How is your hygiene. Did you wash your hands, and how are those gloves working in your kitchens at home. Give these food service workers a break if you are afraid of the food do not eat there. More people get food posioning at home than at a resturant.

Thanks, my hygiene is great, my kitchen is clean, and no one has ever gotten sick off the food I make. I used to be a microbiologist, and I'm super paranoid about conditions in my kitchen.

Do you wash your poultry before you cook it? I do. I cook hamburger until it's done all the way through, and registers 165 on my cooking thermometer. I have "done" temperatures posted on my refrigerator.

Don't know about your food handling practices, but mine are fueled by knowing exactly what bacteria are liable to be found in what foods, and what they can do to you.

Ever heard of Bacillus cereus? No? Causes a nasty food intoxication from cooked cereals, like rice. Never eat the rice on a buffet unless it's hot.

I'm thinking we picked up some Staph aureus intoxication... I'd be willing to bet someone at the WH is an SA carrier.

Ever notice the towel they clean the table with? the same one they cleaned all the others with, maybe rinsed off in the sink with hot water but bugs need heat to breed, a warm moist environment, bet wobbie will verify that, at least they do place silverware on a napkin, just make sure you dont place it on the table, went on a cruise a few yr's ago and our steward told me that a couple cruises before a stomach virus broke out, pretty bad with 3000 sick pukeing guest 4 days out at sea, one sick person getting into the hot tubs, handling all the rails can spread misery real fast in a confined area.

Yep, those towels are beyond nasty. You wouldn't believe what you can culture off one of those towels.

Yes, those towels are full of bacteria. Same at home if you use a sponge or dish cloth and rinse it out after each use.

Paper towels. Spray your surfaces, scrub with a plastic scrubbie you can disinfect, then wipe clean with paper towels. Spray again to disinfect and let it dry without wiping.

I used to test the efficacy of disinfectants. Did you know that those "kills 99% of bacteria" claims those various disinfectants make in the commercials is based on a 10 minute exposure time?

How many people wet down their surfaces and leave the disinfectant there for 10 minutes? How many people even *know* about that 10 minute exposure time?

Ever worked around a bunch of Mexicans, they will all wash their hands in the water barrel the mason uses then eat lunch, after lunch they will get a drink of water out of the same barrel they washed their hands in, give them a shot of penicillin and it would probably kill them.

No, I don't live in a bubble. But no one has ever gotten sick on food I've prepared in my kitchen.

As for the current germophobia, I think it's silly. You develop an immune system by being exposed to bacteria. Making everything sterile just means you don't have an optimal immune system, and you'll get sick more often.

And that about Mexicans is just plain racist. But I wouldn't expect anything different from you, old man.

So glad you noticed, I also offer no apologies for the slaves my G grandfather owned or the yankees he killed.

"I also offer no apologies for the slaves my G grandfather owned or the yankees he killed."

Don't know what one has to do with the other, but neither do I. That was in the past. We, however, live in the present and as such *should* be more educated than to judge a whole group based on the actions of just one sample.

Just like I don't think all people who live in Bremen are as backwards and mean-spirited as the ones who use Topix.

But you judge all Christians by the actions of a few even those that lived in the past, of course I would expect such from a bigot as you.

He never said all Mexicans he recalled an observation that he had, can you not be tolerant of others. Are you so narrow minded that the right way is your way and there is no other?

I judge Christians based on 50+ years of living around them. I've seen very very few who actually walked the walk. Like Gandhi said, "I like your Christ, I do not like your Christians. Your Christians are so unlike your Christ."

As for old man's comment, he never qualified it with "there was a group of Mexicans I worked with". He said "Ever worked around a bunch of Mexicans" -- the inference is that "all Mexicans are this way".

Racist.

Racist.

What? Because I called you out on your blatant racism (which has nothing to do with the issue at hand) I've "lost" some argument that exists only in your head?

BTW, "playing the race card" generally means the person who did so claims *they're* being racially persecuted. I'm not, so I didn't. Learn to use your sound bites correctly.

Sorry, but I will take my chances cause it is med rare for my burger. I simply would not eat hamburgers if I had to cook them well done. I know it is a risk, but whats not?

If you knew what was crawling around inside that medium rare burger, you'd cook it well done too. I've tested too many samples of raw ground beef and seen what's in there to ever eat a burger with ANY pink inside it!

Gives me the shivers just thinking of it.

I am sure! But think about it, humans have gotten themselves to the point where they cannot stomach many things. Not so many years ago folks ate meat that had been out for days without getting sick(why do you think sage was added to sausage? To cover up the rotting smell)but over time, we have gotten rid of the good bacteria in our gut that protected us from those bugs.
