Is Gipson that stupid? The first dirty lawyer he tried to sneak into city hall got caught, so he called in another of his donors to apply at the last minute? Thankfully neither of these attorneys will have anything to do with our city. Time to get rid of Gipson now!

"This is a wonderful opportunity," said James Casso of the firm Meyers, Nave, Riback, Silver & Wilson, which submitted a bid. "Carson is a city that has a very active Redevelopment Agency, and very active issues with mobile home parks. You've got the Home Depot Center, the remediation of the old landfill site. There's exciting opportunities within the city."

-Exciting opportunities? Sounds kinda messy to me.

I have to agree with you, sadness. I was kind of hoping he would have won that assmbly seat, just to get him out of Carson. His arrogance, and the rest of the 3 stooges, are causing chaos and turmoil in our city. Vote them out!

Thank you Mayor Dear for pointing out the inconsistancies regarding these bids. It appears that some laws have been broken. We must remember that Lula was Sweeney's campaign chairman, while working for the city of Carson. She got a sweet promotion shortly after his election. Is this Chicago? Don't forget the Elito was Fajardo's campaign chairman while aledged election fraud was taking place. Also, during the election lawsuit he didn't have to take the stand or even defend himself. Vera had a deal with him. Just get Julie! But the courts found that Julie did nothing wrong. Gipson's gotta go. Thank you Mayor, don't let them get off the hook.

Because the council now has a new majority does not mean they should be STUPID! Mr. Wynder is the best mobile home attorney in California. Why would you want to fix what is not broken? He has not lost a rental review case yet.

Who cares who voted for his services? He gets the job done. Mr. Wynder has made himself available to the public. No other Carson attorney has had did that!

The council should not cut off its nose to spite its face! All of the current council members are like children. If you don't do it my way - it's the highway!

You all should remember who pays you!! Listen to the residents and keep Mr. Wynder - he is well worth the cost.

Cheap most times means expensive. You get what you pay for!

Thanks smart. If your way of thinking is correct then we should not trust any one from the democrat or republican parties because they have all supported some crooked politictian so they must be too. Is that how you judge someone? I dont have a problem with rational thinking that is backed by conclusive evidence. But to paint Lula and Elito with the same brush? There are many Dear and Willams supporters who once voted and helped Sweeney and Fajardo also, should they they be painted with that same brush? If your analogy is true? They did help those crooks get elected too? Give me some meat not BS! Say it like it is you dont like them you dont have any proof to back up your feeling but you think they are not right for the city.. OK I can respect that...

Bad move Mike Gipson. I'm so tired of Carson's corrupt politicians. Our city can be so great with the right leadership. It's time for the citizens of Carson to take note of these people and vote them out. I personally will start to get more active. Do more for the people you are serving not for those that fund your campaigns. Its a crying shame.

Thanks for the insight Dog, The evidence is the meeting at Sizzler and the actions of the majority shortly after the special election. I'm not painting everyone guilty because they voted for or were supporters of the crooks. But, when the evidence states that Gipson made a deal for his vote and then received $3,800 in campaign contributions with a lucretive contract hanging in the balance the result is that a law has been broken and a full investigation needs to take place. The reason I mention that those two are tied to Sweeney and Frank is because they are using the same tatics. This is exactly how Sweeney and Frank worked the deal with BSI for a multi million dollar contract, just too coincidences for me. By the way Dog, you still in Murietta, 50 miles away? Come to town and watch the next council meeting. I cannot understand why they want to get rid of the best city attorney we have ever had. Bill Wynder knows all there is to know about mobil home parks and the law. Say hi to the Pechanga for me.

Hey 30 years. I have been living in Carson from the beginning, 40 years. I would have been moving except for the housing slump. I can't agree with you more. I really hope you do get involved. You know a council majority is not bad. It's just what that majority is up too. If it is good for the community and positive like the restuarants that are coming and the development on the 157 acre landfill that is good for us and will help our budget. Just look at the Toyota dealership on 223rd street, It took the council majority to get that rolling and it looks great. It will bring in more that one million dollars in taxes to Carson. The annexation, which was killed by this council majority, would have done the same. It's like California with a legislative majority. Since I am a democrat I like have a democratic majority and think that is a good thing and a republican majority is not (my opinion only). you know, Gipson also made deals with the oil companies and tobacco industry and received hugh contributions from them while running for the assembly. It's in his reports.

FYI Smart.. I checked his contributions and it looks like he got the contributions before the meeting took place. So it's unlikely contributions was the topic of the meeting at the resturant? Any half witted elected official is not going to discuss contributions at the same meeting a contract for services is discussed. So maybe the guy contributed to his campaign. Then sometime later they met for lunch and desired changes for the new year are discussed and legal services is discussed as an area that has not been reviewed for sometime and the guy says hey If you put that out I'd like to bid it and maybe the councilmember says you need to secure 3 votes. I dont have a problem with this. Salesmen land business for there firms by having meeting with decision makers all the time. Most meeting start out with when will you be considering a change in what i offer.... The source of this story has no integrity that's why they are hiding his name to sell newspapers and many Carson readers fall for it... I have now heard the source has sour grapes with one of the council members and threw Leal under the bus in a misdirected attempt to harm the councilmember. Leal gets hit with this guys misdirected anger. If I were Leal I'd sue the pants of that jerk!

Wynder is a "top-notch" city attorney and, quoting Carson Resident, Why would you want to fix what is not broken?" An ounce of prevention is better than a pound of cure. Eventually all to level-headed senior staff will be jettisoned and Carson will be mired in the morass of political tom-foolery!

Whoever is defending this Gipson character for getting caught needs to stop. You are just lying now.
Gipson received the contributions on November 21, and that is straight off the Secretary of State's website. That is the exact date mentioned in the original article too. His campaign officially received the contributions a couple days after the meeting took place because he probably received the checks that day and it took 24 hours to get them reported.
Looks like Gipson knew what he was doing, taking money for personal favors. Stop blaming the reporter, the source, the residents of Carson or anybody else. The blame is on Mike Gipson
