Much worse than this happened in a county school with female teacher and male students. We're talking sex and drugs. It was even reported by the parent. What happened to being a mandated Reporter? I hear some of the guys are talking.

The Soccer Coach has been removed so now maybe things will get back to normal. He has been in the system along time he should have known better. Lets move on to something else. This case is closed.

Did the Coach get charged with anything or did he just get removed?

Sean McDermott has been fired by the Board. The police investigation is ongoing so that means it ain't over, yet.

And the article also says the police have found "no credible witnesses" to anything inappropriate. I do not pretend to have any factual info, but from what I have heard, this is looking more and more like a teacher being accused by a student with an agenda and a school playing CYA. I may be wrong, but so far these accusations are not passing the smell test.

So he is your husband? Brother? Father? You must be family.

He got fired so he must have passed the smell test.

Nope, not family, but I do know the gentleman in question and do not believe a word of this/these accusation(s). And after reading what has been in the paper so far, I feel justified in my belief. What was the title of the article - "teacher terminated after ethics violations, student complaints" - typical sloppy journalism from the local paper. After a hearing lasting 10 1/2 hours, the most the school board came up with was ONE ethics violation - not plural. As I have already stated, I do not pretend to know the facts of this case and I have not talked to anyone in his family to get their side. But I do know the man, he coached my daughter - and she is disgusted by this whole thing and believes not a word of it either. The scenarios that best fit this situation are that either:
1. The girl is angry about something and so is out to ruin the teacher, or
2. Something happened for which the girl is either embarassed or afraid of getting into trouble, made these accusations to try to cover herself and it has snowballed to the point she is afraid to admit the truth for fear of getting in a whole lot of trouble herself now. I prefer that scenario to thinking a child is as vindictive as the first would call for.
And as much as it disgusts me, I can understand (not respect) what the school board did. They have had a student(s) make a complaint(s), they have done an investigation and probably (just as the police have found so far, found no "credible evidence") of any wrongdoing. However, their lawyers are telling them that they cannot keep a teacher who has had this type of allegation made against them - because if something happens down the road - the school could get sued for heaven only knows what. So the board takes the easy way out, regardless of the consequences to the teacher - and finds SOMETHING they can make into an (as in ONE) ethics violation to give them grounds to fire him. Thus they take any risk away from the school.

Could I be wrong, of course - and if it is proven, I will apologize. But I know this man, I respect this man and I do not believe he did anything wrong.

So you admit you don't know ANY of the facts of this case, but you KNOW he didn't do i. And you haven't talked to any of the family about it... but you KNOW he didn't do it. I hope to hell you never serve on a jury. Just because he coached your daughter doesn't make him innocent.

How stupid.

As I said, I know the man, which it what I base my opinion on, but I am not about to question him about this. How do you know he is guilty? Our legal system is based on the presumption of innocent until proven guilty - so unless you know more than has been printed in the paper, the only one being stupid is you.

You sound like those people who said Sandusky from Penn State was innocent, because he would never ever do something like that.

I did not say he was innocent and I didn't say he was guilty, stupid woman. Keep defending him, and when your own daughter gets herself in that type situation, we'll tell you she is making it up. And I would testify that she did make it up.

So are you going to testify as a character witness for him? I think you should.

Reading comprehension is obviously not your strong suit. I have clearly stated my position and stated it was based on my knowledge of the man both as a coach and as a friend. I have also stated that just like everyone else on here, I am getting my information from what is public knowledge and so far I have seen nothing to substantiate the accusation, which is apparently the police position as well. However, virtually every other poster on here has ASSUMED he is guilty just because of the accusation. Again, love that presumption of guilt with no facts to back it up. I don't like seeing anyone's reputation smeared with no real evidence presented and I have taken this same position on other issues and simply asked people to have some consideration for the families of people if not the individual themselves and to wait until investigations are complete before completely assassinating someone's character. If you consider that stupid that says far more about you than it does about me and my conscience is clear. I will certainly waste no more time on someone of your ilk.
