Beauty is where you choose to find it-- there is nothing magical about lightning, but it can be quite beautiful.
That is, until it strikes a crowded building, and kills several people-- then? Not so much beautiful as it is frightening.
Ben Franklin invented a Lightning Rod, which allowed mere people to >>control<< the lightning, redirecting it harmlessly into the ground.
When Franklin first demonstrated the idea? Genuine Christians™ were horrified! How DARE Mr Franklin take away god's right to MURDER people on a whim!
Later, after all buildings but >>churches<< were protected? And after several churches burned to the ground from lightning strikes? The anti-lightning Genuine Christians™ were shouted down-- or else they slunk off with their collective tails between their cowardly legs.
This has how it's been down through history.
Yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder... so very true. Did you gave a good day?

<quoted text>Why it's not what? Beautiful? Lightning is incredibly beautiful. Thunder? While I love the sound, I have yet to see it. Have you ever seen ball lightening, or the light show that comes with a hurricane?
Sooner or later, I will end up being hit by lightning, a rain storm has always been an invitation for me, to step out and into the maelstrom.
Hello, maybe you should stay inside then, and just peek out the window. lol
No, I have never seen ball lightening, or a light show...

I'm baaaacck... Did you miss me? Or should I leave again... lol It was Thunder and Lightening here a moment ago. So I had to go open the windows to hear it better...So incredibly beautiful!
ps.. You will probably have a scientific reason why it's not, right? lol :)
It's your religious predjudice that prevents you from accepting that atheists can feel the beauty of life just as well as the next person.

When you understand why something is beutiful scientifically, it enhances your understanding and appreciation.

Instead of filling in the gaps with a proven lie and childish fairy story.

You were indoctrinated as a child. You were told about the great invisible sky wizard who you need to believe in and telepathically communicate with or suffer an eternity of hell.
This tactic is fading though as we see churches closing at an all time high rate.

Your god is a delusion nothing more. Had you been born in India you would be worshipping shiva.
<quoted text>
I don ' t remember you being around during my childhood.
The tone of your comment is snide. You apparently think you are superior to us Believers so if being like you is indicative of being a non-Believer then Praise God even more He delivered me!!!!:)
That's my sense of humor, before you get your panties in a was.
There's really no sense in being ugly just because you disagree with my way of thinking.
God gives us all free will & you can choose to disbelieve if you want but don't knock me because I am a Believer.

You're a liar with no proof of god. That's what all theists are. If you think otherwise, you are welcome to prove your god...

It is always easier for a theist to attack or insult an atheist, than it is for him to prove his god.

Since there is no proof of god, what is a theist to do except whine and cry at the very people that made them realise their own stupidity?

On opposite edges of Copley Square, separated by the makeshift memorial to the Boston Marathon bombing victims, two oases of calm reopened Wednesday and lured hundreds of visitors from the crowded plaza and surrounding streets.

The visitors knelt or sat in the majestic sanctuaries of Trinity Church and Old South Church, many alone, reflecting on the meaning of the mayhem that took three lives and injured 264 people only steps away.

They had come to pray.

God is an experience. He is something you just know deep inside. Quite frankly, I don't have to prove jack, but I will share what I know.
I grew up in a Christian home but we did not attend church all the time. When I got in high school I wanted everything the world had to offer and ultimately I got it in spades.
Now, 30 some years after high school I finally have a relationship with Jesus & I'm thankful.
I have had cancer. My house burned down. My mom passed away, and I have one child hooked on prescription pain medication & 2 stepchildren hooked. I can honestly say I could never have lived through all this (which isn't even the whole story) if I didn't have Jesus in my life.
I rededicated my life 11 years ago & all I can say is I'm not going back. I'm looming ahead & keeping my eyes on the prize.
I am not a liar. I know Jesus loves me. Take a minute or 2 out of your bitterness & just look at the beautiful spring unfolding. It's amazing.

or "He" is love, or whatever blah, blah.

All Abrahamic god(s) and these..

are obviously superstitious nonsense.

Religion = superstition. Religion is man-made, not god-given and it's divisive nonsense.

Exactly. Superstition can be a crutch for some people.

I don't mean to be unsympathetic to your suffering or problems and I don't pretend to know how you feel. Whatever help superstition has been to you it also causes problems. As long as religion is kept out of politics, science, morality, the law and especially out of education, then the only concern is the harm done by defending superstition. One problem there is that one cannot undermine one superstition (e.g witchcraft, Islam, or a cult a person becomes involved in) while trying to maintain another superstition (e.g. Christianity).

Not all of us need superstition in our lives to cope with our challenges, fears or grief. Those that do need to avoid the religious tribalism, segregation of children into religious denominated schools and the rest of the more serious damage superstition can do.

I'm not superstitious. I am a Believer & I think there's a difference. God is not easy to explain. You have to experience Him for yourself. If or until you do...nothing anyone can say to you will change your mind.
I realize you're not gonna be swayed any more than I would be in your direction. So on that note, I hope you have a great day!
