In my humble opinion, the Dixie Mafia is alive, but possibly not doing so well. That's relative though because they have changed their tactics. They have been around for a long time and will continue to survive. To deny that they exist, albeit in a different form is to simply be naive.

White people will want to know someone in the Dixie Mafia when the government takes entitlements from the blacks. There will be violence. It is imminent....

It is unfortunate. It is not just the black community but all of the unemployed community. People want and need opportunity. Without it the hunger lines will grow and people will do what it takes to survive.

By the way. Dixe Mafia is political corruption.

I didn't need the FBI to tell me about all the crapp that goes on with law enforcement. Lots of people in the county already knew that. Now less just see if they do anything about it!

If there is anything called the Dixie Mafia they are nothing but a bunch of lowlife scum sucking pigs that have to make up a name to make them self feel like they are important when in truth they do nothing but sell dope, steal from people and hurt people who have done nothing to them.
Hey D.M. how do you like that?

They didn't name themselves. They were quite happy doing all things you mention above to worry about names. The late Ralph McGill of the Atlanta Journal is reputed to have named them in one of his op-ed pieces. The name stuck.

Either way, they are all the above

You are right about that! Daddy dearest made millions in prison. Dixie Mafia was very real & they were NOT toothless rednecks. They were well dressed, upscale living men & women who lived a lavish lifestyle in the 60's when I was with them. Yes a couple of them made the FBIs 10 most wanted list. We weren't proud of that, but Daddy made sure Mom stayed out of prison during the big trail.
Another member was involved with Woody Harrelsons father in prison & wound up testifying against Jimmy Chagra for the feds. In return he was granted a release from 2 life terms in New Mexico prison & told to never return to their state. He also was paid in excess of half a million for his testimony & given a new life in the witness protection program in 1983 when the Chagra trial was over.
Read about it in the book "Of Rats & Men" based on the life of the so called "mob attorney" who is now mayor of Las Vegas.
Anything else you want to know about dear old Dad just ask. I'm one of the few who don't fear him because he knows I have too much shit to tell that hasn't come out about him. I also am one of only 3 outside the FBI who know his new name & whereabouts. Hey Dad...call me....same house where the Auntie who testified for Mom in El Paso lived. You know the one.

I knew Jerry Ray James. What do you want to know & why? How are you related? Where can I write you other than here? Or call you? Up to you. You'll have to prove to me who you are first.

Is there anything about this person online, and do you think the book is factual and/or worthy of purchase?

I liked the book but it doesn't focus on the Dixie Mafia. It just happens to mention one of them in regard to the Jimmy Chagra trail. It's about Oscar Goodmans' career as a "mob attorney" & covers a lot of interesting & funny antidotes. I'd recommend it but who knows how factual it is since Goodman loves publicity & thinks he's pretty hot shit. At only $1 online plus shipping you can't go wrong..LOL
Then again there are a lot of books that mention members of the Dixie Mafia or the James Gang..aka "Jerry (Fats Jerry) Ray James & his cohorts in crime. There's one written by a Texas Ranger called "One Ranger Returns" which is his 2nd book & he tells several stories but I've just seen the previews of it & heard certain parts mentioned.. not read it yet.
Check out the movie "Extreme Prejudice" it deals with the DM too.
I knew the attorney "Flanagan" who they called a drug smuggling pilot. He was a frequent visitor at our home & we even gave him one of our dogs when we moved out of Texas.
A lot of people I knew are dead now. Others in hiding or too old to run fast enough these days to commit crimes like bank robbery, etc. I lost touch with most of them, but the memories still remain.
