John, you don't go from voting for Obama to suddenly being a conservative Republican. Let her help some other GOP candidates and prove her worth before asking for our votes. Melba is just a disgruntled former county employee who is trying to hide her Democrat past so she can get elected.

Voting is a right we all have. I will say that I am a republican but will admit that I will vote for the person I think is best for the position. It is my right and opinion to vote for who I want! It is none of anyone's business who Melba voted for! It is ridiculous that this is even been brought up! I can tell you Melba has ran the office she is running for for a long time without the title. She has morals and she is who you should want for that position. I can't believe someone would say that they were going to vote for her but would not for this reason!

If you were a woman you would vote Hillary? Really? And if you were black, Obama? Good politics.

I never said I knew her well or that she has never ran the office. I just agreed with someone's commit. The commit was based on switching sides, from dem to rep. Thats all. Please don't take it to heart. Not trying to hurt anyone's feeling here.

Actually, when you decide to run for public office your political views are EXACTLY what you are running on which makes this a huge deal! She voted liberal and is now running as a conservative to get elected. Pretty hard to defend.

Ok! I hear what you are saying. My question to you is would you rather have someone in there who knows what they are doing or someone who is been in that position and doesn't have a clue because Melba did it all. Also, would you rather have someone with morals?

According to the Georgia Secretary of State's voter database, Melba Scoggins (REPUBLICAN candidate for Clerk of Court) voted in the Democrat Presidential Primary. Which means she did not vote for McCain, she did not vote for Huckabee, she did not vote for Romney. No - she voted for either Hillary or Obama. Wow!
why ???

I don't know what morals you are talking about? Maybe I am missing some mudslinging? I don't find Melba has stuck to her morals by voting Democrat and running republican just to get elected. If she is a democrat run that way.

If you know some immoral facts on Bell then sounds like neither get the check mark on that box. I am talking about FACTS, not here say or accusations. I haven't seem Bells name in the blotter so I am assuming no laws have been broken? Just some people don't like the way he operates?

I know the clerks office has gone through a massive transformation and expansion since Bell has been there. Melba was there long before Bell right? Does Melba deserve criticism for the office being behind when Bell took office? Of course not. Tish Johnson was in charge.

Bell has done a good job as clerk. Sure, good employees make that possible. Melba has retired. She needs to stay that way and leave Bell to continue to do his job. Just my opinion.

Have a good day!

Sung to the tune of Ol' Sussanah:

She wants to be the Clerk of Court, I guess she needs a job... she claims to be Republican, her voting record says she's not.

Melba Scoggins, she's too liberal for me... she voted for Obama or that leftist Hillary.

Knowing nothing of her political movements, I personally know of Melba as a hate filled individual; I am definitely surprised to hear of people calling her the moral choice. To know that she flip-flops politically seeking advantage in votes does though assimilate with my opinion of her character.

Additionally, her less than appealing countenance adorning her posters is sickineing me and only echoes the same type of pollution that such an individual will incite within any office.

Bell is best choice for the position.

As a voter for Bartow County,I am wondering why Melba is running for office, when she is retired from Bartow County. Is this not double dipping to the taxpayers?
