What is the deal with this guy and all of his businesses? According to the KY Secretary of State's website, he is not involved in any business in this state that is actively registered or in good standing with the Sec'y of State. The S of S administratively dissolved his company "Bilco, Inc." in 2008 for failure to file its annual report. So is he flying by the seat of his pants with all of his businesses or does someone else own them or what? What all does he own/run? The Carrollton Inn, Tiki, what else? Lexi's or whatever its name is?

I didn't even know Bill lived here full-time but he's running for City Council so I guess he does. Does he live at the Carrollton Inn? That's his address on Pipl.

I thought I'd try the buffet at the Inn several/many weeks ago when it was being advertised as "new and improved" with a new chef (Kara something, maybe?) but the 2 evenings I went there (early...maybe 6 pm), the whole place was locked up tight, lights off, no people. I haven't gone back lately but I haven't heard anything about the Inn being permanently closed either. What gives?

Ha! You're posting in the middle of the day too but I'm the one who's on welfare/crazy check? If I get a crazy check it's because I do a crazy job with crazy hours! LOL I've probably been working longer than you've been alive. But, whatever...

I'm not trying to slime the guy, I'm just doing my homework before I decide who to vote for. That's why I care! There's a lot of official, valuable info out there for this very reason. But this place (Topix) seems to be the hub for the "scoop" although it takes a lot of patience and creativity sometimes to cut through the poor spelling and grammar, ignore the rants, discard the slime and insults, etc. to piece things together.

Sooo...if I read your little rant correctly (especially the part where you say he might be hiring again if he can open back up), he has closed down something. Right? Can I assume it's the Inn? Whatever it is, I hate that the town has lost a business.

I don't want this guy's businesses to fail. I don't have anything against him at all. I just want to know that the people I vote for for City Council are going to remain here throughout their term because they have family or a business ties in the area and that they're as much on the up and up as possible. Some of them I know personally, some I don't.

I have known Bill for about 15 years he lives in the 200 block of main in Carrollton and has for all those years and still does. He has done alot for our Community you just dont see his name in the paper. He runs his business and still finds to volu for our town he has served on our Tourism board, Main street board, Chamber Board. How many other people with just one busines does that I think its time for some new leaders we dont need all these ord and inspections for our back yards and Bills is against it Go Bill

I'm glad to hear the reports of Bill's generosity within his community with both his time and his disaster assistance. These things encourage me to consider him seriously for city council.

Are all of his local businesses currently operational? There was a statement above that seemed to indicate maybe that isn't the case. I know people retire, sell businesses and close businesses for all sorts of reasons. I just thought it was odd that there's no record of any of his businesses being incorporated, which given the size and nature of them (especially the bars), seems like he's taking one HUGE risk. Instead of his business being held liable should something happen that invited a lawsuit (heave forbid), he could be held personally liable which could wipe him out financially, personally and professionally. That's a maverick approach but some people are mavericks and risk-takers!

I have to admit I was really surprised when I found the Inn closed some weeks ago but I also knew that the city was cracking down big-time late this summer by closing every business that hadn't gotten its local business license renewed on time which ticked off some folks royally (and maybe it should have ticked them off; it seemed a bit harsh). Those things are easy to forget sometimes so I had thought maybe that's all that had happened: the city had closed him for a few days until he'd gotten his local license renewed. No big deal. Was that it?

I don't need the gory details, I don't want to see his books, overall, I don't care although I hate to see anyone's business stumble, let alone fail, especially when they've been part of the community for years. If the owner(s) is a good guy, I hate it even more. But I seem to remember that Bill's from Northern KY somewhere and I don't want him to go back there if he's elected to Council here. If his businesses aren't doing well or aren't open at all, what is the draw for him to stay in C-ton?

And if it seems like I'm singling him out, it's because I like to see successful business owners on the City Council and I know he used to be one. Is he still?

Thanks!

he is not on the Tourism board and not on the Chamber board. Don't know where he got all his money to purchase so many businesses but I khow he sure used to spend the money. He used to go to auctions and money was no object if he wanted something. The food at the Inn got to be so bad, I don't think he could keep good help,

I have heard all are for sale except the Tiki Bar. The monopoly approach of owning the majority of the bars in Carrollton hasn't paid off. I think he has spread himself to thin. I like Bill, a little odd at times, but that is probably said about me as well. If he concentrates on the Tiki Bar like he did when it first opened, I think it could be successful again.

I was on the tourism board at one time and i can tell you for sure he was on it for at least ten years he was active and worked on it harder then most as for the chamber board Im pretty sure he was on that too He might not be on them now not sure but i would take him on my board if i was still on one. He is a good honest guy the only people that are slandering him dont know him As for the auction comment yes he went to those but only to get deals to remodel his business hey dont all his business look better then they did before him

I am blown away. This is the first thread I have read on here where the "topic" remained exactly as it was designed to do. Someone posted something looking for information and recieved several replies without trashing or disrespecting someone. I applaud you all! Topix could be a great source of information to many and a wonderful benefit to our community if more people like yourselves used it and could conduct themselves in the same way.
As for Bill...I too went to the Carrollton Inn about 2 months ago and found it closed. I wa sadly dissappointed. We have been away for a few years but have always considered that one of the nicest places in town to eat. It seems no one is safe from this economy and I am sure that played in to the closing.
He has always been a very friendly man and cared about his business and his customers. I'd like to see someone like that on the city counsel personally.
But either way I wish him much luck in whatever he does next.

You're right, Cruel Dude. This has been, for the most part, a VERY civilized thread that has definitely stayed on topic: mostly easy-to-read posts and virtually no slime! I wish other threads could be this focused.

To those of you who have provided some of the answers to the questions I posed, I sincerely thank you!
