That really shows your intelligence mater, I think growing food and feeding a family is far more important than raising trees! not to mention you can use a manufactured tree year after year.. Your such a egg-head. Haha just keep wasting your money year after year on a tree you have to throw away.
I think selling trees to provide a home and buy food for your family is more important than planting "food" on land that that you're going to lose due to unpaid property taxes. Planting a garden doesn't do much good if you don't have a house to eat said in, dumbass. Oh, and I'll stick with my artificial tree, thank you :)

If the land is yours grow what you want, if you go broke you lose the land and the next person makes that decision. Freedom allows us to do that. It is admirable that the person that likes fake trees wants to feed others. Plenty of food here buy some give it to those that need it. Better yet find a way to get food to the places that do not have enough. That requires money and selling trees might be a way to get the money to provide food for others. Just saying there is more than one way to skin a cat. I guess you could eat that too. MERRY CHRISTMAS and HAPPY BIRTHDAY JESUS!!

Christmas is a fun holiday, but it's not the birth day of ancient magician and entertainer, Jesus. All available evidence points to the fact that he was actually born in the Spring time. Look it up.

You might also want to look up how christians created "Christmas" by stealing the already existing late December holiday of the Winter Solstice, including all of the symbols, such as the tree, yule log, candles, feasts, gift giving, etc.

Christians have a long history of stealing and fraud. Check out ffrf.org and free yourself from the tyranny of religion.

I would rather free myself from Hell, that lasts forever. If you are wrong you will spend eternity wishing that you had listened, if I were to be wrong I would never know.

It is not the day it is the celebration of the Birth of Christ. Pick a day that might be better, pretty neat that it comes so close to New Year

uh, maybe i shoulda been more clear for those of you who've had your head in the sand for the past few years...i DID NOT say ANYTHING about my living room or a tree in your house.

and what i meant, and was NOT clear on, was the use of the term Christmas in referencing a tRee or the holiday IN A RETAIL BUSINESS, GOVERNEMENT buildiong or office, or other business type of environment, INCLUDING THE WORKPLACE.

what i SHOULD HAVE SAID is that there are groups who DO NOT WANT the Christmas Holiday to be called Chrsitmas, that DO NOT want a Christmas Tree to be called a Christmas tree, and that DO NOT want you to say Merry Christmas in the workplace.

whew.

now that i've exlained that, get out of my living room (and your own), and revelea what you thoughts are about groups or people who want to 'restrict' free speech and the use of the above terms during the CHRISTAMS season!

The real issue is we need to use manufactured trees instead of cutting down live ones!! That's the problem! We will cut down a nice tree
And use it for a few weeks and then throw it away!! HOW WASTEFUL !!!!
i said nothing about my personal tree or my living room...i'm talking about the use of the terms Merry Christmas and Christmas tree in the workplace, business and retail environment, and schools and government buildings.

now repsond.

...the ISSUE is WHAT PEOPLE CALL the tree, or the holiday......and as for the tree, whether it's 'manufactured' or 'live'.

trees are a 'renewable' resource.

It's still wasteful, and that land could be used for food production. It can be a Christmas tree, a Kwanzaa tree, a Hannukah tree, a Holiday tree, a Saturnalia tree, whatever you want it to be -- it's your tree, in your living room.
Why is this an issue?
becuase you didn;t read the original post...just the one before yours.....i never said anything about what to call the tree or the holiday within your own home.

as to the land being used for food production....we feed over half-the-world now and STILL do not use all our land for food production.

disagree with you 100%, b-man2, but at least you got the gist of my original post........so your repsonse is 'on-topic'....thanks!

the very 1st reponse was about a tree in my living room, and it quickly devolved into 'farming'?!?!?!?!

must be a lot of folks that didn't take their ritalin or adderall today! LOL, LOL, LOL.

I personally think it's a non-issue what you call the tree, whether it's a personal tree or a public tree. To me it'll always be a Christmas tree.

Even though I'm an atheist.

Of course I know the origin of most of the Christmas traditions, which is not in Christianity...

But I certainly think there are other things that are more worthy of getting your panties in a twist over than what you call a tree or choose to say for a couple of weeks out of the year.

no one seems to be getting my point, and i guess i'm not prefacing it correctly.........let's start over...

DO YOU WANT ANYONE TELLING YOU WHAT TO CALL, OR NOT CALL, the tree that has been traditionally known as a Christams tree, or restricting you from greeting a co-worker with 'Merry Christmas'?

Do you agree with those who think you should boycott stores for their using the term Merry Christmas in the stores?

Wow - this thread got annoying quick by people really evading what you asked. I'm a Christian and I know full well how some of the traditions evolved from non-Christian traditions. But there's history there and why it happened and it does not change the fact that Jesus died on the cross for me along with everyone else, including atheists.

So let's get back to the original point. I'm being forced to call it a holiday party because I might offend someone. And I'm made to feel uncomfortable if I say Merry Christmas if someone said Happy Holiday. And although it's been called a Christmas tree all this time I have to call it a holiday tree.

The point is that Christians are made to feel politically incorrect by voicing their religion, and it's sad. I don't see Muslims being forced to reword their traditions and beliefs - the world would be in an uproar if anyone even suggested it, but more and more Christians are forced to concede their beliefs.

And I realize that Hanukkah and Kwanza are celebrated during the same month so the original Happy Holiday was made to include those faiths and I never had a problem with that. It's the fact that we are supposed to replace any religious term with holiday. I think that salespeople should be allowed to say either Merry Christmas, Happy Hanakkuh, Happy Kwanza, or Happy Holidays based on their religious beliefs, and with a smile be greeted by a customer with their personal belief statement. I would no way be offended by a greeting of another faith. In fact, I respect it because you are willing to be a witness for your faith (or lack thereof). The point is that no one is being allowed to share that faith unless it's a lack of faith with the generic happy holiday.

God doesn't care what you call the symbolic tree nor the holiday, just whats in your heart and your actions towards others, and i for one only care what he thinks. freedom of speech and religion are protected, just watch any news/media or sunday morning preaching on television..so to answer,it is a christmas tree and my family celebrates christmas. and all the politically correct masses can't make me stop...l8tr
