let's not forget that the fact that the kids may have been rude is what should separate the children and adults. It could have been avoided by the people moving. When adults argue with children it shows lack of maturity on both ends. In remark to the typical "band is gay" comments, I know that in high school it seems really lame and uncool, but band isn't about being cool. It's about making music. And music isn't a sport, it's a language. And just like football and basketball, kids from that school are given scholarships for music every year to good universities. I was last year. It's a career path, yet it doesn't limit a person. For example, I'm a music education major right now, but I work as a personal trainer at a fitness club, and I played sports and did martial arts from the time I started school to the time I graduated high school. And an education in music is a very desirable thing in job applications because it shows discipline, commitment, time management, and orginizational skills. And that is a proven fact. On a high school level, please remember that band is something these kids do, not who they are. Everyone should take pride in the band, as they take pride in the school. And you don't want to lose that from them because it would be a sad thing. I know the media these days puts a negative comedic focus on band, but if you give these kids the time of day, I swear they're just like everyone else. They all have goals and believe it or not, you all have things in common.“How would your life be different if…You stopped making negative judgmental assumptions about people you encounter? Let today be the day…You look for the good in everyone you meet and respect their journey.”-Steve Maraboli-

What is this world coming to? There are so many things wrong with the entire mindset, approach and leadership from school board to jr high kid. Son you are rigt no adult should do that but this one instance shines in the faces of parents, alumni, supporters and family of a generation that basically was mirror opposite for many years. For a AA small town we achieved as well and to be quite honest we had the best program year inyear out in the state definately and then some. Your not gonna get alot of sympathy with our generation because we worked so hard for it. Plain and simple period. You represent your town and school above all. Thats were pride and heart comes from. Then comes the other. The day this program went away from it it started down. To get support you must give it. To be whatever nonsense your talking about gay and band blah blah. Hard fact of life! But it is true.....if your called that in band you will almost certain out. The fact your in band is nothing more than a way to associate a group. If you are unsocial, speak of ballplayers in negative ways and such life happens. If you are doing your job in schs band and note i said schs band then most likely that will eventually stop. Was opposite when i was in school so if you want it changed fix it. I played baseball and band both all thru school and sure problems occur but YOU DONT LEAVE YOUR CLASSMATES OUT TO DRY! Unless medical emergency this is not done. Wtf hires these directors?

I was at the game and I did not witness any of this. Ive read some of this and Ive heard contradicting reports from ppl that witnessed this but I still dont have a clue what really happened. I just know the band came in after the game started and did not play at halftime because they left. What Ive read and heard is disturbing but from a person that is always at the games I want to say I want the band there. I want them to play. I want them to be successful! I think people should look at what happened, why it happened, and how situations can be handled in a proper manner...depending on what really happened apologies may be needed. Lets support all our students, athletes, bandmembers etc. If the band and/or the crowd were rude lets check ourselves and consider the other persons feelings and show each other respect. We are better than this! Dont forget SCP!!

Not once did the band ask the people to move. They were rude from the get go and should arrive to games on time. NO adult shoved a minor. There could be NO charges that to be made. If you weren't there just stop talking!

Well, since it is obvious that most of you don't now know what really happened let me fill you in... People were sitting in the "band section" when we arrived at 6:45pm, there was three rows that were empty, and I believe a band mom said these seats are reserved for the band. We sat down next to a couple on a row that was full of people, not the empty rows. Note the band still not in their seats. At 6:55 the band walks up the bleachers, the bands parents, I guess all on the top rows move and the band begins to move in. The adult band assistants, sorry not sure what they are called but not the director, starts mouthing under breath and talking to the people that are sitting in the seats stating that this is the band section and they need to move, very rudly. People move and some move down rows making room for the band. Trying to make things work. The assistants continue to mouth of but say we will make it work. The band director is not around at this point. The kids are looking around looking for someone to tell them where to go. Later things get "settled" but the kids are taking lead from the adults and becoming disrespectful to the fans that moved down to make room for them. The color guard are hitting them with their flags, trumpets are hitting fans in the head and then laughing about it. And nothing is being done! The kids are showing no respect to the adults. So you all can blame the fans about "running" the band off, but the parents if the kids need to teach these kids some lessons in respecting their elders.
And before you begin to "bash" me, I know what it was like to be in the band as I was in my high school marching band for 4 years so I know all that comes along with it!!!
i wasnt at the game so idk what happned and really dont care. but if u was in the band or four years then you of all people should have known that the section of bleachers was reserved or the band.

Yes, you are correct, I did say I was in the band, many moons ago, but you see we didn't take up seats in the bleachers that are for the paying fans. We at homes games had a special area, just like SC Marching band does cause the bleachers are bigger, but at away games, knowing that many schools do not provide a large visitors section we would bring chairs and sit in those BESIDE the bleachers and play. You see we were a large band of 150+ members not counting our color guard so if we sat in the bleachers the fans would have had nothing.
So, I guess my point is if a band of our size could have done this years ago, I think it might be something to consider for SC, don't you think?
And when I can into the game at 645 last Friday nothing other than this lady telling me this was for the band told me "Hey, this area is for SC band!!" I didn't sit in the rows that where left empty, I sat where other people where sitting. I figured these people were told not the sit in these empty rows. I didn't know how the band was going to sit. Maybe the drums were going to stand down on the grass and the brass and woodwinds up in the stands since the stands were so full and nothing was roped off and they were running late. I mean it could have worked out where everyone worked together to make it work, I mean good grief, it was a football game to support the football players, cheerleaders, band, and the students and the fans!!!! On booths sides!!
This entire thread in getting ridiculous, the adults and kids both!!! So what if kids like band, football, baseball, concert band, art, theatre, basketball, cheerleading or dance....these are all talents, they have nothing to do with being gay, stupid, or weird. Grow up and move on!!!!

I know exactly what Carthage is, but 'Carthridge' must be some new city that I've never heard of...unless some idiot messed up one of the oldest city names in the world...at least I know how to pronounce and spell words correctly. And no...if you really must know where I'm from, I used to live in Lebanon but I now live in Carthage.
