The road closure on KY 36 scheduled to begin next week has been postponed to March 11.
Contractors plan to begin work on a new bridge over Locust Creek in Carroll County, Ky., that will close the road for about three months. The road will be closed to traffic beginning March 11, a Kentucky Transportation Cabinet release said.
The rainy weather caused the delay, Carroll County Judge-Executive Harold "Shorty" Tomlinson said. The delay will also push back the road's reopening to June 30, weather permitting.
M. J. Haddix of the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, said in an email that a diversion road in the construction zone for residents has yet to be installed.
The new $2.6 million bridge will have three spans and will be 231 feet long including the approaches. The south approach will be reconfigured to provide better sign distance for safety.
During the closure a signed detour will be in place. Travelers may take KY 36 from Milton to U.S. 421 to U.S. 42 and back to KY 36 in Carroll County. Local residents may also use KY 1492 and KY 3176 to KY 1226, although that route will not be posted.
Judy Construction Company of Cynthiana was awarded the low-bid contract of $2.6 million, which is funded by the state.

And 18 wheelers and dump trucks would be out of route how many miles especially with the Milton-Madison bridge off limits to commercial vehicles?
