Knott county was going to get a water park like the one in somerset and corbin. It was going to be built out from the money pit AKA sportsplex. Did someone take the money and run??
Oh, really? wow! I didn't even hear about that. I wonder what's going on with that and the transportation hub. Does anyone on here know if we are we still getting either of those?

Ugh! Typos... I meant to type "Does anyone on here know if we *are still getting either of those?" ... I think that the transportation hub would be greatly needed by many people around here. Many people are too old and sick to drive, and a lot of people can't afford the outrageously high car insurance these days.

All these broken promises to us makes me sick. If we're not going to get a transportation hub, then someone should at least tell us where the money grant for it went. #Mad

Why ??? Do you know how corrupt that the people running things over there 'allegedly' are? That's one big reason why I don't want to live there anymore. And I think that Knott County needs it more anyway.

By "Knott County needs it more", I meant the transportation hub, of course.

In last August, I read on a well-known, local news website that Governor Steve Beshear had announced the awarding of a $5 million federal grant for creation of a transit hub in downtown Hindman. It was supposed to increase access to public transportation in 4 eastern Kentucky counties: Knott, Letcher, Perry and Leslie. The project was supposed to involve renovation of property in downtown Hindman to create a transit hub and parking structure. Come on, people. This was announced back in August, 5 MONTHS AGO. 5 MILLION DOLLARS in grant money. The website reported in great detail what the wonderful transit was going to be like. The facility was supposed to include transit offices, bus parking, rider parking and a waiting room for riders. The parking facility was even supposed to have had an outdoor, perimeter walkway that could double as a walking track. That could serve the dual purpose of connecting to the transit facility and city sidewalks and encouraging exercise. Oh, my goodness. Big dreams. Big wad of money. Where did it all go? We deserve answers!
YES! YOU'RE 100% CORRECT! That was big news back in August and September. Now what? I don't hear about it anymore. It's as if the news was a hallucination that no one wants to speak about. Well, I'd like for Governor Beshear to speak about it, since he seemed so excited about it 5 months ago. I wonder how he feels about it now! I'd like to ask him a few questions. Where is the transportation hub? Where is all that grant money? I'd also like to ask the residents of Knott County some questions. Do you think that we deserve a better community for our children and grandchildren to grow up in, where there is better things to do other than take drugs and stare at the hills? Aren't you all tired of being lied to and let down? I know that I AM. This should be national news.

I might write Governor Beshear and WYMT's reporters, and ask them about the transportation hub, the grant money and the water park. I'm so curious about what happened to all the good things that we supposed to have got but didn't get. I want answers.

Maybe if someone emailed Anderson Cooper, he would do a report about it. It seems like he likes to report about small town troubles. CNN would probably eat this story up. That would be good in my opinion. People around here might get some answers to their questions then. Maybe we could find out what happened to all that grant money.

Is it possible that Randy Thompson could have froze the money legally before he went away ??? I'm not accusing him of it. I'm just wondering if it were possible. If so, could anything be done legally to unfreeze the money and let his replacement use it as it should be used ???*Early Morning Thoughts*

Whatever happened to the Huge Power Plant that was supposed to go in here that was to save us all money on our utility bills? Remember Mitch McConnell helicoptered in for the ground breaking ceremonies. Never came into existence. No news coverage thereafter about its demise.

and we will continue to have nothing because of the remarks on here, we all have relatives, we all have a political party, what we don't have is a common interest in getting knott county out of the 60's and into 2013,, our county judges have bought votes since before i was old enough to vote,,, people kept there mouth shut and went on their merry way,,, nuson got clipped and randy got clipped,,,,,BUT they did nothing that our president didn't do,,, so as far as i am concerned no harm no fowl..we had the opportunity to add a 1% tax, some people thought the world had ended, we had an opportunity to sell alcohol that was blown outta the water,, with mr o's hand up the EPA'S ass we will have no more coal jobs,,, so what is a poor county to do? no name calling just, suggestions,,,,

I remember that because a news site in West Virginia did a report about it. I briefly lived in Knott County, Kentucky back in 2002. It does need better transportation, among other things. There are old, sick and disabled people who need a way to get to their doctor's office, a pharmacy and a grocery store. Heck, there are young, healthy, working people who need transportation because they can't afford car insurance. The car insurance was very expensive when I lived in Kentucky. I hope that somehow y'all get that transportation hub and all the other good things that were promised to the residents of Knott County. Knott County is a beautiful place with great potential. Most of the people I know there are nice, caring people. They deserve better than being lied to and given empty promises and false hope.
