9% isn't enough ! I'm thinking about 25% to 30% cut in all elected and hourly employees. Now with that being said just think how much money that would generate. If the Servants don't like it move to where there is ample money ! Quit being a PARASITE. And like it or not that's what you are and other Goverment Employees. Living off others in the Grand Ponzi Scheme of Goverment !

Looks like they bowed to the Lancaster police chief and childrens services to remove the forum under the firebombing article after too much negativity toward their depts.

I dont know what happened to you Timmy but cutting emergency services is not a rational answer to the budget situation in Ohio. Let buildings burn, acts of violence go unchecked, then you would be happy right?

Lancaster City Police Chief does NOT report to the Fairfield County Commissioners. That falls under the jurisdiction of Lancaster City. He would report to the Mayor and/or the City Administrator. Nonetheless, Sheriff Phalen needs to tighten his belt, just like everyone else. He's been immune thus far, to the budget crisis but now, like all of us, it's time to pay the piper!

Let take the county down the way Obama is taking the county. INTO BANKRUPTCY. We cut the budget and hire someone. Does anyone think this sales tax increase will go away in four years? It is just like everything else the state and county does. I am surprized we don't start taxing. NEWBORNS. \

Find other places to cut corners, oh mighty Commissioners. You don't cut public safety unless you know crime is going to go down. And with the economy the way it is, crime will only go UP! Morons......

I believe safety is VERY important. Sheriff Phalen is right! The commissioners have to know county residents need law enforcement.

Based on my single experience with the Columbus Police...they are all worthless. I feel my chances are better defending myself against a "true criminal", armed or not, than against a cop with a club, tazor, and a 44......with co-workers that back his sorry crooked a$$. Screw-em!!

If there is no money why are they hiring an economic development director. Sounds as if the good old boys needed to create a job for their buddy. Vote them all out of office in the next election. It is time they all take pay cuts like the rest of the population. Learn to live within your budget.

Phalen was a big promoter of that tax-waster The DARE Program. All the money wasted on that could have been used for other important things. Just a year ago there were Fairfield County people clamoring for money to be spent on bike trails, libraries, Rock Mill rehab and the like. The county is out of money like every other government entity but groups of people still want their pet projects to be paid for by others. Wake up, people. The party's over.

Here's a guy that needs some support, folks. Sheriff Phalen has always done the best he could with what was distributed. I thought some of the sales tax money was going to be directed at his department. The patrol staff is spread too thin now, and he still has to run the jail. Please help him.

Where are they going to go to seek work other than Fairfield County ? Must be a money tree there. As far as your statement buildings burning, acts of violence go unchecked. Move to my County you'll get use to it. And they will get use to less money from the Goverment Ponzie. The crystal ball is broken and there lies don't work anymore.Thank God !

Who are they serving in the suburbs ? Themselves !
