As of now I am an Active Duty Special Forces Operator. I plan on opening a gym in Carrizo (my hometown) soon. Just to get a general feel for my audience I would like to submit what I can offer as a Personal Trainer/Gym Owner. Any comments, suggestions or "you're ideas are retarded" would be greatly appreciated.

The fitness programs I will offer will not be the run of the mill crap you seen in magazines and corporate gyms. Think of it this way. If their programs worked and their supplements worked then you would reach your goals and not have to buy their products anymore. Not good for profits. My misison is simple. To provide instruction, location and an atmosphere that caters to my athletes meeting their specific goals, whatever they may be. Bodybuilder, Powerlifter, Strongman, Elite Athlete, or just the average American who simply wants to lose some weight, I can help. Specifically those who wish to excel in football or MMA. As I have experience with both.

It is functional, high intensity with an emphasis on strength for men AND WOMEN.(A common myth is that women who lift will become "muscle bound" the reality is, women do not have enough testosterone to achieve a physique as such without anabolic steroids).

The methods used have worked for me in combat extremely well, and will work for you. Whether you are a 75 year old woman or a young 19 year old man the methods I apply to each specific individual will work.

Money back guarantee... no really... I will give all of your money back if you do not feel that I am getting you to where you want to be.

Along with the instruction/place to work out I will provide a dietary nutrtion plan for each individual athlete that trains at my gym. It will be modeled after the "Paleo Diet." If your curious..

I say athlete because I do not like the word "client" as it diminshes what my program is focused on. And it makes me sound like one the personal trainers from a corporate gym. "All you need is a $150.00 for inital sign-up fee, and $30.00 per month for the first 6 months, then 60 from then on out..." Rubbish...

And last but not least, I will be giving ALOT of classes, specifically on nutrition, proper form and technique, wieght loss, injury prevention/healing, combat/warrior mindset, discipline. No extra charge.

Anyways thats just a rough draft of what I'm envisioning again any input would be greatly appreciated. I do not know what fees will be but you can bet itll be cheaper than my competitors, as I do not feel fitness should be used as a way to generate enormous profits by filling magazines and movies with people who take steroids and then tell young men and women that is how they are supposed to look. Below I will give examples of what I mean.

Here is a picture of a woman bodybuilder.

Does that look like fitness to you?

Here is a picture of a woman who does Crossfit.(The main system my principles come from)

Who do you think is really more fit?

Honestly in my opinion I believe you would be better off doing a bootcamp. U can use the park or a parking lot. You have no overhead so u can make money and not spend alot. All you need is your knowledge to get people into shape. Just my opinion. Good luck.

Thank you for the input guys. For "local" I do not intend to "put down" Jim's Gym. It's great for bodybuilding. And that's about it. Lot's of machines, no squat racks or lifting platforms, tires, sledge hammers, olympic weights(rubber) etc.

What Is Fitness and Who Is Fit?

Outside Magazine crowned triathlete Mark Allen “the fittest man on earth”( http://web.outsidemag.com/magazine/0297/ 9702fefit.html).

Let’s just assume for a moment that this famous six-time winner of the IronMan Triathlon is the fittest of the fit, then what title do we bestow on the decathlete Simon Poelman ( http://www.decathlon2000.ee/english/legends/p... ) who also possesses incredible endurance and stamina, yet crushes Mr. Allen in any comparison that includes strength, power, speed, and coordination?

Perhaps the definition of fitness doesn’t include strength, speed, power, and coordination though that seems rather odd. Merriam Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary defines “fitness” and being “fit” as the ability to transmit genes and being healthy. No help there.

Worse yet, the NSCA, the most respected publisher in exercise physiology, in their highly authoritative Essentials of Strength Training and Conditioning doesn’t even attempt a definition.

The definition I'll be following, and hopefully spread to others:

Eat meat and vegetables, nuts and seeds, some fruit, little starch and no sugar. Keep intake to levels that will support exercise but not body fat.

Practice and train major lifts: Deadlift, clean, squat, presses, C&J, and snatch. Similarly, master the basics of gymnastics: pull-ups, dips, rope climb, push-ups, sit-ups, presses to handstand, pirouettes, flips, splits, and holds. Bike, run, swim, row, etc, hard and fast.

Five or six days per week mix these ele- ments in as many combinations and patterns as creativity will allow. Routine is the enemy. Keep workouts short and intense.

Regularly learn and play new sports

Furthermore your dead wrong about Carrizo not being big enough. To ensure that I can get athletes who want to train I will be offering a free month. No obligation, no gimmicks or charges. 1 month of free nutrition and exercise. If you think I'm blowing smoke up your ass then you simply leave. I think that's fair. Also, when I was home last week I noticed that the oil field has nearly doubled the local population of Carrizo Springs.

Also tanning beds aren't good for you. Look it up. Get natural sunlight, it's actually healthy for you. I find it funny that a gym would offer it to people, people who are trying to get healthy and find instruction from those that "know".

"The suspicions of tanning beds were confirmed in July 2009 when a study by international cancer experts labeled tanning beds as dangerous as arsenic and mustard gas -- in the top category of cancer-causing risks [source: MSNBC]. The study -- which was a conglomerate analysis of 20 previous studies -- discovered that people who used tanning beds before their 30th birthday had a 75 percent higher risk of developing skin cancer. In addition, they discovered that all types of UV radiation - not only UVA rays - cause cell mutations and cancer."

Which then again, is why I'm trying my own way. The goal is to get people healthy. Their body composition will follow. Whereas it would seem that "normal gyms" do it backwards. Make their "clients" feel/look they are being healthy but in reality they are just another number with money.

As for pricing: It will be cheaper than whoever else is competing against me. While 50.00 honestly isn't alot of money to charge for services it really depends on what your getting. Here in Cali a Crossfit gym membership runs around 120.00 a month. L.a. fitness and the like about 60.00.

Im looking into charging 30.00 for month. For basic classes/instruction. 1-on-1 coaching for specific sports will run higher.

I will have child care provided. Thats a given.

Thanks again guys I appreciate it.

Oh and for "Hey": I plan on opening the gym within 5-6 months. Possibly sooner depending on how much money I can get from my Va business loan.

If anyone is interested in the type of workouts/body type you will have. Please google image crossfit men or women. Or youtube the workouts. Though they will seem intense I assure you that ANYONE can do them with enough proper instruction and hard work.

Notice that they're abdominals aren't cute like a 16 year Abercrombie model who only does crunches. Notice that they are lean and strong but not ridiculously huge and bulky. Lean, Fit, Strong. How men and women were created to be by the Lord. Before msgs, hormone pumped animals, GMO foods, massive alochol consumption, McDonalds, etc.

Free tanning, showers and a sauna.

Results guaranteed.

I hope people can see my point, notice how the selling points are those things.

Not hey 50.00 a month to learn how to be the most fit you can be and feel the best you can possibly feel. Both physically and mentally. Be the best human being that you can physically be. Thats worth 50.00.

Sorry for picking on ya man. But hell I've always called a cow a cow and its kept my ass alive over there. Figure honesty is always a good bet. But your logic is so twisted anyone can see that your just trying to make money.

I wanna make people healthy. If I dont make jackshit then oh well. I suck at running a business but at least I will have changed a few people's lives.
